Hotel Schwarzsee0

The room had excellent view of Matterhorn and the lift for the Matterhorn glacier express was at accessible distance. The hotel is well located to different hiking trails around Matterhorn and caters good food and breakfast options (vegan included). The staff was courteous and friendly. We loved our stay here.

The hotel is only accessible via the Gondola as it is located at 2583 m , so you have to be perfect with your arrival time , be sure you arrive before 4 pm Zermatt time (last Gondola to Schwarzsee) else you have to hike (2.5 hrs) to reach this place.

The location can't be beat. You are right at the base of Matterhorn. So the view from bedroom, dinning room or basically every corner is wonderful with Matterhorn as backdrop. And it is unobstructed, you have the Matterhorn to yourself. The room is just basic though.

Staff should be more kind and have some basic service mind. They just come to do they job and want it to be finished as fast as possible, seem like that. No smile on their face, not a welcoming group of people. They are not rude, don't get me wrong but they are just there and their gesture stated that I am busy, don't bother me.

The staff really took care of us really well, from serving us food to moving luggage to finding a lost glove. They were super friendly too and that made Hotel Schwarszee feel like home for us :) The dinner and breakfast were amazing, with a good spread and quality of things. The view of the Matterhorn was also perfect. Even though the toilets were shared, they were very clean and well-equipped with soap and hot water.

Reaching the hotel requires taking the gondola, location may be a bit inaccessible. However it was definitely worth the effort given the views Quad room was a little small especially since we had luggages, but the double room was a good size.

Rooms basic but comfortable enough. Common areas including bar and breakfast area, ok, restaurant comfortable with fantastic view, especially at night around late twilight, down onto Zermatt. Dinner ok German style cooking, breakfast adequate, no complaints.

For the price the experience is all it could be I think. Cheapest wine about £40 a 750ml bottle, which is about the same in Zermatt proper too. Of course everything is expensive in Switzerland, but, wine seems disproportionately expensive , but, that's nothing to do with the Schwartzsee itself I guess. Italy side, €10 for a litre of house red/white seemed normal.

Amazing location, amazing dinners and great breakfasts. We had a fantastic time and the views are incomparable. A great escape. Staff was friendly and helpful

Be prepared for the evenings in the winter. You’re at the hotel with nowhere to go from like 5pm to 8 am. I didn’t see a ton of socializing between guest groups, but that may be the season—be ready to entertain yourself. (Great for couples or big groups?) Every Individual staff was very friendly but the process and organization sometimes seemed disorganized.

Perfect location. Easy to check in. The room is big and clean, even though it needs to be shared with 5 other people, luckily they are all great roommates, and the magnificent view of the snow-capped mountains from the window is simply unforgettable. Both breakfast and dinner exceeded expectations and were very satisfying.

Guests need to take the cable cars to get there.

When you open the door at the accommodation, you can see the Matterhorn right in front of you. Dinner and breakfast are soso delicious. I'm a photographer, so it was the best for taking pictures, and most of them came skiing, so you can ski down right out the door. The best!!! I'm traveling to 47 countries, and it was a place I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Very nice to come back! I got the same room as last year, with a perfect view of Matterhorn from the bed. Always smiling Eva in the reception made me feel welcome and I got my room even if I arrived three hours too early Dinner was great and also the breakfast Alredy ooking forward to my next visit

Cosy and comfortable small mountain hotel in beautiful surroundings. Tasty food and comfortable beds. Very friendly and helpful staff. We climbed the Matterhorn the next day. You have to be in really good shape to climb the summit starting the day from the hotel.

the view was to die for!!! the balcony gives you a “private” and close up view of the Matterhorn. unforgettable and not to be missed!

For the price paid, the room was pretty basic. The food provided was also pretty average. However, we already expected this from previous reviews.
