Characterful and nicely renovated historical building. Friendly staff. Good location, walkable from railway station. Room was large and had a bath which was welcome. Very quiet and with a good breakfast.

No bottles of water or tea/coffee making facilities in room. Having stayed at many hotels I cannot understand why hotels cannot provide these basic provisions.

Let’s start with the history of the place. Almost 500 years it’s been operating as a hotel. I’d say that speaks for itself with that longevity. The location of the property couldn’t have been better. right in the center of Old Town. Only minutes walk from eateries and museums. 10 minute walk from the Train station makes it easy for transpiration. The room was great. The amenities were just right. Cute little bar located across from reception and the breakfast was a full on Buffy with nothing less than something for everyone. Lastly the Staff went out of there way to make sure you were happy with everything.

At this moment I found nothing that I didn’t like about the property.

Excellent breakfast. Spacious room. Good size desk. Very comprehensive folder of information on the desk about all the facilities and services offered by the hotel plus information about where to find things in Chur. Reading light high enough on the wall to be able to read in bed. Hotel is in easy walking distance from the railway station. Hotel allows you to leave your luggage in reception area if you arrive before checkin time.

Because the hotel is in multiple adjoining old buildings there are 3 steps up from the reception area to the area where the elevator is located. And oh dear was somebody on drugs when they chose the carpet for the stairs and foyer areas on the floors - very garish pattern and difficult to see where the edges of the stairs are.

We stayed for one night before catching the Bernina Express early the next morning. The hotel is bigger than I expected, but this was not a problem. It is located in the beautiful old town of Chur in a nice building, around ten minutes' walk from the railway station. Our room was a good size, clean, comfortable, and with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was absolutely sensational – there was a wide range of food, it was well organised, held in a large room with plenty of tables and started at 7am, which is useful for people who need to catch the Bernina Express at 8.30am.

On check in, when paying the tourist tax in euro I was charged a higher amount than if I had payed in francs. I stated that this was strange, because the Swiss franc and euro currency are pretty much equal in value. The member of staff at the hotel stated that the two currencies are not of approximately equal value. However, as of this writing the exchange rate of franc to euro is 1.03, which is very close to parity indeed and makes very little difference on a tourist tax of 5 CHF.

This hotel was ideal for us (travelling by train). Chur is an expensive town but we felt that this charming hotel represented good value for money. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was particularly good with a wide choice of items, including local cheese and meat. It was a particularly hot and humid night when we stayed and although there was no air conditioning in the room (tricky to fit in this building and location, I would think), a fan was provided.

A kettle and/or fridge would have been welcome but we have seldom found these in Europe. Some people would find the unique layout of the hotel a bit confusing, we found it charming but anyone with mobility issues should check on steps they would be likely to encounter.

A beautiful room in the Old Town, which is absolutely lovely. The room was spacious enough for my husband and I. We only stayed one night in Chur as we were catching the Bernina Express the next day. Only a few minutes walk from the station and quite central to shops, restaurants and transport. The reception staff were very helpful and recommeded a great restaurant for dinner. The hotel's breakfast was good and had lots of variety in the buffet to please everyone. (The first time I had seen Prosecco offered with breakfast! Haha!)

Nothing - it was perfect.

What a unique hotel, located in the heart of the historical section of Chur. The hotel is within easy walk to a range of restaurants, other food and beverage outlets and the various transport options. Sight seeing around the historic area Chur is an eyeopening adventure into the cities past and its architecture. The room was small but adequate and the staff very friendly. The potential of wine with breakfast was a first for us.

Only one lounge chair between two people was limiting, room permitting two comfortable chairs would benefit tired travellers.

Room 305 - large room and 2 single beds pushed together so lovely and comfy! Large shower cubicle in clean bathroom. Lovely views of Alps all round and nice view of a town street out the front window. Very well located. Walked easily from the station then lovely and helpful staff on arrival. English speaking. Really nice hotel.

No kettle in room to make drinks. Bathroom door pushes to so a little gap is left. I made sure hubby stayed at far end of room if I was in the bathroom. I would like a proper door with no gaps personally.

The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was great with good lighting and shower in a very large bath, the room very clean and quiet. There’s a lift, the breakfast was exceptional. The staff welcoming and smiley. The hotel is within walking distance from the station. A perfect stop before taking the Bernina Express.

For Switzerland the room price for four was reasonable, but for foreign travellers with a family, quite pricey. What makes up for it is the exceptional breakfast: very good quality produces, varied, fantastic bread & brioche and lovely coffee, jams, tasty cheeses, etc.

Very well located in the “old” town, quiet and a very easy walk from the station. Everything was as expected. Comfortable beds. Loved the open window. Great breakfast. Thanks for a lovely (short) stay. PS - my photo is the side street elevation not the main entrance.

The only criticism was our room was not accessible by lift and even though I booked months and months ago I find it strange that our room was so far “up” and away from reception etc. Is it because I book using booking.com? I hope not
