Coral Sands Motel

Have stayed here many times because the motel is centrally located in the city centre within walking distance to restaurants and bars.

Stayed 5 nights. Room was serviced daily except on Sunday.

For the budget conscious, this is a great motel. Pretty much right in the heart of Mackay CBD. There are lots of cafes, restaurants, and bars in walking distance. Coles is just down the road as well. The room was very clean and comfortable, and looks like it was refurbished recently. There is a microwave in the room, but you have to have your own utensils and plates, (this might be different in other rooms). Quite spacious for a motel. Under cover parking on-site, and for the ground floor rooms- right outside your door. There is a swimming pool and BBQ area in the complex as well. If I am travelling through Mackay again, I would definitely have another night here.

My bathroom could do with a bit of fresh paint, and a bit of TLC. Apart from very clean, and everything worked well.

When we arrived it was the first time I realised there was a second storey to the motel. We were given a ground floor room as I was unable to climb stairs after surgery and were personally shown to our parking spot. This was undercover, which was very helpful as it rained for several days. The place is very convenient for the city centre and a large shopping centre. My husband was able to walk to the centre and visit some of the tourist sites when the rain stopped. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

The weather!

From stepping in the moteL to leaving the manager/owner was fantastic - so friendly - cleaning staff very cheerful. The bed was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo comfy the pool was fantastic and good seating area for eating at night too in BBQ area Easy parking - some places are so tight Walking distance to so many restaurants and bars Will definitely stay again when in Mackay

Very reasonable cost for a very centrally located motel. Appreciate the managements effort to look after you. Nescafe coffee, good shower head and tissues provided. Many thanks

Nothing to do with the motel. Found the Austral hotel as recommended fully booked out on a Wednesday evening and staff a little rude. Tried the Malaysian restaurant close to the Austral and never had such tough meat in malaysian beef rendang. Should be meltingly slow cooked and tender. If you see the place, keep walking.

Lovely staff, Lovely room. Great location and great price. Had a restaurant as well as room service breakfast which is a fantastic bonus.

The only thing that could be improved would be the mattress. It was uncomfortable and I could feel the springs in it when sleeping. Other than that everything else was great. Lovely staff, Lovely room. Great location and great price.

Thanks Sal for a most enjoyable experience . Your friendliness and helpfulness put the icing on our 4 day stay. Nothing seemed a bother and we were treated far above that one would normally expect. Location , city restaurants bus transport all within walking distance. Many thanks for the ride to the airport. Great value for money with the hosts makingt our stay so much more enjoyable.

Only the weather

It's an old motel. However, don't let that fool you! Very clean and close to the shops. I just needed a bed, and this was in my price range. Will be back again!

Carpark was difficult to get in and out of with my Ford ranger. However, most people had big cars there at the same time, so it was a tight squeeze.

The staff were exceptional from the front desk to the cleaners. All were friendly, respectful, helpful and very accommodating with any request. They went above and beyond and made my stay there rely enjoyable. It was also nice to see the comradeship between staff.

Neat and tidy. I’m allergic to dust and had no issues. Slept like a log. Excellent water pressure. Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.

Wifi is pretty terrible but they have cable tv so not really a big deal. I was down the back away from the router probably so it’s to be expected.
