We've stayed in Montreuil many times but never stayed here, normally we stay with our children but never really considered the chateau but as we were staying sans kids we thought we'd give the chateau a go. I have to say it's now my favourite hotel in Montreuil, we've now stayed in 7 places, excepting maison 76 and the goyser which is pretty new. We were lucky enough to be upgraded (without asking) and the room was an absolute cracker, the views were spectacular, the way it was furnished was really done with some charm and style. Young, friendly efficient staff all speaking good English, although patiently putting up with me practising my extremely poor French. All in all I really can't fault the hotel, we didn't eat in the evening but the breakfast was excellent, local cheeses, even offering a cooked brekkie which isn't always offered in hotels in France.

Nothing really.

We had not visited the Chateau de Montreuil since it changed ownership and left the Relais and Chateaux group, so were not entirely sure what to expect. The outside space looks as if serious attention has been paid to the gardens, full of relaxed people enjoying a drink in the benign sunshine. The pool is no more, the space occupied by an elegant events room (the chateau is making a serious push for the wedding market). Inside, all the flounces have gone, replaced by a serene, modern and comfortable aesthetic in the bedrooms; and a discreetly salacious theme in the dining rooms - look carefully at the photo mosaics on the walls. The kitchen knows what it’s doing and produces elegant, modern takes on classic ingredients: we ate two dinners and were well pleased with both. The wine list is extensive and the charming sommeliere may have further choices up her sleeve. Breakfast is a delicious spread of breads, pastries, yoghourts, fruits, cheeses etc, with eggs for those who have the appetite after the previous night’s dinner and excellent locally-made jams and fruit juice. None of this is cheap but it does represent fair value for money. Over the two nights we were there, guests were split evenly between French and English. The staff were high morale, good humoured and keen to please, with notably cheerful chambermaids.

Be careful what floor your room is on if you have difficulties with stairs - the website is very clear about this.

Beautiful chateau style with lovely gardens. Our bedroom overlooked the garden and was furnished with lovely traditional pieces, The bath/shower room was elegant and was truly outstanding. Breakfast was all you could hope for! We were offered secure parking which was welcome with a fully loaded car to protect.

Unfortunately dinner had to be taken in the town since the hotel was unable to provide. However, we had already been informed and a reservation had been made on our behalf. Pity,

Lovely room, all normal luxuries provided, friendly staff except as noted below, good location, nice grounds, good breakfast.

No on site car parking , but available off site at a cost. They could not provide a meal in the evening and had to book us into a local restaurant, which was good. We attempted to have a drink in the garden, were brought a menu but then just left so we went elsewhere. They appeared to be short staffed.

The location was very good, Within walking distance of restaurants and bars. The staff were great, The food was good quality. The hotel was beautifully decorated.

Our room did not have a shower, only a hand held over the bath. The shame of it is it would not take much to put in a shower screen and a shower. The food was excellent, but not much choice. The breakfast was very mediocre.

My husband and I spent two lovely days here. Couldn't fault it at all. The gardens are absolutely beautiful rooms beautifully clean . We dined in the restaurant on the Tuesday (shut the day we arrived). The meal was exquisite and excellent service. You can have drinks on the garden just lovely.

Nothing!

All the staff were very friendly and helpful and were wonderful ambassadors for this splendid hotel. Great style, comfort and very quiet with extensive gardens. The only sound was that of birdsong. Highly recommended.

Nothing! It’s a superb hotel with wonderful staff, who all spoke excellent English.

We stayed just one night but wish we had stayed longer, a lovely hotel, very nice stylish room and all of the staff were friendly and helpful.

There was nothing we didn't like, we did stay on a Sunday though which meant most places in the town was closed but this is no fault of the hotel.

The hotel was quiet, which is what we wanted. The staff were helpful and good.

No lift, and for an old persons-92 and 88-the stairs, although beautiful to look at were difficult for us.. Some of the furniture was badly marked-the table had a loose leg which needed some love. and other pieces were badly marked. Service was very slow for dinner-3 hours!!
