Staff were amazing, so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. They were pleasant professional and friendly. The rooms were clean and fresh. Our room wasn't ready so we were able to leave our bags in another locked bedroom until we returned on the evening which was brilliant.

Unfortunately there was no option for breakfast which was a little disappointing, however with this said the owners are new and I have every faith that this will be resumed in the future. It was also a little difficult to check out. Our check out time was 10am but nobody was in the bar to hand back the keys, so maybe a drop box or something would be handy.

The room was comfortable. Well decorated. All we needed for a nights sleep. Friendly bar staff. Food available.

The shared bathroom (which was just the toilet as their was a shower and basin in the room). I did know what I was getting when I booked. The only issue I had with the shared toilet was fear of locking myself out of my room at night. It was noisy but again it was a very hot Saturday night and there was a 21st birthday. It did quieten day at about 11.30pm. (You know you are staying in a pub so expect some level of noise)

It was close to the venue we attended for a family wedding. it had everything we needed in terms of a wardrobe to hang clothes, plenty of towels and the shower even had it’s own shampoo / body wash dispenser

We had to walk through a busy beer garden with the kids to check in and there was quite a lot of bad language. we did book knowing at was a pub and this sort of thing was to be expected, but this is honestly the only thing I would say I didn’t like about the property / set up.

Absolutely brilliant place, a combination of a pub and hotel with some of the loveliest and most accommodating staff around! Checked in on a Saturday afternoon, the process was smooth, I had dinner from the extensive food menu and the locals couldn't have been more friendly! Returned from my night late, getting in and to my room was a piece of cake, and in the morning I had a delicious fried breakfast prepared whilst I checked out! Couldn't be happier, what is a simple room was really elevated by everyone involved. Couldn't recommend more for anyone looking for a place to sleep whilst out in Durham (or just having a night downstairs!)

The pressure in the shower was disappointing, occasionally slowing to a trickle as if everyone was in the showers at the same time, but both it and I got there in the end. The only blemish on an otherwise flawless stay!

The breakfast choices will definitely provide a hearty meal to set anyone up for the day. On your return your evening meal choice again is superb, which again are filling. I have to say I have never experienced such a warm hand of friendship from the locals in the bar, especially being a total outsider. I am looking to return for a further stay sooner rather than later The decor through out provides indication of the past mining heritage with fantastic murals adorning the walls which are complemented with archive photos (including some of the locals).

It is hard to say anything negative, however if I have to be open then the mattress on the bed was not the best and could be replaced. My booking out was Monday morning and it was a disappointment that breakfast wasn't available and it is probably correct to believe that this maybe something that will be provided through out the summer season. Not is all lost as coffee and tea making facilities are available in the room with facilities across the valley and in to Stanley to be found. Good food but not of the standard the Punch Bowl

Clean and updated rooms located above a cool little pub. Yes, there will be sounds of some revelry filtering up from the patrons below, but you know going in that’s what comes with such a quintessential stay. Easy check-in/check out. We opted for dinner and service was great — delicious, piping hot meals and huge portions. Shot some pool in the pub before heading upstairs. It was a fun, relaxing evening for our family of 5. Would definitely recommend staying here as a pit stop passing through or while in the area to see Beamish Museum.

Nothing to note.

Very friendly staff , had an evening meal which was excellent ,great menu and the food was delicious

Disappointed to be told on arrival that they don`t do Breakfasts on a Thurs Morning , which we expected with the booking, if you are traveling within the Area ,don`t depend on Taxi Services , we had visited friends who were staying at another hotel 10 miles away and attempted at midnight to get a return taxi to the Punch Bowl ,and could not get one till 04.30 in the morning ! so late night taxi service in area is very poor

Everything was just so lovely. We stayed there as we were going into Sunderland for our concert. Everything from start to finish was just perfect. lovely Italian, breakfast too in the morning (we just paid on the morning for this) The room was immaculate and the Staff were just gorgeous and welcoming. It’s true what they say people are so friendly the further north you go! We booked Stanley taxi’s too who were equally as lovely! If we go that way again then we WILL be back! Thank you xxx

All the staff were absolutely lovely. The decor of the room was gorgeous and the on-site parking handy. This pub is the hub of the local community and feels like it, super friendly and active. Bed very comfy, room & ensuite wonderfully clean and the full English breakfast - divine. I'm glad Durham was fully booked and I'll return even if it's not in the future.

Literally nothing. The sound from the bar might bother some but I didn't mind at all.
