Mercure Grand Hôtel Metz Centre Cathédrale

We loved absolutely everything! We came to Metz having had an uncomfortable previous night elsewhere. The staff at the Mercure saw our exhaustion and offered us drinks, giving us care and attention. They could not have been more helpful. Through the genius rewards we had a room upgrade and our room was fantastic. Large, cool and well equipped. Metz is a fantastic place to visit, so much to see and do, we wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is right in the city centre. Parking was in the republique car park and was close by. 9 Euro for 24 hours was a good price. The hotel communicated directions to this and it was easy to find. Breakfast was outstanding. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Metz, Metz, beautiful Metz. This is a lovely old hotel slap bang in the middle of the city. There is an underground car park very close by and the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This especially applies to the young lady who checked us in and gave us all sorts of advice on where to go and what to do. Also, Thibaud, who we chatted with when we checked out was great fun and very friendly.

The only thing to include here was the size of our room. It was small. But there is little that the hotel can do about this as it is a charming old building and the rooms just happen to be quite small. It was perfectly comfortable for our two night stay.

We travel with family and friends. The place is very cenrtal, step out and you are on one of the main shopping streets. All sightseeings, bars, cafes, restaurants, shops - everything is wakling distance. There are pretty cheap parking options a few meters away (Cathedral parking is 8.60euro per day). Great location to explore the city. In addition the room was very spacious, and clean. The people are also sooo friendly. You can have breakfast or just sit in the lobby and have a drink. We had great time and plan to come again. Can only reccomment it. Excellent place

Christmas time.... so I did not have breakfast as I wanted to eat outside. Got room 102 - a very big room according to French hotels style that are usually small. The hotel was REALLY recent renovated - looks and is new. Also new style mini fridge. VERY big shower - approx.. 1X1 M shower - so anyone can fit in... Liked the shampoo smell... location 11/10 (no mistake...) - if you come by train take mini bus N83 (free!) that stopes 50 meters from the hotel on the other street (Serpenoise). The bus back to the station and the new muse shopping mall is 20 meter to your right. Carrefour 60 meters away was great also. >> Here is a trick: if you don't need a table or a chair, than room 312 will be a better choice. It is a small room (but with same amenities and is very quiet). see negative bellow. SUM : if you don't need a chair - I would give 9 score to room 312 - and it also has a view !! (see pics) Room 102 will score 7.5 only because of the noise.

Since it is and old building, it means no change can be made to exteriors... So the windows do have double glassing, but NOT soundproof.... The room faces in front of a main street, so you can always hear people walking and shouting... Not only that, but cleaner cars come at 06:00 and make a lot of noise that wakes you up (if you are sensitive to that kind of noise) - see the picture.

Perfect location, everything within walking distance. Hotel situated in a historic building. Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the inner courtyard, nicely decorated, functional and quiet. A very warm welcome at the reception. Hotel informed us in advance about parking which is 3-4 min walk away from the hotel and parking was at discounted rate. Lots of cafés and restaurants in the neighbourhood. We can recommend La Taverne and Creperie Le Saint Malo. Metz is definitely worth a visit!

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Although we were right in the centre of the town it was very quiet as most rooms faced into a courtyard.

The hotel has a wonderful position in the centre of a pedestrianised area. You can drive to the front door to drop off luggage and parking is close by. However, it is worth calling the hotel for directions and a code that you can use to get through the bollards that block off the streets around the hotel. Also note that the SatNav gets very confused trying to get the car into a pedestrianised zone!

Perfect location for seeing the historic center of Metz. Friendly staff. They have a good parking deal with Indigo République and that works really well. €9 for 24 hours. The parking is easy to get to from the freeway, then it’s a short, straight walk to the hotel, and at the hotel they give you a voucher you can exchange at the reception of the parking garage before you drive out. We stayed with 3 people in a family room and the sleeping couch had already been made into a bed and there were towels for three people. The bathroom is top notch with an amazing shower. Not giving 10 because I would have loved a bath after a long day of driving but that’s it.

Terrific location in the centre of Metz and just a very short walk from the car park. The parking was generously discounted by the hotel and even the parking attendants were very helpful. The staff were super: the welcome was warm and generous, they were very efficient, very helpful and gave us plenty of time to explain all the amenities.

Mercure hotels are a great mix of trendy and traditional rooms. Our room was more contemporary than most. The ensuite had no heating in the newly decorated shower room and the hand basin was in the bedroom even though there was ample space to incorporate it!

We stayed here for a one night stopover on a long journey. The hotel has a bright modern interior and is very peaceful and comfortable. Both staff members we met were friendly and helpful. The hotel is located right in the centre of Metz but on a quiet street with an excellent large secure underground public car park nearby. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely use the hotel again if travelling this way. Highly recommended.

Mostly, I appreciated the staff at reception and that there was no sound coming from the ventilation. The bed was very comfy, the towels were big and soft. The room is very comfortable and we loved the subdued decoration. The shower was big and very good. The minibar didn't make any noise and included a courtesy bottle of water. Although the hotel was full, silence reigned. We did not try breakfast but judging by quality of the coffee and cappuccino we were kindly offered it must be good. We will certainly stay here next time we visit Metz.

Not being able to use the toilets nearest to the breakfast room. Quite unexpected and unacceptable, even if it was under repair two days in a row. The entrance is a bit of a put off and we passed by it without noticing. Works still going on?
