The staff were super , always attentive but not intrusive The whole place was very very clean The breakfast was lovely thank you We were there to attend a funeral. The wake was at the hotel. The staff gave that an excellent service

I booked a double room. The booking confirmation said deluxe king room? We were more than happy with our double room. I cannot see on their website they even have a room described as a deluxe king room. We were happy but we all know some people may have expected a “treat” upgrade. This is just a comment,No way is it a criticism

We were in room 6, a beautifully appointed room in the original building overlooking West Street. As it was a late booking for a work related event I was not expecting much for the price I was paying but the service and quality of the locally sourced food were wonderful. As I had been reading about the quality of the local 'chalk stream' watercress I asked for some with my poached eggs and it arrived immediately. I would book again in a heartbeat. Great for a long weekend as the walks around this historic town are delightful. The hotel is 3 minutes from the heritage steam train attraction, The Watercress Line.

The Swan is being upgraded. The dining room, bar, our bedroom and a lovely snug / library have all been recently renovated to a high standard but they have yet to complete the corridors. Being an historic, landmark property the stairs are steep in places in the oldest part of the building and may not suit the less mobile. I was warned that those in the converted stables overlooking the carpark with sensitive ears might be disturbed by the night time chimes of the old church next door. I was in the front and heard nothing. We struggled with the wi fi.

We came as a family of which part were going to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. We were welcomed and given keys to our four rooms immediately. Two in the old part of the hotel and two in the modern block at the back. The rooms were full of character, charm, clean, quite spacious and had everything needed. We ate dinner one evening and the food was excellent. Special mention to the Bar Manager who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. He kept checking on us and arranged the lounge area so we could all sit together and chat. Always cheerful and attentive.

The Swan is a beautiful old building and the rooms were spacious, well furnished, amd c;lean. Our rooms overlooked the outside area of the bar, and it was a warm, mid-summer evening, creating a meximum potential for noise. The noise was indeed audible, but it was not distracting: the rooms were evidently sound-proofed. We liked the early check-in time. Officially it was 2 pm, which itself is unusually early, but in fact we were able to take possession at 1:30, which gave us plenty of time to change for the opera.

The breakfast was perfectly adequate, but not special in the non-carnivorous department. The full English and various egg dishes were fine, but there could have been more variety in, for example, dried fruit and bakery.

Gorgeous Georgian quaint and cosy. We were in the family room, which was perfect. Comfortable beds, lovely attention to detail. Super staff, such fast and friendly service; we never had to wait long for food in the lovely dining area. Dog friendly. Fab central location a few minutes from all the shops and, most importantly, the amazing steam railway! What a treat (a weekend break for Mummy and kids). We’ll be back.

Nothing. It we really loved it.

The room was very spacious and attractively designed, with wooden furnishings, and decent TV, easily viewable from anywhere in the room. The bed especially was very comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious, very clean, with hot shower, two basins and a range of complementary toiletries which smelled great: plenty of good quality, clean towels: there is also a large bath in the bedroom itself. The room, which looked out onto the back yard and patio was also quiet, and there was little disturbance from outside or from other guests. Extra tea and coffee sachets were quickly given to me when I asked for them. The full English breakfast I had was hot and with good quality bacon and sausages. The evening menu the hotel offers has a good variety of dishes: the food was served promptly by the staff, who were always attentive, and was delicious.

I think the hotel needs to review the storage space given to guests for putting away their clothes and other things they've brought with them. The size of the room meant that it could easily have accommodated a proper cupboard. Nothing I could have stowed underwear decently in, either. There was a chest, but that was full of the hotel's stuff: the only facilities provided were one drawer for storage and a rail with not enough coat hangers, and nothing for properly hanging trousers, suits, etc.

This is a very lively and yet elegant pub/hotel in the very centre of Alresford, and I highly recommend it. My room, like all other guest rooms, was in a separate block, and so I had a great night's sleep. Additionally, upon waking, I realised one of my two views was of the historic and beautiful parish church! The room truly exceeded expectations, and also had a marvellous, full-length, and deep bath. Free parking was also available on site, and much appreciated. After arrival, I enjoyed a pint of ale from a local brewery in one of the many indoor snugs. Plus, there were a number of other heated and covered outdoor areas for relaxing. The Eggs Benedict for breakfast were excellent, and set me up for the day.

We stayed in the family room with one king bed and a bunk bed. My son and I (2) shared the king bed and my partner had one of the bunks and he said it was very comfortable! He is a large 6 footer too! Plenty of space. The room was spotless and was very large so it didn't feel like the 3 of us were cramped into a small space. The shower was great! Bathroom was lovely and big too and again, spotless. We arrived at about 6pm and my son wasn't for a sit down meal as we had had a long day so we asked if we could order food to our room and although it was a busy Saturday evening in the pub itself we were prioritised and our food was delivered to our room (unexpected - we would have collected) The food was fabulous. I had the pie and my partner had cod and chips and both were delicious. We were also able to order from the bar and take drinks to our room which was great as our son flaked out at about 7! So after our dinner we (all 3) chilled out in the king bed and watched a film with plenty of space for all of us. Breakfast was really lovely. Up there with one of the best eggs Benedict I have had. They catered to my son without fuss when I asked for a breakfast for him that wasn't on the menu. We were also allowed to dine outside of the room specific for guests breakfast as the other side had booth style tables which enabled us to keep our son seated without fuss. Staff were very friendly too and check in and out was super quick and fuss free.

There really isn't anything bad I can say about the Swan.

The room was very comfortable and cosy, and the bathroom, a good size.

It’s not so much that I didn’t like the breakfast; more the case that the breakfasts could be improved. The toast was under done. The fried breakfast was a bit overcooked and not very well presented. However, on the plus side, there was a lot of it, in fact, if anything a bit too much. I’d love to see the breakfast improved, however it wouldn’t stop me staying there again.

Lovely bathroom, toiletries provided, room was warm and snug and spacious! Loved the wooden furniture and decor. Breakfast was great - eggs on offer, not just full English. Great location for the high street and Watercress line too. I ate dinner in the pub too which was efficient, friendly, great decor, lots of choice and yummy food. Would very happily stay again!
