Hôtel Escurial - Centre Gare

I liked the location. Close to train station. The hotel is old but very clean. Cleaning is done each morning. The staff are nice, they try to help whenever they can. The breakfast is good value. Only issue was the problems with the wifi for a couple of days... Choose the street side room in the hot weather. The inner rooms, overlooking a courtyard and the back of other buildings gets the early sun and is hot and there are no fans or aircon. I asked to change my room to the street side, but they couldn't accommodate me. They told me I wanted a quiet room. The traffic is not so bad on the road and the inner room had noise from other buildings.

Very clean rooms, nice and warm, friendly staff, good location in the proximity of the railway station and with the old town about 2 km away. We could walk to the main attractions. Furniture is a little dated and some things need to be repaired or replaced and rooms are small but these things did not bother us. Breakfast costs 9,50 EUR/person, the bufet is very small but you can find a little bit of everything and all in all it was good.

The toilet in our bathroom was shaky, it needs fixing. Wifi did not work in our room, only in the other room of our apartment.

The Escurial is close to the station and while it doesn't have its own parking facilities you get a preferential rate at the underground car parking nearby (just 4 mins walk from the hotel). It's an old building from the 1930s and slightly dilapidated but perfectly adequate for an overnight stopover. We literally just needed a bed for the night. Booked a family room for two teens (16 and 18) and ourselves (mum and dad) and ended up with two adjacent double rooms and two bathrooms behind a 'main' door, so to speak, so it was like a mini-apartment. It was perfect! Bathrooms very tiny indeed but good showers and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was very nice. Best of all: the staff!!! Charming young man on reception who couldn't have been kinder. Met the owner in the morning who was also very nice. The ladies doing breakfast were lovely. All the staff were happy and smiling. Had our evening meal at the ABC brasserie opposite the station, which was a great find.

We were on the fourth floor and the WiFi was poor to non-existent. As we live Europe, we have good flat-rate roaming tariffs so it wasn't a big deal. Much better reception in the dining room!

Nice location near the train station. Overall, clean and fairly well maintained. Nice staff. The room was small, but had a little balcony.

The toilet tank was a bit dysfunctional. Had to lift the lid to get the water going. Also, you have to ring the bell at the front door even during the day. Sometimes it takes the staff a couple of minutes to buzz you in.

Beds were excellent . Extra blanket asked for was no problem, good location to see Metz . Parking Charles de Gaulle with good reduction provided by the hotel is close by but you have to ask the reception how to drive exactly. The reception give you a ticket for the reduction of the price which quite considerable. The should however put a small situation sketch form the hotel to the parking (then people do not get lost) . Breakfast was quite complete and good value for money .

As said parking was hard to find there are a view parking close to the train station and there is a lot of one way roads around the hotel. So if you drive wrongly it is difficult to turn. The view to the city from the hotel is rather limited but that is compensated by the location towards the places of interest

The room, while really small, with a twin bed, was very nice and having a balcony was part of why I chose it over others. Being able to step out of the room was wonderful. The breakfast was worth every penny of the 9.5 Euros. The front desk staff was great.

I was okay with it but a large person would not have fit into the tiny shower stall.

Very comfortable room with a decent size. Distance from city centre was less than a 10 minute walk and it was even closer to the train station. staff were happy to help with anything. Wi-Fi was strong and they had a vending machine in case I needed a drink during the night.

Nothing it was a really good stay

Little bit dated furniture, but clean, in walking distance to main railway station as well as to the city centre. Breakfast - good choice of different types of food. Receptionist didn´t speak English but was able to use translator in the mobile phone so we have all needed information.

The staff were very friendly and patient with my terrible French. The hotel is located close to the train station and a short walk to the center of town. They held on to our bags before we checked-in and the breakfast was very good.

The room was a bit small and the shower needed more lighting.

Corner room with balcony was fantastic, great view of street life. Lift to upper levels and 24hr reception. Older style hotel always a bonus as rooms are generous size. Walking distance from train station and old town.

Free Wifi was intermittent with constant drop outs, quite annoying to constantly reconnect.
