Budget Hotel Alexander

The room is very well equipped and the daily service is good as it should be for the price I think. Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. Very much liked the free city travel for the duration of my stay including 50% discounts on most of the musems, provided by the hotel.

Would have been great to have aircon, but I suppose Basel doesn't often reach 35C. The room has a machine for making coffee with capsules, but no indication of how to put water into it - and honestly why not just provide a kettle and tea bags instead of these over-packaged coffee-makers that produce waste.

I had a single room at Hotel Alexander for a few nights. Everything was very clean on arrival, and the bed was comfortable. The room got quite warm at night, so I had to sleep with the window open which meant you could hear a little street noise, but I think this is normal in central Europe. The staff were extremely friendly, and they were very welcoming of my little dog who stayed with me. Located near Messeplatz, it was super easy to get around town with all the trams nearby. Overall it was an easy and pleasant stay, I would certainly use Hotel Alexander again.

The room was clean, functional and suited our needs. The staff, when present, was super friendly. Also housekeeping was great, they stocked up the coffee pods and water bottles every day. The shower was great, too. The birds singing in the courtyard made you totally forget how centrally located the hotel actually is.

There is not that much room to put toileteries in the bathroom. At the moment they are renovating the facade of the building and for this reasons there is scaffolding and the windows are covered in plastic sheets. It might get noisy during workdays.

Excellent value for money given Switzerland prices. Small single room as booked but modern well designed. Excellent lighting. Power points. Electric shutters worked well for both day to reduce glare and black out over night Able to open window for ventilation. Noisy from trams but sound isolation fine with windows closed. Very comfy bed and pillows. Super clean. Good wifi. Location easy walk across river to main sites. Also trams every few minutes Also must mention that Reception was so helpful to me Highly recommend

I think we got one of the newer rooms - the bathroom was different from pictures (it felt very new and shiny). Was a water bottle and coffee capsules. Comfy bed. Towels, hair drier. No AC but fan was there. Clean and nice hotel room, we liked it.

we didn't manage the coffee machine to work.. :( maybe our mistake.But the restaurant next door was closed - so we could not get coffee in the morning. A shelf in the fridge was missing

Great location, good view and enough space for everyone. The staff were friendly and spoke many languages :)

The room hadn't been cleaned when we checked in but when we got back later in the evening it was done, we also checked in as early as possible so wasn't really an issue. Also the second keycard didn't work so I had to get the person (very friendly) at reception to let me in.

Great value, excellent facilities (shower, bedroom furniture, fridge in room). Warm welcome from reception and excellent restaurant next door. Very well connected to public transport. Spotlessly clean with good WiFi.

The rooms were very hot. There was a heatwave in Basel at the time but keeping the windows open at night was a problem and there was no air conditioning.

The location was good, about a 15 minute walk from the bridge to get to the center and a minute walk to the tram line 2 to the center. There was a mini fridge, tv, desk, coffee machine and the bed was very comfy.

There was nobody at the reception which would have been helpful to have more information about the city. I sent the property a message about my arrival time which was required since there was no full time reception. I booked the room one day in advance because I was arriving very early in the morning and wanted to check in right away and was hoping to ensure that my room would not be cancelled or that they would not let me into the room but in spite of this they were surprised that I was there before noon and at first wanted me to just leave my luggage at reception. Once they checked they made me wait a significant amount of time for the room to be ready. This was quite disappointing since I sent a clear message about it.

Hotel was very convenient for the Conference Centre and on very useful tram lines - easy access to the airport in 30 minutes. Room was immaculate, good sized well equipped bathroom and plentiful electric sockets. Domestic staff serviced the room daily and made it "good as new". Good breakfast.

Breakfeast is ok though there is not too many choicees, good enough. The location is good, near the exhibition area, easily to take tram to everwhere in the city, even to France and Germany.

The dinner included is just so so. There is no English menu and the food is really not good.
