The Legacy Rose & Crown Hotel

Location on the river with lovely views from my window. Spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Little details like water in rooms, complimentary shampoos just a little more classy than similar places. Close enough to town to walk ( if you are fit)! Feels like a country inn but close to town. Compared to 10 other similar places we stayed, this is the only one I would recommend unreservedly, the only one I might deliberately choose to return to, and one I would consider taking staff to for a training event or teambuilding. Ample parking.

Very minor things: Breakfast and menus just a little pricy. Couldnt run a tab in the bar even though I was staying in the hotel ( I sat outside) . Breakfast may end a trifle early for late risers.

The view is beautiful - couldn't have asked for better. The room was comfortable, with everything we needed, just that with the weather being unusually cold for August, we could have done with the heating on. We had Sunday lunch at the hotel and the food was very good. Free parking and there was always a space available.

The door onto the patio was hard to get open. Would have benefited from the heating being available. The piped music was still playing even when no one was around. An electric car charger would be a good addition to the car park.

the staff were lovely. we arrived for a baby moon at 32 weeks pregnant and I’d asked for extra pillows for comfort and we were put in a larger disabled room which did allow some extra comfort and avoided stairs etc, we also got a lovely view. we used the restaurant the first night as I came down with a cold, which was lovely. we asked about getting meds and was helped out, reception were really friendly and kind to me. we ended up leaving the next morning and curing our trip in half as I was so sick and desperately just needed my own home and bed, so missed all of the things we had planned sadly, and wasted our babymoon but plan to return to redo the trip

Comfortable friendly fantastic location

Unfortunately the food wasn't very good. I understand that the hospitality industry is struggling, but I think the kitchen needs improvement.

The view from our hotel room. The fact we could walk into the garden and see the river from our bedroom was amazing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The eggs benedict were lovely, but the full English, the scramble eggs were full of oil, so go for poached eggs. Great location, very near the city centre but away enough to relax. We would totally visit again.

The bed for a 4* hotel should have been more comfortable but still able to sleep very well. The bath had a shower curtain, which isn't very hygienic. The hotel room needs a refresher in terms of painting etc.

Very pleasant, friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel. Food was very good. Location was just amazing. Short walk into the centre of town with lots of beautiful buildings to visit. Had a garden room with small patio which led down to a small river. Very relaxing and stunning views. Car park very handy.

I think the decor is a little tired and needs some tlc. Brown swirly carpets circa 1970 bit outdated and needs something more modern and brighter.

Room was excellent with good view over river and of Salisbury cathedral , Upper floor room, as requested, was supplied by hotel. Nice size room with excellent coffee Nespresso maker. bed was large and comfortable. Nice dark curtains to enable sleep in after travelling. Great. Staff friendly and helpful and excellent buffet breakfast.

In the bathroom I had trouble operating shower control to adjust heat levels. The toilet needed further cleaning under the rim when seat lifted. The extractor fan for the shower was not working and one spot light defective.

The location was great. A quiet area in easy walking distance of the town. It was in a nice setting on the banks of the river and was full of character

I’m being very picky to answer this question as there was nothing worth complaining about. The room was a little warm for our liking although the radiator was off. The rolling toaster was only properly set up for our first breakfast. On day 2 it burned the bread and the feeder tray had not been set up correctly. on the 3rd day the bread came out as soft and white as it went in. we had to feed it through 3 times. I said I had to be picky to find something to say for this section.

Beautiful hotel , our room 16 had it on doors that opened to the garden which was lovely sitting there in the evening with views of the garden River & cathedral, bed very comfortable, robes & slippers were provided in our room , plenty of tea & coffee in our room also very nice .

Been on the ground floor, at night I could hear people walking around upstairs & sounded very loud 😳, the lights in the bathroom were not very bright & one was broken, shower curtain had seen better days , carpets didn't look hovered ,

Nice enough room with great views my wife and I both enjoyed dinner there for two nights although we didn’t have any breakfast .we booked the Gondola which was very relaxing the hotel in itself has a really nice feel to it

The hotel had a wedding there which was fun but nobody seemed to know the protocol for paying guests I ask if I could get a drink at bar and sit in garden 2 staff members said no and reception said I don’t know finally a girl behind the bar said it was fine
