Zoey. Shower nozzles. Location. Breakfast. Waiter. My number one like is Zoey. She is the BEST representative of a hotel I've encountered (and I'm 81). Having hired, trained, and overseen hundreds of employees in my career, I can tell you that I've never encountered a better overall member of a staff. Her personality is truly exceptional. I have no idea what her salary is, but I can assure you that she's underpaid. I had a choice of a rain shower and hand-held - in the same shower! Breakfast was the best I've been offered in a hotel. Cooked to order, with a wide variety of delicious foods. Admittedly, I've never stayed at the Waldorf Astoria, but I'd bet the breakfast is no better there. Lastly, the waiter (sorry I didn't ask his name) was exceptional...very attentive without being overbearing. He moves quickly and efficiently, with a charming personality to boot. The time we spent at the King's Arms was worth the highest rating possible! BTW, I have never been there before, I do not know the owners,, I have no affiliation with this hotel, and I have never spent this much time writing a review. I live in the U.S., and I just loved my experience.at the King's Arms.

Annoyed at when using restaurant facilities for breakfast or dinner I was mostly shown to a table/seat in a corner out of the way and often not even in the dining room, with tables laid with tablecloth and usual 'niceties'. I did, wherever appropriate, not accept what I was offered but asked for a better location which was provided, but as a lone traveller I resent being treated as somewhat different to couples or parties etc.

The rear entrance, via the car park, into the hotel was not very 'welcoming'. No check in desk just walk up to the bar and let them know who you are!? The carpet in the entry up to my room and the stair carpet up to my room are filthy and require ripping out and replacing and then being subject to regular 'proper' cleaning.

I cannot say enough great things about the staff at this hotel. I had loads of family coming into town for my wedding weekend, and they were absolutely brilliant throughout the whole process - from rescheduling and shuffling rooms around weeks in advance, to absolutely perfect and accommodating service while we all took over the town of Montacute, to going above and beyond with my grandfather and his wheelchair when he got sick during our stay. Hands down recommend this hotel. On top of all that, the food at the pub is delicious.

The staff were outstanding, from the moment we arrived Zoe and the team couldn't do enough for us. The two young front of House members were exceptional in running the restaurant in the evenings and Zoe really brought heart and soul to the ambiance and mood of the place. The food was 5 star, the Chef certainly knows how to get fabulous flavours from even the most basic vegetables. Steak exceptional and the fish and chips was the best I've ever had. Cider batter light and crispy. Will be back for sure.

The managers mum came in and was verbally abusive to a member of staff. It was loud and uncomfortable. Whilst i understand she had a personal upset in her family I don't think it appropriate to do what she did in public. I hope her daughter gets better soon.

Lovly stay in early December. Well placed to visit other attractions - National Trust House Montecute House - just down road in the village. Lovely old Inn. Very friendly and helpful staff. Really big warm room and bed. Old furniture suited room - modern would look out of place. Wallpaper gave modern twist but suited room and style. Lots of lighting options in room from lamps and central dimming chandelier. Cooked Breakfast big and tastey. Nice choices. Choices for 'vegies' and vegan diets. Evening meal tastey and lovely homemade ice cream and sorbet. Good to be able to park on site but route up to carpark tight and uphill. Good lawn area but not right time year to use. Be lovely on summer evening.

Lovely big bathroom but really cold as only heat source towel rail.Towels nice and thick and fluffy. Be wonderful to use stand alone bath in spring, summer and warmer autumn. Shower was warm and good waterflow. Real fire was warm and inviting in bar area - be nice to have central fire working in dining room/ bar eating space. Add extra warmth, charm and atmosphere.

The staff were lovely, helpful, polite, kind, and have great service . The bed was comfy and had a relaxed, quiet sleep. The village was lovely to walk around, and the visit to Mountacute House, which was a great experience, is only 1 minute walking distance. The dinner steak we had was delicious, fresh, and beautifully served.

It can be better by simply making sure all dust in the room on surfaces and in the wardrobe is wiped clean, and the bathroom is properly cleaned and dust free.

Situated in a lovey village with just a short walk to Montacute House. General friendliness of the staff, great room and good breakfast. We had room 11 which is a good size, it faces the front and has a fun animal themed decor. Next door to a church, but we did not hear any bells.

There is limited on site parking(only 6 or 7 cars), however we arrived at 4pm on a Sunday just as the lunch guests were leaving, so we were ok. There is some on road parking. Minor point, we had a two night stay and our towels were not changed.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room was comfortable. The bathroom was small but adequate, not much room between the toilet and sink, and a little grubby in places. The food was delicious and the breakfast was very filling. The staff did an excellent job considering they were short-staffed. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return if back in the area.

The only downside was the drone of the fans that we assumed was from the kitchen that kept us awake and the noise of the other guests along the corridor, we could also hear when the guests next door had their shower running. We understand this is unavoidable due to the layout of the rooms etc. Not really a complaint but the rooms would benefit from a deep clean and a lick of paint as there were signs of mold in the bathroom and the window.

The room was bright and clean and the weather was exceptionally hot and there were two windows that could be opened for fresh air. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice and hot food served piping hot. We are not dog lovers but this is a dog friendly Inn, however they were no bother at all.

One little niggle. The toilet in the en - suite was tucked in the corner and I found it difficult to get off, as I am slightly disabled. How to solve that problem I do not know.

Lovely, welcoming staff. Beautiful location. Pleasant room to stay in for one night. Breakfast good, dinner fantastic food by a great chef!!

Unfortunate incident at night. Horrible vibrating noise at night from another guest's bathroom fan. Kept us awake for a while. We and the other guest sorted it out. BUT we realised we had no contact number for after hours help if needed.
