256 Townhouse Rest

The location was great. 10 minute walk down the road and you are at the lake and temple of the Holy tooth, Buddha museum etc. 5 minutes walk around the lake and you are at the dance theatre. 10 minutes walk, the central market and bus stops. Townhouse rest is loving cared for by the most helpful, gentlest of men. Such a delight. He took me to the bus station, sat me on the bus and made sure the driver and conductor knew where to drop me off as it wasn't a straight forward journey. The breakfast are enormous. Beds, comfy. Shower hot. I would definitely use this place again.

We have been travelling for 5 months but this was definitely the kindest host and the biggest room we've had. We even had to ask for LESS breakfast haha. We will come back and stay here again! Needless to say we recommend this place :)

The owner is a true gentleman, rooms are spacious, location is good, breakfasts are enormous, WiFi is fast and hot water is always available. Highly recommend

First at all, the owner of this hotel was the friendliest person I have met in Sri Lanka :) he gave us tips for everything, helped us with choosing the right bus and the right place to Stay. He even draw a description for us how to get to the target :D Then I also added some pics of the hotel. It's old but he cleaned the room Very well you get a super hot shower with a good waterpressure. The AC is also working as it should be and the breakfast was also top notch :) So for that price you receive more than you should get at this price range :) Would totally go there again :)

Good stay for the price, good breakfast. Our room was really large, there was a ceiling fan and AC. It is conveniently located in the city on a main road however no road noise reached our room at all. Our host was lovely, for example he helped us get to the train station by catching the bus there with us and paid for our bus fair as we were struggling with our bags. We really wish we could pay him back for that, but it shows how kind he is.

The decor is a bit out dated but for the price it is what you expect. So wouldn't count this as too much of a negative.

Old fashion, but with a lot of flair. Who has to first go through a bakery and then climb a very old wooden staircase to get to their guest house? For backpackers, the townhouse is something of an insider tip, because for little money, close to all kinds of shops, tuktuks and the city, you feel safe and in good hands here. The rooms are very spacious and the high ceilings add to the feeling of space and freedom. The walls may tell stories of days in the past, but despite the townhouse is in the middle of the city, you will find an absolutely quiet oasis here, where you can relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. Everything you need is there, enough furniture, a super comfortable bed, a hot shower and fast internet. Pratab prepares a lovengly breakfast every morning and brings it to your room. He is always available, if you have any question or a request. And not only that. You can have really interesting conversations with him. His range of knowledge is enormous. The Tooth Temple and the lake are within walking distance. I really recommand this place. Thank you to Pratab for your very good service, friendlyness and support. Hope to see you again one time. - To begin with, I understand why there were so many positive reviews about the host because he was genuinely one of the most sweetest and nicest persons we have ever met. He was very endearing, approachable, attentive and accommodating. I think a host such as this completely changes any experience and we definitely had a positive stay. - rooms were big with own bathroom. Outdated but clean. - breakfast was better than most places we have stayed at. Was very nicely set up for us for the time we had requested. - bed was big and comfortable. - location was central, walking distance to Kandy lake and local restaurants. - location felt safe. - mini shop downstairs for any water or snacks. - positive stay, we booked for two nights and ended up staying 6 nights.

The cost of stay is very reasonable, the location is walking distance to the center, the room is spacious, bed and towel are clean, air conditioning, hot water showers, and wifi is fine. And you even get a free breakfast with lots of fruit and plenty of tea. The owner is really nice and always take care of people. When I asked how to get to the elephant orphanage, he drew me a map and politely explained where to get on and off the bus and even took me to the bus station! I would recommend this place to backpackers and students and all.

Lovely big spacious room in the middle of the town, the rooms are above a cafe so you walk through and up the stairs at the back. Our room was very big with good AC and a comfortable bed. The host is also extremely nice and helpful, he made sure to sort our transport to the train station when leaving and made sure we weren’t ripped off. Couldn’t recommend this place enough with the price it’s offered at, easily could be 3/4 times the amount.

Could do with a touch up (paint etc.)

Super helpful staff(you can get any information by him if you want),clean and wide room,good wifi,so cheap price,good location (beside main street from dambulla side),breakfast service, He may go together to your destination in the city if he have time.

I don't recommend such a person who don't need information from staff and like to spend time alone,wanna decide everything by myself. Everyone can't stop his hospitality!
