We had the Vindolanda apartment. There were three of us. The apartment was great and would be great for a family. We had bikes that were locked in a small outdoor area at the side of the hotel. We ate both nights in the hotel and the food was good. Good range of beer on offer. Lovely breakfast. Helpful staff. Very convenient for cycling Hadrian's Cycleway.

We couldn't get the TV to work. We should have been told that we had to switch on the hot water when we were shown to the room. Not sure what the courtesy bus is for as we asked twice about perhaps using it and couldn't find out what we could use it for.

Good central location in the small town of Haltwhistle. Great staff who went out of their way to ensure we were catered for and could reach the hotel easily as a result of poor taxi service. Good food for evening meal and breakfast.

Small mix up with settling the bill. I hadn’t been given any breakdown of the costs, was overcharged for the room but the bar bill hadn’t been added so was unaware that I hadn’t paid all that was due! Was sorted out by a phone call from the hotel a few hours after we’d left; so would have been helpful if we’d had more transparency when settling up. Also, staff seemed rather rushed off their feet during breakfast period, resulting getting food rather late and having to amend taxi pick up

it's a good location at the very center of Britain. I had no car, walking, and I walked up to Hadrians Wall via the Haltwhistle Burn footpath, which is lovely, and also took the AD122 bus which stops across the street to explore Hadrians Wall a bit more. it's an old inn, doorways are low but room is modern and comfortable. Haltwhistle has a history (I learned at the library) of a lot of border raids and fighting and the people are still kind of tough, with very thick accents of what sounds almost like Irish but I doubt they would appreciate that comparison :). very interesting place, a good stop if you are a walker and want to see Hadrian's Wall. a lot of sheep in the vicinity, very interesting.

I liked it fine. no issues.

Central location, very friendly staff and a very good breakfast. Room and the ensuite were a good size and with good facilities T/C toiletries etc

We arrived just minutes too late to get a meal from the restaurant. Some other residents were still eating as we arrived. The bar staff gave us details of the location of takeaways and other restaurants but these didn't work for us. We finished up with shop bought sandwiches. That said it was a Tuesday night in mid Feb so I understand why things may not be open until late and it wasn't enough to stop us using the Manor House again. Perhaps with a little more thought we could have been able to pre book a simple meal

We were walking Hadrians Wall with friends and met them at Haltwistle - we all; stayed at The Manor House. The owner and staff go the extra mile to make you welcome and even have a FREE shuttle bus to take you back to the wall to continue your walk(Haltwistle is a good 2 miles away and that is a long walk at the end of a 14-16 mile day). Very nice, clean bedrooms, crisp linens and big white towels - more like a good hotel than rooms in a pub so above expectation.

Nothing really - overall very happy.

Great hotel, lovely breakfast with very friendly staff. Clean room and food in hotel was great. We booked a table both evenings and the food was fab. Great location and plenty to do in the area. We used as a base to walk a small part of Hadrian's Wall. All staff were friendly and helpful. One member of staff in particular was exceptional, we didn't get her name but she had long blonde hair and we believe she was the manager. She was there from morning to night and nothing was too much trouble.

The room was a little on the small side but was comfortable and clean. We were also right at the top so had to negotiate the stairs with our bags. Fine for us, but some may have struggled up there.

I like Haltwhistle and it is a lovely old pub. Room comfortable and quiet. Staff very pleasant but could have done with help up the stairs. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast. They pride themselves on their cooking. Room smallish but adequately equipped.

Parking was not available as promised and o don’t think ever available because of courtesy bus parking . Beer garden did not seem available for drinking.

The room was great. It appears to have been recently renovated and it was quite nice. My favorite thing, however, was the breakfast. I had poached eggs, salmon, and avocado on an English muffin. It was a nice change after having a full English breakfast in most inns in England. There are also lots of restaurant options in the town. I ended up having dinner at Zaki, an Indian restaurant, and it was delicious.

This isn't really something that I didn't like... I just wish the hotel had been a bit closer to the Hadrian's Wall Path. For those who are walking the Hadrian's Wall Path, the inn is about 2.1 miles from the trail. The walk down to the hotel is relatively easy and it's almost entirely downhill. I chose to order a taxi to take me back to the trail in the morning and it worked out well.

The apartment was adorable, well-furnished and stocked. We stayed in family room one evening playing games, then watched the town come to life the next morning. Sainsbury's grocery a short scenic stroll away and laundry across the street. Pub staff very friendly despite being obviously busy. A great stay, and a short drive or long walk to Hadrian's Wall and related museums.

We couldn't stay longer.

The place was absolutely beautiful the staff were so kind and nothing was too much for them. Emma (staff) was very welcoming and attentive. The owner was also present during our meal on the evening and was also helpful and kind. The meal was incredible and also the breakfast on the morning was lovely we personally thanked the chef and she was very grateful. Our room was beautiful and perfect value for money and extremely clean (room 4). Would absolutely recommend a stay and we will definitely be going back in the future. The villiage itself is also lovely and everything seemed close by.

Truthfully there was absolutely nothing about stay at the Manor house we didn't like.
