The hotel was very nicely done up, very comfortable, great facilities with free bike's you can borrow to cycle around the area. And, Castle Ashby is a beautiful area. Very helpful staff.

The hotel is way overpriced. At £188 per night, plus £25 for breakfast, its just not reasonable or based in any sense of reality in anyway. A similar hotel of this standard would be no more than £100 for a small double, and maybe £10 for a cooked breakfast. I booked it as a treat for a family gathering, and I expected a lot more for the price. So, I won't rebook again at these prices for sure. Plus one of our rooms had no power sockets, so you had to move the bed in order to each a power socket to plug in the kettle, and no mirror in the room if you wanted to dry your hair. And, outside of a few cookies, UHT Milk for your tea, and a few tea bags, there's nothing here that is worth £188 per night.

The buildings related to the hotel have been fantastically restored, built in 1594 it has an amazing historical look, also being a listed building adds to its authenticity. My room was a large double, and my bed was extremely comfortable, the duvet and pillows were perfect, the toiletries were good quality, and overall very good room facilities.

However my room was in a separate building, and not necessarily close to the facilities, there was no iron or ironing board in my room, and when i asked for one, i was told to come and get it myself, not quite the service you'd expect from a 4.5star hotel, the dinner menu is good but overpriced, the breakfast is not a buffet, and definitely not value for money.

we are regular visitors of the falcon but is the first time we have stayed. The facilities are far superior than most and it’s in the most beautiful setting. The spread put on last night was a lovely touch and was very tasty. Everything feels expensive and the service is too notch and personal.

My main issue was breakfast. Incomes someone with 2 dogs and we just presumed this was an exception. Then another, and another and then another !! It felt like we were eating in a kennels and one of the dogs even did a poo on the floor in the restaurant! I couldn’t believe it!! surely there should be a policy for a section without dogs as you are eating food! we quickly got our things together and left.

We had a room upgrade from a Cosy Cottage Room to a Deluxe Hotel Bedroom which we very much appreciated and made our stay extra special. The room was clean, very comfortable and exceptional bathroom with great shower pressure. The view from the room was picturesque. The a la carte breakfast was very good as you could order more than one item from the list. The perk of this hotel is that as a guest you have exclusive access to the Castle Ashby estate even when it’s closed to external guests which is exceptional, you are essentially having a private visit of one of the most beautiful gardens, mini-zoos, and castles in the country. The service was polite and warm at dinner.

The service of food was very slow for lunch, dinner and breakfast, it took a long time to receive the food at each meal. The service for lunch could have been friendlier, the greeting was cold and we weren’t made to feel welcome which after having just checked in makes for a poor first impression of an establishement. The dinner food could be improved and ideally it would be great if the service could be sped up as it was very tiring.

Location - great, well restored historic site well out in the country. Electric car charging was good Bar menu was routine as we eat there more than once -specials perhaps? ...and perhaps a bit expensive (£50 a head with wine) Breakfast was very good and service at breakfast excellent.

Your ad said it was a small room and it really was! A bit difficult to sit down and work either in the room or in the public areas.

The room, the bed, the balcony, the view, an option of bath and shower, Breakfast in bed was an exceptional experience Loved the power shower with varying options to change the jet. Being able to sit outside on the balcony with a drink and still have that intimate time with my new husband was priceless. This was so idyllic.

The cooked breakfast wasn't spot on as certain foods didn't hav the flavour I expected, although my new husband polished off what I didn't eat. We weren't too keen on the toilet as we felt exposed to the room, and not much privacy in that area. Having to wait a lengthy time at reception, as there was only 1 member of staff and she was having to answer telephone calls too as well as face to face customers. There was no little shop for gifts or necessities for our stay.

The breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice & nicely presented. For us the hotel location was just right, not far from home, in a tiny village, part of a private estate & surrounded by countryside, but not that far from a big town if required.

We think that possibly the up market Eyas Restaurant ought to provide an alternative to the 6 course & rather expensive 'Taster Menu'. Possibly a 3 or 4 course dinner option thus giving diners a greater choice.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times now. I was attending a wedding in Birmingham, but chose to stay at The Falcon and commute as I love how clean the rooms and bathrooms are, in addition to how lovely the staff are.

My only gripe was the bed - I think it was a twin connected to form a double. Sometimes mattress toppers are laid over the join so you can’t feel them. This wasn’t the case in this room unfortunately, so I spent both nights sleeping on the edge of the bed. If this wasn’t the case, something uncomfortable made it very difficult to sleep in the middle.

The Hotel rooms were large, tastefully decorated and the bathrooms had large showers and a free-standing bath. There were tea and Nespresso making facilities, with fresh milk provided (and a fridge in the room). The staff team were uniformly helpful, cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. We were able to book for swimming in the magical lake which was unforgettable (and again the staff were helpful and encouraging). The dining experience was superb, with outstanding ingredients, and the restaurant managed to cope with our various dietary requirement with ease, even with the tasting menu. The surrounding area is beautiful with well marked walking routes and maps provided by the Hotel.

We stayed Saturday and Sunday night and had an outstanding dining experience on the Saturday night (tasting menu) and Sunday lunchtime. We did not want anything else to eat, but the tasting menu on consecutive nights would have been too much and I understand the restaurant is not open at the start of the week. The service is very attentive but not fast, and it is worth being aware of this.

I liked the fact the pictures of the property didn’t disappoint. Our rooms were as seen in the pictures and even more cosy than we expected. Having the joining door in between our rooms was also really nice. The property is also in a very nice area and felt like a home away from home. Breakfast was great and everyone was really nice and friendly. We definitely enjoyed our stay.
