This is a lovely friendly welcoming family run pub. It is in a tiny village where I was made to feel very welcome and whilst I was looked after very well, I was also left alone to enjoy my stay. All staff were super helpful, the food I had here was very nice and very good quality and the pub has a very nice atmosphere. There was everything you would need in the room short of your Toothbrush! The shower was nice and hot and powerful and plenty of towel were supplied. There was a kettle, coffee, biscuits etc Most people I spoke to local to the surrounding areas seemed to know of the pub and everyone commented on the food being good there. I would stay here again and would recommend to others.

I didn't have the best nights sleep, but I don't think you ever do when not in your own bed. The bed was a little hard for me, but the pillows were comfortable.

This was our second visit having been before as a break in our journey to Scotland. It didn't disappoint with a lovely clean and airy room just off the garden at the back of the property. The staff and locals were great to talk to and made us feel welcome straight from the off. We seemed to be laughing and putting the world to rights from the outset which is how it should be when you stay at an inn. They handled the Covid restrictions with aplomb.

The bed was very firm I'm afraid and did cause my arms to go to sleep if I lay on either side. Other than that we had no complaints at all and would go back again in the future.

I didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that, but my supper was very good! As I was checking in late, they were kind enough to ring me before I arrived to ask if I’d like dinner. When I arrived (even later than planned!) they had a table ready for me and supper was produced soon after.

A spare blanket might have been nice.

The Blacksmith Arms is set in the quiet village of Talkin and within easy reach of Talkin Tarn Country Park. which has beautiful walks. The Blacksmith Arms is a traditional pub with good ale , splendid food and a roaring fire. The room is cosy and the their is a traditional Cumberland breakfast. Perfect stay.

Polite and friendly staff, good food and wine. Breakfast was perfect, with strong rich coffee. Bed was remarkably comfortable. Excellent value for money.

Decor was a little dated. Shower cubicle was small for a six footer. Can't find fault beyond these minor issues

This was a return visit after many years. I liked the friendly welcome, the excellent choices on the dinner menu, the cozy atmosphere and the superb beer.. The Garden Room was spacious and well equipped. All in all it was a most enjoyable stay.

At the moment I can't think of anything that could have been better.

It would be helpful if a clearer vegetarian breakfast option was available. I understand that it was, but it wasn't actually on the menu. The food I had (poached eggs) at breakfast was very nice, as was the evening meal. Staff were all outstanding!
