Bed comfy and room + ensuite, although very compact, had everything one needed including enough sockets for phone chargers etc. Cooked breakfast was very tasty and piping hot. Catered for my DF requirements too which was great with DF milk and margarine. Staff friendly and helpful even when we arrived right at the end of their advertised formal check in time.

Pillows could have done with being replaced. Of the 2 per person one was lumpy and hard and the other had no 'bounce' left in it so spoilt the overall effect and reduced sleep. Could have done with 'self service' for cereals, butter, toast toppings etc. as some missing from our table so had to ask for them and cereal allocation was 'portion controlled' as a result of being brought to the table (eg 1 weetbix, not 2)

Although we arrived late and well after the restaurant had taken final orders (an hour after), the owner very kindly produced the menu, allowed me to choose from several options and then provided a hot meal. That was exceedingly kind and most welcome - above and beyond what we would normally expect. Our room was warm, the bed was very comfortable, the shower hot and everything worked just fine. Breakfast was decent with enough choice, although overall I think a little more might be done for vegetarians/vegans, but I got by fine as a non-meat eater. Overall, a great find, close to the M6 yet with a rural feel being in a village and really lovely people running it and working in it.

Only stayed the one night but thoroughly enjoyed it.We had the sunday roast and it was a definite 10/10 from us,the portion was double what you seem to get elsewhere these days.Breakfast was just as good and just enough. The staff were also superb. The room was also very clean and if we were in the area again we wouldn't hesitate to stop again.Great value for money.

Minor really but we did only have the small double room as it was the last one available and the bed was a tad small so if we stayed again I'd hopefully try and get one the bigger rooms.

When I walked into the room, it was spotless! The bed was very comfortable and the linen was soft and luxurious. Dinner service was excellent with many options. I ate there two nights and both nights were delicious. The breakfast options were great. I had the option of grilled kippers, which did not disappoint. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. I would highly recommend the Brantwood.

There was a radio on downstairs, which strangely I could hear in my room. It cut off at around 10:30. I wasn't annoyed, just confused how it could reach my room from below.

As a parkrun enthusiast, I messaged the hotel before our arrival to ask whether it would be possible to have breakfast so I could leave for Whinlatter Forest at 08:00 and was kindly offered the option of a continental breakfast delivered to my room at 07:30. The man who greeted us was aware of my correspondence, checked my breakfast preferences as we checked in and everything was delivered precisely as promised on Saturday morning. One happy parkrun tourist! I even had time to parkrun and then return to the hotel for a coffee and a shower before checking out. The room was clean and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities and a well appointed en suite. My travel companion enjoyed his cooked breakfast and tells me there was plenty of choice. After checking out, we were able to walk across the fields to Dacre and back and leave our car in the car park. Throughout, the staff were available, friendly and chatty without being intrusive and we enjoyed our stay. We'd readily recommend this hotel to everyone and will no doubt return. Thanks for making us welcome.

Very close to the M6. A beautiful old 18th century building in a lovely village. The owner is delightful and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room had everything we needed and was spotless. If you hate chain hotels this is for you. A bit quirky and full of character. The little bar was buzzing with friendly locals which added to the atmosphere.

If we had one tiny gripe, I’d asked for no carrots and got carrots! Such a small gripe though and it didn’t matter. The food is good old fashioned great pub food plus extra specials. We had a delicious steak and a duck a l’orange.

The staff were amazing they gave such a personal touch to our stay. Richard was extremely helpful trying to find out where we could go to see local wildlife. The restaurant food was very tasty we wasn’t expecting to eat there every night as we wanted to try other places but there was so much we wanted to try we decided to eat there every night. On a weekend the parking can get a bit busy but still managed to find somewhere to park. I wouldn’t fault anything. From the room to the breakfast to the dinner and to the staff everything was just perfect for us. Also they put a special touch in the room with a birthday banner and beers. Would definitely recommend and will look at returning at some time in the future.

Traditionally charming small country house hotel in a peaceful village location only minutes from motorway where comfort and a consistent standard of hospitality are guaranteed . Owner and his staff always provide a genuinely warm welcome and without exception are friendly and helpful without being intrusive . The hotel has a relaxing atmosphere and lovely ambience in cosy well stocked bar area . There is an excellent choice of quality freshly prepared food served in the hotel restaurant and a superb freshly cooked to order hot breakfast along with selection of other options is available each morning . Ample car parking directly outside in the private grounds where there is a pleasant garden area with seating .

There is a narrow archway to drive through on entering grounds .

Rooms smelled clean and they were. Spotlesspt k

The to remote had no back on it and didn’t work although we were going out for the night to a.crhristmas dinner so I can cope with no telly. Bad point was toilet ran constant all night and I am a very light sleeper and was up every hour throughout the night. During the night it sounds louder. I tried to flush it a few times but it just l just came back. We stayed at reigney inn a few months ago and breakfast was superior to ours this morning.
