The location was a lovely calming area the Bed & Breakfast was very good and my room comfortable with one of the best breakfast every morning i have ever had Terri and her husband were very nice people and the pub is a lovely friendly pub good atmosphere had a chat with a great bloke called Fred has been a regular there for over 20 years its a great area for walking if you dont drive a car and the bus service is very good and will get you to Newcastle,Gateshead,Durham and into Stanley town centre.Tantobie is a very nice place also it has a store just across the road if you beed anything, i would certainly recommend The Oak Tree Inn to stay at i eill certainly go back again.

Terri The manager is a credit to the industry Warm and friendly and catered for all our needs The full English breakfast is excellent value for money I would highly recommend staying here There is evening entertainment on over the weekend in the pubic bar downstairs Bar prices are very reasonable There is also a shop just across the road that stocks just about everything you my need The bus stop is also just outside We will be back

None comes to mind

The room was a good size, very clean with a lovely bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities. Bed and pillows were comfy. Breakfast was great - full English with toast and jam, good sized pot of lovely strong tea. Terri, is a really lovely host. The pub itself is a good local community pub with a real mix of characters. We were only there Friday and Saturday nights and the entertainment on both nights was great, pub was really busy with a lovely atmosphere.

We stayed in room 2 which is above the pub and just at the top of the stairs so there was a fair bit of noise. However, we really only noticed the noise when we returned to freshen up after our days out and then we went down to the pub to enjoy the entertainment. There is accommodation separate from the property, just a the back and we talked to Terri about booking this the next time we visit.

I was self contained apart from going into the main building for breakfast. The facilities were good for what I required. I paid extra for a breakfast but it was excellent and good value. The owner was very friendly.

No way of blocking out the light from the entrance door. Am attempt at doing this had been done at the fan light above but I think it should be possible to put up velcro for a black out curtain to be attached and removed.

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding nearby. The location was perfect. The room was massive and very clean and comfortable. The owner was so friendly and accommodating, allowing us to check in past 11pm. The breakfast was lovely, home made to order and your table set out for you to come down to. She also gave us taxi numbers to get to the wedding venue. Just all round lovely helpful service.

Terri and Steve were top class and very good hosts.Terri also made a lovely freshly cooked breakfast. Lovely big clean room too

A couple in the room opposite had dogs that had clearly been in the rain and the dog was smelling quite bad. I would be concerned at getting a room after clients had brought dogs although I'm certain thoroughly cleaned afterwards.

We stayed for one night 24th June. We were an adult family of 3. My husband and I had a double room above the pub and out daughter had a single room in the Annex. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and we joined the speed quiz in the evening which was so much fun and we were made to feel very welcome. Both rooms were comfortable and like previous comments there is a tiny bit of noise from downstairs but it wasn’t an issue and didn’t last long - people just having fun. Breakfast was £5 each and very good value for money. We would definitely make a return visit when visiting family in the area again.

Very welcoming

Rooms were excellent breakfast was wonderful shame about no evening meals but but ordered a takeaway and the Oak supplied the plates and cutlery which was good of them.The best nights sleep i have had for many years.Terri and her husband could not do enough if they carrion this way they will do well they are a great family and wish them every happiness not that they would need it.Its a shame when some places seem to not care about there customers just the money.This couple where superb wish them every luck in the world.

Nothing

Finally a place that has everything but most importantly atmosphere. The big chains have rooms and no personality but the Oak Tree has it in spades. Rooms are big airy and warm. Bed is more than comfortable and the shower was nice and hot too. It was also nice downstairs in the bar where there was a wide choice of beers and spirits and the locals made us welcome as well.

Having to leave, but we will be back in '23. I honestly can't think of anything that I didn't like.

We were looking round the North East for a car and stumbled on this not having any idea or knowledge of it , we walked in and at first thought we might not be welcome aa it appeared to just be a local but couldn't of been further from the truth there was karaoke and games and music all evening the staff and locals were all so friendly we felt really relaxed
