Amaya Hills Kandy

it was ok experience. we didn’t stay that long in the hotel as all day we were outside breakfast was ok . for me missing some options like more cheese , mushrooms but I totally understand is not easy to accommodate everyone for breakfast view of the room is Amazing but unfortunately you can’t open the balcony door as monkey can come anytime and attack you so is not safe

Beautiful location

The views were stunning over the city. Staff were very welcoming and hospitable. The buffet spread was impressive especially at breakfast! Room was very comfortable. Staff kindly arranged a tuk tuk into the centre for us. We were only there 1 night but managed to enjoy the pool for a couple hours, although you can't order drinks poolside.

We had a good 1-night stay but were slightly disappointed, only because the hotel was one of the most expensive we booked in Sri Lanka and not sure it was quite value for money. The bathroom was very small and dated. In the evening the restaurant felt a bit cafeteria-like, very brightly lit and busy, and the few tables on the terrace had been reserved, including by visiting guests (totally fair enough but if we'd known we'd have tried to reserve one ourselves) It was a Saturday night so expect it would be quieter on other nights. Overall a good stay 😌

I don't give many 10/10 reviews but despite its age Amaya Hills Kandy blew us away at every step. The standout were the staff (shot out specifically to Rukman), highly attentive, professional, and friendly. They went to a lot of effort for a NYE celebration and despite some rather hilarious bloopers it's clear the guests all enjoyed it. The food was stellar, the views are mesmerising (recommend a mountain view suite), and the rooms very spacious. There's a reason guides consistently say this is still the best hotel in Kandy!

The curtains in the bedrooms were quite dated but a very minor flaw!

Everything and everyone at Amaya Hills was amazing. From the second I arrived at the reception till the day I was checking out. The property is a wonderful vintage style hotel. Clean rooms with wonderful views of the greens. Our rooms were take care of by Sarangeetha who’s a very kind person. The service you are provided at the hotel is exceptional managed by Aravinda and Thushara, you can ask them anything and they will make it happen. At the restaurant, the chef Lasantha is an amazing gentleman, tell him about your delights and he’ll cook them for you. Our waiter Rukmal is generously funny person. Special thanks to Mr. Hilmy, the front office manager who is taking care of all the details to make the customers satisfied. Will definitely return and highly recommended.

Clean, comfortable rooms with nice view on the garden. Staff was very friendly, we had booked for Breakfast & dinner but they were willing to change this to Breakfast & lunch instead. (to take away) Our two boys (teenagers) were happy that the hotel has a fitness area. Very nice pool. Good breakfast. Overlooking the city.

A bit further away from Kandy center. You certainly need a driver (approx 10-15' drive, more when it is very busy) In return however, the hotel is ocated on a hill so that you have a superb view on the city.

Everything: room, view, personal, dishes, location. It's a fabulous place! We arrived here right from Colombo airport, the trip was hard but worthy: we met sunrise in mountains, the views were spectacular, monkeys came to our balcony early at the morning. Hotel gives you the best accommodation in that region with ability to visit most of the sight seenings in about 2-3 hours of taxi ride range (there are a lot of drivers using PickMe App). No need to wake up at 3:00 a.m. like in Weligama, Mirissa, etc. Clean pool allows to relax after a day trip and get sunbath. Dishes were various, set menu for lunch is a master piece! Ala-card menu either. Staff were very friendly and helpful! Absolute recommend to stay, book mountains view rooms!

Lack of fresh and ripe fruits during meals. Later in small hotels of Nuwara Ellya and Ella fruits were more ripe. In case of possible future improvements: the hotel might add hookah to the bar menu. It would be wonderful to have some smoke on the bars tower viewing the sun set. Also you can add coconuts to menu, they grow almost everywere. We love it's juice and cocktails in its shell. Again, will recommend that place to everyone despite commentaries above :)

The location was great and had a stunning view on the city of kandy. The people were amazing and helpful. The food was quality and had the real Sri Lankan fusion. The room was clean good.

Would be great of we had few more varieties on the dinner buffet. The shower was also a bit less on height (was to my nose height 😅 being 5’ 11”) on the family suite upper deck.

The attitude and care of the staff from the time we arrived was exceeding expectations. Particularly Yohan and Ashini was of immense help and showed real professionalism. The rooms were great. Good view. The food was excellent and was of good taste. You find what you want.

The only downside was that we could not sit outside on the balcony as there were some monkeys running around. Better to be safe inside the room. It would be possible only after the nightfall but you miss the misty views.

Breakfast buffet was great value with a massive range of dishes including western and Sri Lankan there was something for everyone. Swimming pool was amazing, staff very friendly and very helpful, and extremely honest. I left my Apple Watch at the property and it was honestly handed to reception so I received that back. Very grateful for their services. Let us check out late too with no extra cost. Views also amazing
