Wonderful Bowland stone building. Wonderful welcome from the receptionist and quality of staff. Room great and clean. Meals also same - eg homemade steak and local ale pie. Raspberry panna cotta lovely - ask for pouring cream. Parking excellent. Cost - exceeded reasonable. Set in delightful country setting with sheep inc Jacob's sheep local. Dog friendly - staff always offering water. Not far from motorway. Breakfast fine and dinner exceptional. Reccommended without reservation.

Horse pictures around fine but would have been better if by Stubbs. Bath thinnish plastic - better if steel - but this might be prohibitive for hotel at present to arrange. Pity live so far away as otherwise would visit monthly.

We live 3 miles away but attended a 70th birthday party and didn't want to drive. It was a lovely stay. Bed was super comfy, we could take our dog (don't agree with charging for dogs but there you go, they don't charge for babies), the garden was magnificent, the views were great. We loved it all. We even found a games room.

There was a staff person in the morning who was bit crabby with the young lad working so hard. He'd been there the night before so he must have been stressed but he was super polite to her grumbling. Just don't like hearing staff bitching when it's obvious they are all working hard. He didn't deserve it whatever it was and I felt it was unprofessional.

The breakfast was nice, but I ordered two poached eggs and only got one and asked for tin tomatoes and got two fresh tomatoes which I was fine with my husband, ordered bacon, mushrooms, sausage and hashbrowns, but he didn’t receive the hashbrowns which was quite disappointing but overall the breakfast was nice And we received two lots of toast which was lovely. The coffee was nice too.

The rooms was quite dusty, especially underneath the dressing tables. Also, the showerhead was full of black mould so overall just need a good clean and dusting in the rooms. The bed was very comfy and the pillows were lovely fluffy and light. Apart from a few missing items at breakfast and the receptionist asking for the £25 extra for early checking which we had already paid on arrival, the matter was soon resolved. As we showed proof we had already paid the £25. We had a lovely stay and I would recommend and come and stay again at this hotel.

Friendly staff. Lovely warm room. Good quality bedding & towels. Great facilities in room. Bar was very friendly and food was delicious. For what we paid it was great value for money.

Cleaning could have been better. There was a HUGE cobweb in our room that must have been there for months. The paintwork on doors was grubby, just needed cleaning. Black mould behind toilet and round bath, again just needed spraying. In our friends room the seal on the bottom of shower door had come off and it was laid on side, she nearly flooded bathroom. Having said this I would stay here again.

The room was a little tired and in need of some redecoration but met our needs overall. The breakfast was excellent and service throughout our stay was super! We were not dining in the restaurant but wanted a drink before leaving to go for our meal and the bar area was full so we had to go the games room which was fine but if the music had been playing in there as well as in the bar area, the ambiance would have been much warmer.

The wi-fi signal leaves a little to be desired and as you're out in the countryside, this would be a real bonus if it was efficient.

Beautiful location with some stunning views of Ribble Valley. 10-15 min drive away from the town centre which made you feel like you were away on holiday! Staff were really helpful, attentive and friendly. We felt comfortable/relaxed and not out of place. Pub downstairs has a cosy vibe! Clean room. Loved the table service breakfast (which was delicious), and dinner was excellent!

Our shower pressure wasn't the best, pillows were a bit flat but we only stayed 2 nights and out for most of the day due to a wedding!

The hotel staff were awesome, the music was sensational, the food was superb, the location was exceptional. Absolute perfection all around. They even allow dogs. We didn't have one, but it was nice to see people with pets in front of real fires. A must visit area for walking. Definitely highly recommended.

The Tolkien Walk was not easy to follow in places as only half of it (the final half) was well signed. Although we did manage to get to a midway point before others who were originally way ahead of us. 🤔🤷‍♂️😁

Lovely location, walks from the door including down to and along beautiful sections of River Ribble. Lovely pub, nicely decorated and oldy worldly.

Room 18 lovely EXCEPT; you really need to put in a shelf or 2 to put wash bags, make up bags et cetera on. Could go on the right of the sink? You need hook(s) on the back of the bathroom door. You need large shower caddy to hold each person’s bottles of shampoo et cetera. It doesn’t have to be expensive, just one of those ones you hang over the glass door. It’s a pain not having these things. Poor design having one side open with no glass door in a shower this size, with a powerful rainwater shower, water just ends up all over the floor. Very good job bathmat provided!

The Hotel was as I expected. I particularly liked the room I was in, having access to go straight outdoors with my dog and not having to go through the hotel was a bonus. Loved the gardens. The location I’d definitely recommend it to dog owners. Very comfortable, staff very helpful and loved dogs.

Having some facility to be able to keep dog food somewhere cool, perhaps a small fridge which could me available on request. I dog poop bin in the car park would be good. Don’t like communal dog water bowls, they can harbour infections from dog to dog. Otherwise it was a lovely place to stay.

Fantastic location in a beautiful part of rural Lancashire, right amongst the Tolkien Trail - a great set up, beautiful outside spaces and great quality food. Bit of a mix up on arrival with our rooms, but the check in guy got us a complimentary drink and directed us to the gardens - all good. Room was terrific, service was attentive - Must mention how good the local Bowland beers are.

The only downside was that the outside tables were not clean enough for us, needed a good wash down, with empty glasses/plates taken away a bit quicker. The tables inside could have done with a dust down too.
