I travelled for 4 hours by car and was welcomed by beautiful grounds and extremely friendly staff. Registered the car on the system easily and was then checked in. I was given the key and guided to the area I was in, The Garden Rooms are almost Chalet/apartment style within a private garden which is a suntrap and at night it was well lit. With it being set separately from the main "Manor House" I did not know what to expect. Along a gravel path through the main gardened areas. there is the Chalet block. Paving stone path, with a good sheltered walkway. Outside each Chalet is a small patio with table and chairs which looks out onto the garden. I can imagine that this is good for parents with children to play safely for a short time as it is large and enclosed. Also, it would be great to book the block for an event/birthday/seminar etc. I actually preferred this style of accomodation as there are no clattering of people down corridors through the night. It was very quiet and my next door was occupied and I barely heard them walk past and certainly not anything through the walls. The room I was in was really tidy and clean. It has a desk, chair, lamp, tea, coffee, iron, ironing board, TV (samsung) all great and clean. Bathroom was a wetroom, and had a skylight instead of a window which was really quite bright so I never needed to put the light on (July) there was really fluffy towels and bathrobes too. The bed was very comfortable with good supportive pillows and felt new. I only stayed the one night as I went to see a show. Checkout was easy and so all around was a great stay. The price for this was only a sliver above the usual Chain hotels and so it was a total no brainer to pay £12 more to spend the night somewhere that bit nicer.

Not sure of anything I could say negative about this place or my experience.

on a sunny evening, the garden and lake are perfect for an evening switch off and relax away from work.

Small room at top of awkward stairs but I appreciate the cost was probably less than the main bedrooms. however, smacked head on angled ceiling, tripped up large step into bathroom, smacked head on TV going round bed and almost fell down stars with bag leading. Apart from that all was good and I don’t really have a problem with those points as the cost of the room enabled me to stay in a lovely setting watching Red Kites flying over the garden.

Stayed in Gatehouse rm 027 Was worried as we were shown room as the building looked so tired and in need of serious maintenance, but inside was loverly. Huge bathroom with roll-top bath & and separate shower. Water pressure was amazing and bath filled superquick. Water scalding hot, so be careful. The bed was massive. 2 freestanding heaters had been on, so room was toasty. Tea making facilities ok but no biscuits. Great value for money. Breakfast was really good cooked buffet. Continental side lacked fruit salad. Yes, I'd stay again, Happily.

Would have loved bowl of Fresh Fruit Salad & scotch pancakes for Breakfast. Bed Quilt was bit thin & lightweight.

The whole day went extremely well. We were attending a Family Wedding---of my wife's Great Grandson. We arrived about 12noon for The Wedding Service at 1pm. We parked our car and proceeded to Reception , where we were directed to our Meeting Point in the Bar. After a few minutes, we were invited to proceed to the Bar outside the Wedding Room* where we waited to be invited into the WR *. We went in about 1pm and The Service started about 1.15--as The Bride's party were late in arriving. The Service was conducted by The Registrar-I think. It was all handled very well. The room was decorated in the most delightful way. It was amazing !!! The Service ended and we all showered The Happy Couple with Rose petals. We were then invited to vacate the room while it was re-arranged to become the Restaurant---to which we returned about 1 hour later--as we were scheduled to partake in The Wedding Breakfast** @ 15.30. This was excellent !! The speeches pre-ceded the WB ** Afterwards, we were again invited to vacate the WR* --while the room was yet again re-configured --this time to The Ballroom ***. . We spent the rest of the evening till about 11.50 dancing, talking and drinking--at which time we were all asked to meet The Happy Couple outside---we did not know why at the time-although we were expecting a Fireworks Display. We all assembled on the rear terrace--The Happy Couple were waiting for us there. Then, as midnight struck --for the end of 2022 and start of 2023---the Display started --totally synchronised with the chimes of Big Ben (I assume). Then, after a magnificent Firework Display we all sang "Sweet Caroline" at the behest of The Happy Couple". We then returned to TB***---where we stayed till about 1am-when we returned our room --The Suite (Room 5). We met the rest of the Guests for breakfast about 9.

The only thing we didn't like was The Weather--But that was obviously beyond the control of The Hotel's proprietors !! WE COULD NOT FAULT ANYTHING AT ALL-----CAN ONLY DESCRIBE THE WHOLE STAY AS MAGNIFICENT !!!

Really stunning looking country house, grounds & location fir where we needed to be. Huge bedroom, clean and comfy beds. Breakfast menu wasn’t extensive but what was offered was well done.

nothing to complain about really. the decor in the bedroom was a tad down market - torn curtains, chipped wooden furniture - but we were happy to overlook this as the room was so big, the beds and bedding were comfy and clean and we felt our stay was well priced - 2 nights BnB over BH weekend for 3 of us. would happily stay again.

Was a nice quiet location and had great grounds that were perfect to walk the dog. Staff were very friendly and our little dog got a sausage at breakfast which was nice. Hate house handy if you have a dog.

Only couple of problems were the room was clean but a little tired. Staff kept forgetting to top up tea and coffee stuff and forgot toilet rolls one morning. Maybe the main house is nicer as the gate house is more for let owners.

The staff were absolutely lovely and the place is really beautiful. We loved that we could bring our dog and the grounds were perfect for walks and playtime with him. The room was quite big which was helpful with finding space for the dog crate. Breakfast was really nice as well, good choice and tasty.

The pillows weren't very comfortable as they were really firm which is a very minor thing, and other than that there isn't anything we could fault.

The location, building and grounds were beautiful. The staff were welcoming, helpful and cheerful. I was particularly impressed with the choice and quality of the evening meal which was offered for a £25 upgrade. Delicious and great value for money.

There was nothing not to like. The only improvements that could be made in the room is the paintwork was a bit tired and chipped in places and I found the bed a bit hard (but that is a matter of preference)

The property and gardens are lovely. The team was very service-friendly; I had an early check in which was very appreciated and despite the kitchen being closed, the chef made up a sandwich for me when I arrived. The food was good but the staff and service are the best. Considering all other hotels had tripled their rates during the queen's memorial (my reason for visiting) I appreciated that this property was fairly priced and so accommodating to me as a single traveler last minute. Cheers!

The breakfast was good. The location was good. We were there for a wedding. Everything went very well. All the staff worked very hard to achieve this. The food was excellent at the wedding. The bathroom was good.

The 'wardrobes' in the room. They were too narrow to hang clothes properly.. Our room was up a small set of stars. One of the steps was a bit sunken. I nearly slipped, I should of reported to reception.
