Somerset Grand Hanoi Serviced Residences

Location was great - good area and about a 7-10min walk to the south end of the lake. It's a nice walk to the north end of the lake where all the shops / night markets / food / beer places are. The 3 bedroom apartment was really big, lots of room for our family of 5 (3 teenage boys). There is a washing machine in the kitchen which was helpful - it is a washer/dryer combo. Also in the kitchen is a large water dispenser instead of individual water bottles which we liked. Nice clean bathrooms. The hotel restaurant and room service was good when you just needed a rest and something to eat without venturing into the madness of the city. Good variety of food at breakfast. Convenience store on ground floor which was useful for us. Hoa Lo prison relic is next door and worth a visit.

We stayed in the hotel for 10 Nights in August. Although not technically in the old quarter the location was better than expected as the hotel was pretty much dead centre in all the activities we did. The front desk staff and doormen were very helpful each morning when we were collected by our different tour companies. The twin bedroom aprartment with seperate full kitchen and washing machine was incredibly usefull. Apartment serviced daily, the pool was always clean and welcoming and the hotel had its own convinience store with everything you could imagine and items were cheaper than shops on the road. I would definately stay in this hotel again if we are ever in Hanoi. We did not eat in the hotel so cant say anything about the food and drinks.

We love this property. For some people this might be a little bit out of the way but we found the location to be perfect. Great walking distance from Old Town, French quarter and even as far as the temple of literature. Buffet breakfast was outstanding with so many choices and a good way to fill up before exploring Hanoi. Staff were very attentive and the local minimart was very handy addition. Highly recommend this accommodation if you’re looking for something outside of the hustle and bustle with large living areas and inclusion of a big swimming pool with plenty of sun lounges

The hotel food is yummy and have good varieties. The location is convenient as it is next to a convenience store, near nice eateries and near places of interests, like the Hoa Lo Prison, Old Quarters. The weather of Hanoi was very cold when we reached . It was good that there is a winter clothes shop just next to our hotel. We are celebrating our wedding anniversary for this Hanoi trip and it is lovely the hotel arranged a bottle of wine and macaron for us. Thank you.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom family apartment at the Somerset Hanoi. The location itself was very convenient with quick access to the Old Quarter and with a supermarket on the ground floor accessible from inside the hotel. The view was amazing and the amenities were very clean and well serviced. We enjoyed the use of the large pool area and gym which were easily accessible and enjoyable. The staff were also incredibly friendly and assisted us with finding our way throughout the city and ensuring our stay was comfortable.

Arrived at the hotel very early so we could not check-in but we got access to the gym with showers, swimming pool, rest/lounge area. This was great as we had just spent the night in the train so we needed a place to relax. The staff was very helpful for other requests too. The apartment on the 14th floor has a nice view, nicely furnished and a nice layout with two bathrooms which makes it great for families. The location is also great, within walking distance to the Hoan Kiem lake, the train station, and many shops, cafes and restaurants.

The furniture, paint and decoration in the room starts to show its age, but otherwise is still good. The electric sockets didn't really work for us. They could barely hold our EU plugs so charging our devices was a bit difficult.

1. The fact that the 81-meter aparthotel suite (but they called it by another name) was spacious and had 2 rooms + 2 bathrooms, allowing us to have some privacy, AND a little kitchen (too bad we didn't make use of much, except for the drinking fountain & washing machine + big fridge) AND LARGE living room. :-)))) 2. The fabulous breakfast (except that the staff there wanted to charge us again for the food!) with both western & Vietnamese foods (although the chef making omlet might not look his best every day it was okay). 3. The 24-hour BIG & very clean fitness with practically everything + swimming pool AND a little library next to it 4. The friendly staff most of whom could speak English & knew where to go 5. The FREE drinking fountain in the kitchen & the good washing machine (good that the staff told us that afterwards the clothes would be 80% dry which meant we had to dry them up in the rooms--meaning we had to calculate the time to dry them before I left). :-))) 6. The little shopping mart right next to the lobby/front desk--but the 2 days we walked there it was closed for inventory.

1. We didn't mind it that the place was right next to an old prison turned into a museum (we didn't visit) but the place was a bit far from the Hoan Kiem Lake (about 25 minutes walk)--but, on the good side, we could window shop all the little stores and cafes along the way--Hanoi is full of these little cute cafes (reminding us of Paris). 2. As mentioned, we didn't like it when we were almost double charged for the breakfast. Good that one of us had the nerve to ask and refuse paying again. This happened twice, making us deduct 1 mark out of the 10. BUT on the whole, this Somerset Grand is great. We will return there again. :-)))

Great centrally located hotel. Very spacious apartments with cooking facilities and even a washing machine/ dryer. The staff are great and special mention must be made of Som the Bar Manager who is amazing. Haven't seen a more welcoming and switched on bar manager in a long time. His customers are "king" and his staff are encouraged to do their best. Restaurant had a great menu and food and service excellent. Breakfast had a good mix of both western and asian choices. Pool area is big though not very busy due to the season. Rooms were serviced daily and while the hotel is a number of years old it was lovely and clean. Check out process great and staff ensured we understood all the charges. Would definitely recommend.

The location was pretty close to Old Quarter and Sword Lake. There is a "night street" nearby, so when I was jet-lagged the first few days, I was able to get some food late at night. The service was great. The staff always went above and beyond. The amenities were great as well! I loved that there was a huge gym with lots of machines and a yoga room, a pool and jacuzzi, a tennis court and play area. There is even a supermarket in the hotel where we can buy the essentials like toiletries, milk, water, laundry detergent, etc. A maid comes every day to clean our rooms. She ever washed our dishes. Her name is Hang and she is great! I liked that there was a washer/dryer in our room. We were able to do laundry which was a great convenience!

I booked a three bedroom apartment, and my room is a little old. There are some cracks on the wall paint. The grout line on the sink in one of the bathrooms has mold on it. It looks like it's fused onto the grout line or maybe is underneath it. I tried wiping it off, but it wouldn't come off. I was a little worried that it wouldn't be good for my health if I were to breathe it in; also, that didn't look very appealing. The beds weren't the most comfortable. The mattress is spring-loaded and I found my back hurting after sleeping on it for a few days. It would be great if the hotel can slowly upgrade to memory foam mattresses.
