Fabulous B&B, I might even go as far as to say my favourite ever! Castle House Farm is a beautiful old property dating back to the 17th century, located in a really pretty village and with a large garden, which our room overlooked. We had a huge room (The Rockingham Suite) - in fact, it was more like an apartment, with a large attic bedroom, private bathroom, a hallway with a dressing table and a library/snug with a big desk, easy chair and lots of books! Host Claire was lovely - attentive and friendly, and on hand to recommend places to eat. She also makes delicious scrambled egg, which I requested with my very nice full English breakfast! Breakfast was served at the time we'd asked for at a large table in a homely dining room with suitably old period furniture, and original stone-framed windows looking out on the garden. It felt more like we were guests in someone's home rather than paying customers, which was lovely; there was a good selection of cereals and a wonderful fresh fruit salad, and jam, marmalade etc (from Waitrose, and in real jars not the usual plastic portion pots!) for the toast you could make yourself in the toaster provided. The whole place was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped, tastefully homely whilst being quietly efficiently run. This is how it should be done!

The only thing that could possibly have improved our stay was to have a blind of some kind on the Velux skylight in our room as the moonlight was bright, and it was a little light in the morning, and the window was almost over the bed. Also perhaps a handhold on the wall and a rubber bathmat, as the bath was quite high to step out of the shower.

I booked the room last minute as I was unable to get a room in a local hotel, I'm so glad that I did ! Clair gave me a large bedroom on the top floor with it's own seating area and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. The breakfast was amazing and Clair was a great and attentive host. The B&B also has it's own off road parking and there's a pub less than 5 mins walk away. The house has so much character and history and If I'm in the area again and need a place to stay for a night or two then I'd definitely check availability rather than stay in a soulless budget hotel.

The British weather !

The bedroom and bathrooms are huge.. Comfortable beds with high class linen. Claw foot bath and separate shower cubicle with forceful power shower. Very large window to view lovely garden, lay in bed and enjoy the vista and hear the birds sing, how wonderful! Great host nothing is too much trouble. Good breakfast.

Nothing to do with the guest house. This is a tip for others - make sure that the local pubs and restaurants are open before venturing out for an evening meals as open 7 days a week doesn't apply here. Very

Beautiful comfortable bedroom. Spacious suite of rooms. All extras were thought of - tea, coffee, fresh milk, toiletries, large TV, shelves of good reading material, large writing desk. Excellent breakfast, cooked and continental, served at a time to suit ourselves. Friendly helpful welcome.

We missed the house in the dark and fog. Claire phoned us to see if everything was OK and was able to guide us in from where we were (ie lost!). An illuminated sign visible from the road would be very beneficial.

The owners were friendly and welcoming. The property is an attractive characterful building. We stayed in the Rockingham Suite which is so spacious and provided every comfort we could want. The library of books in our own study area impressed us! My husband enjoyed his cooked breakfast and I was happy to find homemade preserves available. The location in the delightful village of Rockingham is ideal.

An extremely pleasant stay, on site secure parking, spotlessly clean everywhere, fabulous huge room ( the castle room) large bathroom with both shower, toilet, sink, and a freestanding huge bath. Breakfast with a huge range of options, served up in a beautiful dinning room, absolutely nothing to complain about and would book again with no hesitation. Oh and a cracking pub a stones throw away to get an evening meal.

Nothing, an absolute delight and gem.

Lovely place to stay near to Rutland Water. Good breakfast with very nice bread for toast and bowl of fresh fruit. Liked being able to get fresh milk for tea in our room.

The property is on a busy road but the double glazing was very effective..

Double aspect windows made the room exceptionally light & airy. Ample tea, coffee & biscuits provided in the room. Bed was large and very comfortable, felt luxurious. The simple touch of an after dinner chocolate on the towels made it a more personal experience. Breakfast was a full English and delicious. There was also fruit, yogurt, cereals and all the trimmings available to an excellent standard.

For a 17th century property it was perfect, so nothing to dislike.
