Attractive, great location, well blended mix of historic and modern, excellent menu, very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable bed, very easy to reach Lyme Regis by bus, good parking facilities

Lack of space between end of bed and wall mounted tv / wall meant you couldn’t just walk across the room / get to the bathroom without leaning over the bed a bit. The cleaners weren’t very good at being low key when prepping, talking loudly when next to the breakfast room and carrying buckets of water; laundry bags; equipment right by us while we were eating. It was better on the Saturday as only one of them was there so no calling out/ loud talking!

located in the middle of Axminster. The hotel didn't serve food on a sunday evening but recommended an Italian restaurant which was just 5 minutes walk away. Our room had a large comfy bed, wardrobe, nbedside tables and a dresser. tea and coffee making equipment in he room . ensuite bathroom had a large shower, loo and basin. all the bedding and towels were super clean. We also had a fan in the room which we were very happy about as we stayed during the hot weather and the room didn't have air con. Breakfast was superb. Pub owned by two brothers who were great. would definitely stay again.

Very lovely spacious room. Clean and tidy. Very helpful manager Kathryn who assisted us on check-in. Storage for bikes was arranged. Evening meal was good quality "pub food"

We ordered our 6 breakfasts & only 5 arrived. The waitress made no apologies or gave no explanation. I had to go in the kitchen to find her after 15 minutes, to ask what was happening? The chef explained that he had read the order incorrectly. He was a bit rude. We weren't in a hurry, but a simple explanation of the reason for the delay would have diffused our frustration. They appeared under staffed both in the evening and at breakfast.

The Hotel was extremely clean, fresh decor and comfortable. Friendly staff and very good quality cooked breakfast also with a choice of cereal and orange juice and we got fresh cafetiere coffee. The location is very good for visiting Lyme Regis and also well placed for other nice places in the area. Axminster is small but has a few places to eat.

We stayed on a Sunday night so there was no food available which was a shame because the restaurant at the hotel seemed like a nice place to spend the evening. We did get a message from the hotel to warn us there would be no food and they gave us a helpful list of all the local places we could get food which was very nice of them.

Upon my arrival I was greeted by friendly staff, who advised me of everything I needed to know and adhere to. The food was great, the bar itself is/was well stocked and catered for all ages. The room that I stayed in (106) what can I say, absolutely perfect, clean and today with everything you'd expect. I certainly recommend the George Hotel in Axminster to everyone. Well done the George Hotel, keep it up, I'll definitely be back again. Kind regards Daniel

Lovely inn, lots of character but clearly recently renovated. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We had a complimentary upgrade from a small double and the rooms were large, one with a big walk in shower and one with a bath/shower. No scrimping on the tea/coffee in the rooms, the beds were comfortable with lovely duvets and pillows and they were very clean and well looked after. The evening meal we had in the bar was huge, we couldnt eat it all, and our breakfast the following morning set us up well for our drive back home. Genuinely nothing bad to say, a great place to stay for the cost, within 15 mins drive of Lyme Regis and easy to find.

The food here is very good. The staff are very friendly. Parking can be tight and sometimes if you’re back late you have to park across the road which you have to pay for!! The rooms have sloped floors as the place is a few hundred years old, an ex coaching house. Great history. This is the second time we have stayed there so would recommend.

Parking. However is it’s surrounded by roads in the centre of Axminster there’s nothing they can do about the space.

Welcoming friendly staff, very helpful. Good WiFi Early - late check in / out / wait in bar. Comfortable large room. Nice bed. Lots of storage. Great shower. Relatively quiet at night, given roadside location. Nice bar. Very nice hot breakfast until 9am w/day.

Android TV apps can't connect to hotel WiFi. Worked with 2.2ghz mobile WiFi though. Evening meal, too much salt in soup and gravy. Instant coffee breakfast shocker! Nothing that would stop me staying again though, minor.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Good selection of food available from the menu and a good selection of cereals/ juices to enjoy as well. Food is served promptly and is warm. The room itself is very comfortable and suited our needs very well.

There is hardly anything that I didn't like about the hotel and they are teeny tiny things. You get a good selection of tea's and coffee's in your room, however these are not replenished and there are no biscuits provided. (Terrible I know ;p). The only other issue I had was that the Wi-Fi signal kept dropping out in our room (We were on the top floor) but that's not the end of the world though.

We stayed at The George for two nights whilst visiting our Grandma for her birthday. The food was lovely, the location is excellent with multiple amenities nearby and the beach very close. The drinks selection is great and the breakfast was lovely! The staff were super friendly and treat you like one of the locals as soon as you walk in. We even had a group singalong on Saturday night! We had a lovely time and would definitely recommend.
