Hotel & Restaurant zum Beck

This property has a good location and Lucerne city is a 15 min car drive away. We got the Becky room and our room had a big balcony with a great view of the Alps. The room was very spacious and comfy. Breakfast at the restaurant met expectations and the serving staff was very polite and friendly. Free car parking with sufficient space was always available. Room cleanliness was overall good. Wifi was reliable and quite fast.

Few minor points that can be improved upon: (a) Shower area is too small (b) Bath towels and floor mats are sometimes not being changed even after placing them on the shower area as instructed (c) Safety locker was not available in room (d) Lady staff responsible for check-in / check-out can be more friendly. We were welcomed very warmly but after a few days we felt a little ignored.

What a hidden gem of a place just outside of Luzern. I wanted a place outside of the hustle and bustle of the city--we couldn't have chosen a better spot. My friends and I had six rooms, each with a unique and delightful decor. The beds were very comfortable; the bathrooms large and well appointed with toiletries, nice towels and even a washcloth. The location was just a five minute walk from the Stansstad train station which is an easy, scenic 19 minute train ride from the Luzern Bahnhof. Each room had complimentary bottled mineral water and two confections from the wonderful bakery downstairs. Yes. You read that right--the bakery downstairs! Perfect for grabbing a picnic lunch for a beautiful hike or boat ride in the area (I had a wonderful cheese and vegetable sandwich). Breakfast was a delicious ample spread (my friends raved about the coffee, for me it was the hot chocolate!) and the staff was so friendly and inviting from the start to the end of our two day stay. The town, situated on the lakeside, is nice and quiet but there's SO much to do in this area from visiting Luzern and all it has to offer, going up multiple mountains (I recommend the less touristy Stanserhorn in the nearby town of Stans--currently free with your Swiss Travel Pass), boat rides, and taking leisurely hikes through the countryside. There's also a small Volg market across the street. The property's pictures are very accurate. I like to visit the Luzern area in my trips to Switzerland. I have definitely found my new go to place to stay. The Hotel zum Beck has it all for quiet charm, location, and welcoming staff.

That my stay was too short.

The quirky decor. The friendly helpful staff. Excellent food with good choices. The wonderful coffee. The bottled water in our room every day (and the biscotti)

Not having a wardrobe where we could hang clothes. Although the chairs in the room and on the balcony suited the decor they were not very comfortable. This meant that apart from the bed there was nowhere to comfortably sit during the day. Floppy pillows

Very nice place. Pretty rooms. Nicely decorated. The breakfast is felicitous with home made products and fresh scrambled eggs. And the staff always helpful and friendly.

I wouldn’t say I didn’t like it but seen as how in a previous hotel they provided a dog bed and bowl for my dog but in this case nothing…not a big issue but I did notice it.

No lakeside view from the street-side hotel but go 50 yards around the corner and there it is. Good food and very friendly staff. Nothing to excite but a well kept hotel with all facilities at a very reasonable (Swiss) price . Easy walking distance to a station with quick travel to Lucerne or towards the mountains. Easy access to motorway.

I stayed there one night on my way to Engelberg and it was delightful: staff was very friendly, dinner was good, breakfast was excellent. The room was cosy, with very quirky decoration. Walking distance from the station and from the lake.

My room was hot when I arrived. They need to remember to close the shutters in the morning in the summer.

The hotel was a perfect overnight stop over on our camper van trip to Tuscany. Staff were welcoming and friendly, rooms were roomy and comfortable. A perfect location just off the A2 so no huge detour of our route south, upon arrival what struck us was how quiet and clean the whole area was. The restaurant food was really good with the icing on the cake being breakfast (included) which was amazing. Would not hesitate to stop here again on our next van holiday.

Nothing - everything was excellent.

Nice staff especially for dinner. Very comfortable room. A problem with a light was quickly fixed. Reasonable breakfast, there was enough choice.

The evening menu had no small meals. I was embarrassed at the amount of waste as I could only eat about half of each meal I ordered.

Great location, parking, good breakfast and very quiet. There is a restaurant attached to it which serves dinner, I didnt make use of it though.

The only thing I didn't enjoy were the super soft pillows. I had problems sleeping with them, they are not made for people who like to read in bed or are used to hard and firm ones.

The rooms are clean with fun themes decor. It was a good value for money (for Switzerland).

At the breakfast the information about the food and breakfast options were not shared by the staff. We have felt a bit ignored and coffee & omelette or eggs were offered at the end of our breakfast.
