Tucked away in a quiet corner of town, it felt like I was staying in a historical mansion. The decor only added to the charm of the place. It was as if every detail had been thoughtfully chosen to transport guests to a bygone era. I was pleasantly surprised to find a radio in our room was playing classical music. It was a small touch, but it made me feel even more relaxed and at home. We went to bar to unwind after a long day. I had the best daiquiri I've had in a long time in a restaurant. The bartender clearly knew his craft and made the drink to perfection. Last but certainly not least, breakfast at the hotel was very good and had many options to choose from. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique, luxurious, and m highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique, luxurious, and memorable experience.

Architecture and layout very original, lots of separate seating areas. Evening meal very good. Location ideal for exploring Dorset, free parking.

Breakfast was where it fell down. We had three days there. Each day it was as if a different chef was on duty, one day my wife just wanted beens on toast, two slices of bread and a thimble size pot arrived with a few beens in it. Another day my full English was swimming in oil. Fried eggs not only was yokes runny (no-one asked how we would like them) but the whites were not cooked though. All three days the same honey comb was put out, no honey in it and just a small piece of the comb left in the corner. All three days we had to ask for the orange jug to be topped up! The Breakfast let down a fine hotel.

The building was quite exceptional, we had a third floor room with views to the west and the south. Good sized room with good shower over the bath. Lots of young staff with a very positive attitude. We booked in early but this was no problem. The food was typical pub food and varied in quality, the steak pies were good together with the duck confit. Beer was good, but the wines were variable.

The service could be slow (we were there for four nights so saw quite a few different staff). Coffee at breakfast varied from OK to being seriously strong and too strong for me who drinks a flat white with an extra shot. Deserts were generally poor except for the ice creams, which were fine. There was a shortage in choice of both red and white wines. On the second evening we has to have our third choice red as they were out of stock of the others ( this was a Saturday and no replacements would appear until the following Thursday.) Not a good advertisement for a brewery-run pub.

This is our second stay this year and we loved it again . We chose a standard room this time and had a fabulous room on floor 2. There was a lovely view of Queen Mother Square from the window. The room was well equipped with tea/coffee making facilities . The bed was super comfy and the bathroom was lovely. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning . There was lots to choose from . We also dined both nights in the bar for dinner . The food was exceptional .

We treated ourselves to a cocktail with dinner one evening . We had no fault with the cocktails apart from the price. I thought £10 was crazy but hey we enjoyed them

Quirky, Unusual, but great Place, as is Poundbury itself. we stayed for 3 nights to explore the Dorset area and found the Duchess a great base. Rooms are good, breakfast and staff are excellent, very relaxed yet attentive, perfect. Poundbury is curious, but incredible in this modern world to get such build quality and sense of space.. The park down the road is amazing..

Some of the quirky old style features are actually quite odd for a new build, Bathrooms with no windows and sloping ceilings for example, but again this is part of the charm of Poundbury, I guess..

Breakfast was decent, although not a great choice on the buffet. Pastries, boxed cereals and sliced fruit & yoghurt. The cooked options were good. Room was very big and clean and the staff were really welcoming. Great location.

A problem at check in, when the hotel's own system didn't have our Booking.com reservation. It was resolved, fortunately, but it was a bit of a worry for a while. The bed was very squeaky and the air conditioning didn't work at all, so it was incredibly hot. Our room overlooked the square, so leaving the window open resulted in lots of noise in the early hours from some drunken youths.

This is a fabulous hotel which also has a wow factor, the decor is fabulous. The building inside and out is fitting for a Duchess. Rooms are big and have everything you would need, attention to detail in the room is great. The range of tea, coffee etc is wide and lovely. Little story booklets to read are a nice touch. Hotel also has a lift to all room floors, heaps of parking out front of hotel and a good size Waitrose across the car park. The area is quiet and quite unique with the new built heritage look buildings

It was a shame that after all the wonderful check in and wonderful room, we had a very bad experience at tea time. Our meal order was forgotten and by the time it was realised, it was a mad scramble to fix. Problem was in their haste to bring out meal it was cold. I hate sending food back, but did this time. From the moment we ordered the recommended Sunday roast. We were first informed that there was no cauliflower cheese, then no Yorkshire pudding so was surprised after all this the meal was still forgotten. Such a silly thing to let down a hotel.

First time that I walked in a room where classical music is played through a little radio, that was nice but not very economic. Well located, spacious free car parking. I loved the avocado toast for breakfast, it was sweet and salty. The room was clean every day as per the initial day, a spotless cleaning!

Unfortunately, the shaver socket did not work so we were unable to charge our electric toothbrushes. After the cleaning, the door has been left opened. We did not leave any valuable in there but just a note to be careful :) The service at the restaurant was really slow. There might have been a reduced number of staff, so you have to be patient and not too hungry.

Rarely eat breakfast. Shame there is not an option for room only. Didn't eat dinner as we are frequent customers and eating same meal each time become boring. Fully understand the need to limit choices for cost, so no complaints. The lady on check out was lovely. Very understanding and thanked for the feedback.

1) Rarely eat breakfast. Shame there is not an option for room only stay. 2) As frequent guest, we always ask for two chairs in room. I have commented on this point several times before. By providing a Edwardian period styled chair with the seat approx. 12 inches from the floor, stained with all-sorts and holed, really needs to be thought about. The other chair appeared to be a dinning chair with the base collapsed was like a commode.

The room was comfortable, coffee/tea etc, bed was excellent and everything very clean indeed. The staff were friendly and very helpful indeed and breakfast was more than required with a nice selection of both buffet and cocked breakfast. The bar at the end of the day was most appreciated with top class service. Also parking was so easy which is always a winner. Well done to the Duchess,

Difficult to forward any criticism really. My wife found it a little difficult to open the main front door - however it was windy for a few days. Perhaps a push button self opener for those not strong enough.
