Hotel Grünberger superior

Breakfast was really good. There was a nice selection of cheeses, meats, breads etc. The coffee machine was great. Everyone in our family found something they liked to eat to start the day. The dining room has an outdoor area too, overlooking the water. Our room was spacious and clean. Our balcony overlooked the river (and road). The bathroom was small, but functional and very clean. We also ate dinner at the restaurant - it was convenient and the selection was good. Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. There was an elevator to help with luggage- very convenient. Location is great for all the activities in the area. Parking was very easy. The shower in our room was small - just be aware if you are very tall or larger, this may be a bit tight. The ceiling in our room was slanted, so one person had to crawl out of the bed at the foot of the bed, because of how the bed was situated (this is a note for people who may have mobility issues that would make it hard to scoot down to the end of the bed). There are lounge chairs by the water, a perfect place to relax at end of day. We would stay here again and would recommend it to others!

It's not the hotel's fault, but it was really hot while we were there. No a/c and no fans, which is typical for Germany, but for some visitors it might be difficult to sleep and get comfortable. Other than that, we really loved this hotel.

Location very convenient just a couple of minutes from the train/bus station, fully equipped kitchenette, bathrobes, full balcony, huge lounge in the luxury apartment, free fruit n tea/coffee in the lobby downstairs, breakfast in the riverbank cafe of the hotel, swings n slides outside, helpful staff, swimming pool and healthy activities. Nothing major just a few small details: Sliding doors for the main bedroom lacked privacy, The a/c was only for the lounge not in bedrooms, we missed croissants at breakfast, food was not refilled much even at 9am. Twin beds were stuck together, not separate.

location is perfect. love the play/recreation area down by the water. breakfast was plentiful. facility was clean and welcoming. office staff were very pleasant and helpful. room was well furnished and robes were an unexpected delight.

breakfast was confusing in that, staff didn't greet us and we weren't sure where to sit or how the process worked. breakfast staff never talked to us our first day, but were joyful with other guests. the bed pillows are awful; too thin, basically non-existent. would've been nice to have a fridge in room. need washcloths in bathroom. bedroom was very small, no room for luggage.

The breakfast spread was outstanding--the best we had on our trip throughout Bavaria, while staying at places in a similar category as the Hotel Grunberger! The location was also superb--very easy to find. The staff were able to check our family of 5 into two adjacent rooms. My family did go down to the pool/spa area. The pool was semi-heated (good temperature for the kids, not so much for this adult). The sauna was also in working order--very warm (about 50 degrees C/140 degrees F), not hot. Everything throughout was clean and well-maintained. There was also free bottled water in each room. Bathrobes and pool towels of the highest quality in each room. Towel warmer in the bathroom. Balcony in each room. And Martina, at the check-in/out desk, was so helpful and kind. She made us feel very welcome!

While it is true that the Hotel Grunberger is on a river, that river runs next to a busy road that leads into the Berchtesgaden roundabout near the bus station. The view from rooms may either be the cranes across that road with river below, or a mountainside with parking lot below (which is what we had). Overall, this wasn't a disappointment at all, just don't expect the hotel to be set in a countryside away from the city. It's very centrally located to town.

The location is perfect - easy to find, opposite the station and central bus terminal, and right by the river with glorious mountain views. The breakfast buffet was very good and varied, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They even found us some fans for the rooms as it was hot. The Grillabend on our arrival evening was an unexpected bonus. Beds were comfortable, everything was clean, indoor pool, lovely sun loungers by the river - no complaints!

Nothing. It was the ideal spot to break our journey for two nights.

Great hotel. Staff were very helpful. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. We had booked a quadruple room, which was two rooms, with 2 doubles in the second. Made it great for us with 2 teenagers. It's a good location along the river and lovely views from the room - Makes a great based to explore the area, but it is a uphill 15 minute walk into town. Breakfast was great with everything you could need. Also lovely to be able to have it on the terrace along the river.

Unfortunately, due to staff shortages the restaurant was closed in the evenings - not a problem for us however. There was free tea and coffee available downstairs, which was welcome.

Very misleading photos on Booking.com where I was given a choice of room including an upgraded superior room with a queen-size and a twin bed (photos depicting this) at a higher price per night. Upon arrival, we were given a room with twin beds and was told all of their rooms are the same: double/queen or twin. They have no Superior rooms and this has to be explained to customers many times per day. While the hotel was very nice, I will never again book through or trust Booking.com website descriptions.

The staff were very friendly, breakfast was good, the room was nice and had a balcony, and the location was perfect to catch buses to the Eagle's Nest (unfortunately shut, but not the hotel's fault) and Konigsee lake. It was on the other side of the river from the town centre, but we had chosen the location specifically to be close to the station. Do be aware, though, that if you do want to go into town from there, it is all uphill!

I hadn't expected the main road to be quite so busy during the day, but again, we chose to be close to the station so it was a decent tradeoff, and the hotel managed to keep the rooms quiet.

Everything was good, but the service and conduct of the staff was absolutely great, and that makes a huge difference in experience. I went with my parents and kids. Everyone greeted us with a smile always. They were able to speak in English. They even cleaned milk bottles and provided fresh warm milk for our kids whenever we needed. I was surprised that free parking was available that too in such a prime location. Location is just perfect, doesn't get any better than this. Rooms were a bit small which could be a problem with kids, but we were quite comfortable. The swimming poll is well maintained and they also have a pretty nice sauna. We were given bathing robes, and plenty of towels. Breakfast was fabulous indeed, plenty of options from fruits, breads, cheese, eggs, cereals, joghurts, juices and everything of great quality.

Immaculately clean! Location was ideal for us, since it is directly across the street from the train station; when we arrived on the train, it was just a two minute walk to our hotel! Breakfast was superb, indoor pool was wonderful.

No Air conditioning. We were there in June when temps hit 90’s, and our third-floor room was sweltering. Our room was in the apartment building, and while it was very neat and clean, the sloped ceiling meant that half of the kitchen and bedroom were unusable to anyone over five feet tall.
