Royal Glen Hotel

Very friendly and efficient staff. Excellent breakfast and wonderful service. Great location to explore the town as only a short walk to the beach. Room was very clean and daily housekeeping very good.

The only negative was that the room we had was a little tired and could have done with a new carpet and a bit of redecorating. Everything was very clean and tidy with an excellent shower and facilities. The mattress was a bit hard for our personnel preference.

Availability of a single room. A handsome building of great character, very traditional. A friendly welcome, lovely little heated pool with clean towels, changing room and shower, good breakfast with a range of juices and hot and cold menu options. Plentiful hot water. The location was quiet, and I got the last space in the car park.

It was unseasonably warm for October, but I couldn't open the bedroom window as it was next to the kitchen extractor vent which fired up at 6.30am. The bed was softer than I am used to. The walk from the seafront to the hotel goes along a section of wooded path with no lighting. Not the hotel's problem but a bit off-putting to a woman walking alone after dark.

Very convenient for the wedding we attended. Breakfast was brilliant and plenty of choice. Not to far from the beach . 2 minute brisk walk very quiet at night so slept well good sized room

The wardrobe walk in cupboard area was very smelly so we could not put our clothes in it. It would have made out clothes really smelly. It needs a good airing and maybe take the door off so air can get in . It was very bad stayed in room 18 . Toilet roll very cheap so ran out very quickly . 3 of us in the room and two were ladies . Asked twice for more . Not enough car parking very tight spaces. Electric kettle cable was a bit dodgy. !!!

The hotel was well located within easy walking distance to the beach and town. Parking was sometimes tricky with limited available spaces. The hotel was clean and comfortable with good facilities all round.

The evening meal was a great disappointment. The same menu for our 10 day stay. One evening I had a tempura prawn salad starter upgraded to a main meal at the cost of £20. I received 5 prawns and when I queried this the waiter said it was difficult to know how many prawns people liked!!!! I received an additional 3.

We really enjoyed our stay apart from the comfort aspect as the mattress in our room was very uncomfortable despite having a topper. This meant that my husband who has back problems had to sleep on the sofa but neither of us had much sleep. We have stayed with you a number of times but are wondering if we can come back as the beds all seem to be of poor quality and sleep is so important.

Parking can be difficult as my husband needs a disabled space but the staff were very helpful over this and provided a parking cone.

A beautiful quirky hotel.Amazing staff especially thr reception team and more importantly Lilly who we believe is an asset to the royal glen.We had a beautiful comfortable room.The breakfast was lovely and staff are friendly attentive and approachable. Please dont believe some of the reviews we are already looking to book again soon.Thankyou so much guys for making our weekend so enjoyable x

Just being picky but the pool was a little cool and the changing room a little small and worn out.

Location was excellent. Staff where really friendly and helpful.bar and lounge area was lovely. Free parking .nice feel to the hotel warm and lovelyl furnishings.

Room 22 next to the laundry room noisy at night . Pillows not very giving. Breakfast long waits and the avocado choice with boils eggs was a bit weird . .shower wasn't very good. Disappointed swimming pool was shut. Felt reception area could do with a bit more vavooom. Afternoon tea recommened.

I arrived at the upper car park, not realising one should have gone down the metal stairs to go into the front door, so entered the wrong door and felt like Alice in Wonderland, passing lots of numbered bedroom doors, having found my way down various staircases, eventually saw a sign for The Reception! Some form of notice indicating the way to the correct front entrance, would have been helpful!

The room was comfortable. It was refreshing to have a good sized wardrobe for clothes. Breakfast choices were very good and staff were accommodating on modifying the set menus.

The car park is very tight especially for larger family vehicles. If you went out during the day and came back late afternoon the chance of find a space was limited and we had to pay to use a seafront car park for a couple of hours on our last day.

A beautiful old building and my superior room was spacious. There was a gorgeous sitting room on the first floor opposite my bedroom. The hotel is about 200 yards from the seafront and the sea can be seen from the sitting room and terrace.

The continental breakfast was in fact what I normally have for breakfast at home i.e. cereal, fresh fruit, fruit juice, yoghurt and toast. There was no cheese, ham or croissant, which I would expect from a continental breakfast.
