I stayed here about 6 or 7 years ago, it was quite run down then. There has been quite an improvement, especially the room I was in. Staff were friendly and helpful. Especially a young blond girl at breakfast, I forgot to get her name, but I overheard her saying she was 19. She had an excellent attitude to all the guests and was very proficient at her job. I hope she either works her way up through management or realises her dreams. Anyway the room was clean and comfortable. You had to step into a high sided bath to have a shower. For people that have minor mobility issues this will not be easy. Normal amenities like shampoo/shower gel. For what I paid it was about right. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. Oh forgot to say, yes the place is dog friendly, they keep dogs on one side of the restaurant. So people that are allergic or not a fan of dogs are kept separate. Which is good. As accommodates both types of guests. As it's really frustrating when hotels say they are dog friendly, but are only dog tolerant (a massive difference) This hotel is dog friendly. Also there are good grass areas near the hotel, with secure footpaths. So you can have a morning or late evening walk. So overall it had everything I needed for a comfortable stay, friendly and efficient staff. With good facilities for my dog and I

The only real negative was the lack of power sockets in the room. As most people now have laptops, phones plus tablets. Especially if you are a couple of family traveling. So just be aware, possibly take a 4 gang extension lead or something. I'm sure if they got a sparky to upgrade the sockets to a double gang and with usb ports it wouldn't take much. The only other negative was someone's painting skills with the furniture in the restaurant (using a paint brush) As it's just been painted black, using the wrong paint. The black looks good, just the finish is poor. So looks naff lol.

The staff are friendly and efficient. No standing around. There was a particular girl, it was her first night. It was extremely busy and guests were queuing up to book in. As there was a local event on. She handled the situation very well without getting flustered. So she dealt with the queue very quickly. The duty manager was about and helping when she could. Room was spotless again and up to their normally good standards One night there was an extremely aggressive dog that joined us in the doggie area of the restaurant. I was extremely unnerved and worried for the safety of my dog. Which I raised with the owners. I was accused of bullying them. Another dog entered the area and the aggressive dog kicked off again. To the point my very sweet dog was cowering under the table. So words were exchanged between the dogs owners and I. At which point the duty manager stepped in and moved them. The only possible solution to keep all parties content. So well handled by the duty manager. Breakfast was good as usual. There are always a couple of staff that really stand out. No exception on this stay. 'Skyler' is one of them. Very courteous and professional. Very good at her job especially for such a young soul. The other girl, I think her name was Rachel, her first ever shift and coped well with an extremely busy environment.

My only problem. Is the lack of power sockets. I highly recommend you upgrade them to a double gang with usb outlets. This will really help

Breakfast was excellent as was Location. Staff were very helpful. We had dinner 2 night and the food was first class. Had we known it was going to be so good we would have eaten here all 3 night. Every member of staff we saw were very nice and welcoming. I'm not sure if it was a manager but the lady that lives on site had a great knowledge of places to go that we would never had known about.

We were a family of 4 and our rooms were on different floors which was disappointing, made worse by being told we were not allowed to hang out in each others rooms because of fire, health and safety. Having a 14 and 16 year old sisters separated was a shame for them.

Fantastic breakfast and really friendly staff. Skyler and Gemma were great. Room was small but adequate. Loved the inner door to minimise noise from the corridor. Great idea! TV, tea/coffee making facilities, wardrobe with hangers, extra pillows, radiator and liquid soaps in the bathroom. Adequate lighting. Comfortable nights sleep. Good evening meal choices, reasonably priced. Great location for accessing newcastle by public transport. Would stay again.

The decor was a little tired, but it didn't detract from our stay. A few more plug sockets would be helpful.

The staff were all lovely, especially the chef at breakfast time. Also, the 2 women & young man who checked us in and out were very welcoming, friendly & helpful, filling my water bottle with fresh water and ice for me. The breakfast was lovely. The chef cooked it exactly how I requested, and these things make all the difference to your stay. The restaurant area & bar are very welcoming & well maintained too with a light, airy atmosphere.

The rooms are a little bit dated and quite basic, though mostly have the essentials and ours was very clean. My young daughter and I found the beds to be very comfortable, too. Unfortunately, in our room, the only socket to charge both of our mobile phones was up on the wall, next to the light switch by the door. Another socket, in a better position, would be helpful. I would suggest oiling the doors as they began creaking open from 5am, when guests were leaving, then banging closed, maybe the slow close hinges need attention.

The location was handy as it was just of the A1, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. The rooms were big enough for our short stay and, as my partner cannot walk far, they gave us a room close to the entrance.

The bathroom was a little tired with some of the fittings showing their age and there was no anti slip mat in the bath which made it rather dangerous. The heater in the bathroom said that it was disconnected for safety reasons and the whole room was heated by a wall hung convection heater in the bedroom. The cooked breakfast was amazing but I would have liked fresh fruit and yoghurt to start with as well as cereals.

Arrival and check in was easy; room was comfortable if a little basic - but this was expected at this end of the budget. It was certainly clean and spacious. Evening meal was fine, the breakfast was good - highly impressed with the poached eggs which came perfectly cooked with no taste of vinegar (a problem I've found in much more expensive establishments). Good space for the dog, nice touch with the poo bags and good to see a pet-friendly section of the restaurant.

With only one bath towel each and no hand towels I thought that was a little sparse. There was a smell of cigarettes in the corridor from the far stairwell (next to our room) probably wafted in from guests smoking at the doorway. Glad to say the room smelled fresh and the smoke did not penetrate

The location was perfect for meeting scheduled for the following day. Room was very good, clean comfy, I did like the working space as this meant I could get admin done, using free wi-fi so happy with that. Food was excellent.

TV in room was a little dated, however, this may be a good thing as it helped me focus on work. I had a beer with meal and then took a beer to room, I think I may have been charged for 3 as I paid food tab, Im not 100% as one receipt says pre-authorisation, once i have my statement I know and can then raise.

The staff were lovely and could not do enough for guests. The chef did a fantastic breakfast each morning. The wait staff Skylar and Bekka were fantastic. The cleaning staff were lovely also as were the management. Yes this hotel could do with a but of investment but the rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. This hotel is very handy if visiting Newcastle which is only 10 mins away. There are a few hotels around this part along with a Toby Carvery and Champs sports bar down the road if you want a change of scene. Thank youagain to all the staff for making our stay lovely.

The bathroom was a bit cold but sorted this by leaving the door open. The hotel does need investment and the management know this but I really could not fault the staff, they are a credit to this company.

A very warm and helpful welcome from Michael. All of the staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast cooked to order - superb poached eggs. There was ample parking. We do not have an electric car but noted plenty of charging points.

There seemed to be no lift in the hotel which with a heavy suitcase would have been a benefit. Our bedroom lacked sufficient power sockets - important for using laptop and charging phones etc. Th e bed was comfortable but the mattress needs replacing.
