Best Western Plus Suites Downtown Calgary

We stayed the hotel for 4 days. The room is very spacious. Our family, two adults and two teenagers, could enjoy some personal space after long-day tours. The room also equips with kitchen, which provides simple amenities. We can do easy cooking or microwave foods we bought from the supermarket nearby. The breakfast is more like continental style, but we think it’s enough to start a day

The design of the room is slightly old-fashioned, but we feel okay given the discounted price, compared to the hotels at similar room size/facilities

Location is the best which really close to 17th Ave.(You can find several delicious foods there) Safety way, Best buy & Canadian tire are 2 mins far by walk. Staff are really friendly and work quite hard. (especially the girl who prepare for breakfast) Room space is also big enough for our family and clean. Free wifi also run smoothly.

The room card for elevator operation is not user friendly and the door closed quickly even we push the open button. We found several customers met same issue including ourselves. Suggest to change the room card design from insert to scan.

Room was spacious and had everything we needed - we had 2 Queen beds and they were really comfortable. Breakfast was brilliant! - Great selection of hot and cold food. Location was good - only about a 10-15 minute walk to the CTrain - and on a main bus route too, I think, although we didn't use them. Restaurants nearby (+ 17th Avenue) and coffee shop opposite. Large Safeway - and liquor store - just a few minutes walk. All staff really helpful and friendly.

The hotel was centrally located making easy to walk to the cultural 17th avenue or into downtown Calgary. The hotel has small cooking facilities in the room which was convient. The hotel offered a great breakfast with a mix of cold and hot foods, the eating space was large and had tvs with news reports on. The hotel rooms were dated but it looked as though updates were going through the hotel imminently.

Rooms were old fashioned and needed an update and good clean.

The water smells and tastes mouldy (though I believe this is a Calgary thing due to presence of Geosmin in the water). Breakfast was very busy, particularly waiting for the waffle machines. Perhaps more staff supervision or bookable slots would help to deal with this? Also the area around the property was a little scary at night time so would recommend a taxi if travelling in to the bars and restaurants. The AC was also very loud.

The staff was so friendly and obliging, the breakfast is above and beyond! We left an IPad behind and when we left a message about it , they called us back and put it aside for us. We felt well taken care of and will be back!

The bedspreads are so worn and the same is true of the carpeting. They have posted their new look for they are in the process of updating, it will be nice.

The room was very spacious and had everything I needed in it. A lovely bathroom, a kitchenette and a massive, comfy bed. The breakfast was good and varied with hot and cold options available. The hotel was very close to one of the main C-Train stations and you could walk to Safeway in about 5 minutes which was really handy for getting groceries. The reception staff were friendly and helpful which is always a bonus as well!

There weren't any negatives as such other than the breakfast room was quite small and so there were often queues at breakfast and because of this it felt quite crowded at times.

The room exceeded my expectations and breakfast made my stay very convenient. I was REALLY glad that they have a fitness room. Albeit very, very small, it helped me keep my workout during my stay in Calgary. The location couldn't be better (perhaps it could only be better if it were a bit closer to the bus stop that leads to the airport) - it's right next Safeway, train stations, restaurants, and so on.

I was really satisfied with breakfast, but they could improve it by having a few more healthy options. For instance, I felt that the scrambled eggs were not real eggs (some kind of powder mixture) and the sausages were pretty greasy (not to say they didn't taste good). They could also have better planned for the breakfast supply - towards the end of the weekend they had run out of yoghurt (to be fair, it was a long weekend, but even another more reason to have plenty of what is being offered). Having a few more weights in the fitness room and at least one more bench would be helpful - I was the only one using the room (at 5am), but if I were to share it with another person it would be quite impractical.

The breakfast was excellent. The beds were comfortable. Staff was polite and helpful. The location is central with easy access to bus and train. The view from our room is nice and open with big windows.

We like everything. The hotel itself is a little old but it looks like reno is underway.

Nothing fancy, but a very nice urban suite-style hotel. Bus service to downtown convention centre was pretty good - reliably a 15 minute ride. It's close to many cafes/restaurants/groceries on 17th Ave and 8th St. Wifi was reliable and a good speed. The continental breakfast is actually a very extensive buffet - waffles, eggs, hash browns, etc. The food was the quality of a cafeteria. Bright, modern breakfast dining area. Very friendly staff.

They seemed a bit understaffed. A bit of street noise if you're facing 8th St. I would have appreciated a few lighter options at breakfast.
