Easy access from Hwy 101 a couple of exits south of the county admin center. Convenient parking right next to the room. Nice size room with alcove where desk / working table is located - very nice size to set up computer and still have space for coffee / access to the microwave w/o having to rearrange things. Mini-refrigerator, microwave, coffee with Wolfgang Puck coffee (pretty tasty!) The lighting fixtures on the working table included USB for charging phones and tablets. Bed was very comfortable. The heating / air con unit works well.

I had difficulty getting the water in the shower as hot as I would have liked - that was really the only negative. Location comment: There aren’t any restaurants in the immediate area so driving is a must.

charming California traditional motel that has been updated for style and comfort. we couldn’t fault it! it seems to be family owned and operated, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating, making sure we could check in even after a very delayed flight to SFO. our room had 2 beds, with mattresses better than we have at home, a fridge, TV, and modern shower. we slept really well. the neighborhood is quiet and so were the other guests! there are pastries and coffee at reception for a quick breakfast, and a couple of seating areas outside. a perfect stop over for road trips or breaking a journey! thank you!

They manage to have a charming motel in a tiny slice of real estate and it is just amazing. From the easy check-in to the friendly staff always willing to help we liked absolutely everything. The decor is a bit dated and I mean just a bit. They have clearly up graded since the photos on the website were taken.

There was really only one thing. The TV controls are super confusing and while we could see that we should be able to log into by our Netflix account, we could not. However we weren’t there for TV we were there for a wonderful wedding and only spent a few hours in the rooms anyway.

Very clean. This is a charming little motel. The room was quite large and well-equipped. The staff that I dealt with was SO nice! Great people there. The corner room has a great layout. Much better than the typical roo as beds are perpendicular. Coffee in the office is Starbucks and tasty. Filtered water for filling our water bottles was a bonus! I would absolutely recommend Marin Lodge and will definitely stay there again when I am in the area.

Nothing! It was great!

I was very impressed with this hotel. It's off a street that runs parallel to the 101, so it's easy to access. Though it is very close to a major highway and you do get some noise, the hotel does a great job making it feel a bit more secluded by separating the parking area and hotel from the street by a line of mature trees and foliage. Each door into each room is separated by pines which add a real beauty to the hotel. It's very quaint-looking, having an old school, but modern "motel" look about it. Clean grounds, clean rooms, friendly service. I would definitely stay here again. Great price for Marin.

There was nothing I disliked about it.

The rooms were very clean. Bed comfortable. Checkin was fast. The couple running it are hustling around so no surprise things are in order. my wife and I will come back.

only reason I gave 9/10 is because a neighbor was talking late at night and keeping us up. my wife banged in the wall and they stopped. Normally you would not have an issue here.

This place sort of hides behind the trees, but we are sure glad we found it. The main “like” has to be the room. It can be a matter of courtesy to say a room is spic and span … but if a room ever could be described as spic and span (and neat as a pin), it’s this one. Comfortable, nicely furnished … I don’t know what else to stay about the room. Also a nice, straightforward continental breakfast availability in the office.

It was too cold outside. 🤓

Very clean and quiet. Super friendly staff. Easy and secure parking in tree shaded area right outside the room. We stayed in February (windows closed), and the rooms seemed to be all booked but we didn't hear any sounds from other guests or from the nearby highway.

Not much to walk to from this location. But we had a car and lots to do in the area.

I liked that there was plenty of parking close to the rooms, upon check in, we were offered sodas and waters. Ice machine available at check in desk, Coffee was available in lobby. The rooms were large and the TV was perfect view from the soft bed.

Not many channel choices on tv, no hot tub, not walking distance to eat

Marin Lodge is a very nicely upgraded 1950s era motel. It's quiet and peaceful, with many attractive trees and shrubs concealing it from the street. Bed and lounge chair were very comfortable, and room lighting was exceptionally good (5 lamps plus overhead fixture with ceiling fan). With open windows (in August), we didn't need a/c for our entire 4-night stay. Location is very handy to downtown San Rafael and only a couple of minutes from Hwy 101 access. An excellent "take-out" breakfast included coffee, fruit, and assorted pastries. Friendly and very obliging staff.

Because of its age, Marin Lodge rooms are on the small side compared to those of chain motels. Storage (particularly drawer space) is quite limited, though there's a fair amount of counter/shelf/desk space. Seating - in our rooms - was limited to one desk chair and one lounge chair with ottoman.
