Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Cortland

I was pleasantly surprised by the updated bathrooms with big beautiful showers and I loved the mounted containers of shampoo, conditioner and body wash- so much less plastic waste and so much more convenient! The room was clean and comfortable and it was nice to have a mini-fridge and microwave. The breakfast was great, there were so many options, we all ate really well in the mornings. The kids also swam in the pool for hours.

When we arrived on Thursday the pool was really cold. Like so cold that my 5 year old was shivering so badly I made her get out. I wouldn't focus so much on it but we only live 20 minutes away, we were only staying at a hotel to swim in the pool. The next time we used the pool it was warm though so maybe something just wasn't working on Thursday.

The common areas were extremely clean. Breakfast was handled well despite the modifications that had to be made to accommodate those who are living in fear of COVID. The room was comfortable and clean.

No staff were at the desk when we arrived shortly after 3 PM. A maintenance person had to go roust someone from what appeared to be a breakroom. Weary travelers coming in off the road prefer not to have to stand about in the lobby waiting for someone to appear. Also, the toilet in the newly renovated bathroom was extremely low to the floor, making it very uncomfortable to use with compromised knee joints. Installing "comfort height" toilets during the renovation would have made more sense, since many folks have achy knees.

I love the fact that it is only 15 minutes from my daughter's college, which was the reason we went to Cortland. for her 20th birthday and we went to celebrate with her. Also this hotel have the most comfortable beds and pillows my family and I freaking love it. I really recommend it.

I didn’t like the fact that breakfast end so early. I’m strong believer that it should be till 11:00am. or at least 10:00am. It was 5 of us and non couldn’t get it. We are so used to woke up early every day, to go to work or to go to school, that when we are on a 2 days one night vacation that the last thing we want to do.

Clean and spacious rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Sky (front desk) was exceptional. Her customer service was spot on. Customer Service is so important and sometimes you can have all the great qualities like this location has but if the staff isn’t on par, it could definitely ruin your stay. Fortunately the entire staff was wonderful but Sky was truly their shining star.

The grab and go breakfast was just OK but I know that that is because of the pandemic so taking that into account there was a variety of items to choose from so it’s not really a complaint. it’s just something we all have to deal with at this particular time.

I didn't like the single serve coffee pot. I like a fresh pot of coffee. Enough for both of us but always coffee in lobby so made up for it. Microwave did not work but it was quickly replaced. I also didn't like having to go get new towels. Pandemic is almost over.. go back to cleaning service.. Other than those few things the stay was fantastic! Most cordial and friendliest staff I've ever had at a hotel. Overnight ladies were exceptional! Very clean, comfortable beds, room a little small but good. Again can't say enough about how fantastic the staff were. Give them a bonus!!

Friendly staff. Location. Seemed clean.

The lack of toiletries & towels. The t.v. never works for me and my daughter. (Room 100) The breakfast wasn't great, some sausage cold and lacking options. There was no creamer and the juice from the machine is never pleasant.

The room and bed were quite comfortable. 2 very large TV sets were in the room as well. Staff was friendly.

Breakfast was not the greatest. I had the scrambled eggs and sausage. The eggs had very little flavor, but the sausage was decent.

Shower was clean for the most part but (was a hair or 2 that were not ours on the wall) Micro Fridge had a can of Budweiser left in it presumably from previous guest. Temperature of the room was very difficult to regulate. Slept with the AC on (set at 64 degrees) but we still woke up sweating during the night . Strange for February in Cortland NY Walls are a bit thin as sounds from the connecting room were easily heard

Dawn from the front desk staff went out if her way to accommodate my family. She was always warm and welcoming and did more than anyone would normally do to make sure we were well taken care of. She alone is a reason to stay again. Much love and appreciation all the way from Brooklyn NY.

A safe in the room would be a recommendation. We had valuables that we werent sure about being left unsecured.

The breakfast was great with a lot of choices. The staff member that was stocking the food was very nice, cheerful and friendly. The location was great less than 10 minutes from the location of the baseball fields. The room was very nice and clean.
