O Valentim

The automatic check-in is great! Comunicating with the staff was easy and quick. The room is fully equipped and very clean. We travelled by car so the location was convenient both to find a car parking nearby and to catch our early flight the day after (just 13 minutes from the airport). Moreover, the neighbourhood Matosinhos is famous for its excellent restaurants that grill fresh fish all day long, so staying at O Valemtin might be the right choice if you want to try really local food!

We actually stayed in two rooms due to a flight problem. The first night we were in a twin room. The checkn in process was all virtual and worked well. We were very happy with the room. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The second night we stayed in the suite. It was a bit beyond our budget honestly but we were happy with the hotel on night one and did not want to leave the area. It is a GREAT LOCATION ! Close to everything. We ate at two excellent restaurants. The second night we ate at VAGAS - directly on the beach. And WHAT A BEACH. The water was wonderful.... clear, refreshing. The hotel is in a walkable area to public transit to Porto etc... but we were content to just stay in the town. On the first day we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant - on the 3rd floor. it was simple but fine. A wonderful kind bonus was a welcome drink at their upstair terrace restaurant. We did take advantage of this and loved it. Lots of gulls around- a real seaside town. We loved it ! Quiet and clean- great location ! Kind staff.... all great.

Really was not much not to like.

Location, modern design, balcony, mini-fridge, and free welcome drink. Great people working in the top floor restaurant/bar/terrace. Double exterior doors provide good sound dampening. Super easy check-in and check-out.

Could be cleaner. Glassware and kettle were dirty, lots of marks on the walls, and mold in the shower. I've stayed in a few different rooms here, and all were hot (in winter), and smelled strongly of cleaning chemicals upon arrival. This prompted me to open the balcony doors (although, in the first floor room, one of the balcony doors was stuck shut). Adjusting the thermostat didn't seem to help the temperature.

Room very spacious and comfy, daily cleaning was a plus and the welcome drinks was more than welcome, we loved the terrace and the restaurant food was simply delish. The area full of restaurants, bars and bakeries was definitely a highlight but the short walk to the sea front and the activities that we were able to do in the surroundings was the best ever. Even though was on the limits of the city of Porto a quick 20 min ride on Uber would takes us to the main attractions, and Uber is very cheap in Portugal compared to Ireland.

Nothing to complain about the hotel itself, only thing that we dislike about the area was because its so close to the port and the fishing boats there were thousands of seagulls every morning screaming for food in the area that's the only bummer but again not the hotel's fault.

New, clean, spacious room, great rain shower, proper airconditioning, complementary drink in rooftop bar and Vermeer paintings (i come from the town where he lived). After first day on the Camino, this was a welcome treat to ourselves. Location is superb. Loads of restaurants in the street nearby.

Good room, price quality matches. Good transport links to the city center, lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Good communication with the hotel staff. Nice blinds on the windows.

It was stuffy in the room, but there is air conditioning, which needs time to cool the room. It was impossible to open the windows, because there is a restaurant nearby, the smell of food and cigarettes immediately gets into the room.

The staff were just lovely. The room was spotless but that toilet/shower/wardrobe combination was a trial because it is so small! It is reminiscent of a caravan set up. Nicely done but I think anyone larger than a small/medium build will really struggle! :D

The entrance is difficult to find and reception is on the first floor but you need a code before you check in....its kind of tricky

Nice, modern and quiet hotel, with several perks, including bar vouchers, which is a great idea and really nice. The location is really good, not vor the views, but for the amount of restaurants in the vicinity. I will definetley recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Porto. It's not that close to the city center mas is really easy to get to the hotel, and nothing better than at the end of a travelling or working day rest on a quiet place.

It was a comfortable room and the staff was very informative and friendly. The restaurant was convenient and the grilled fish was excellent! The staff was helpful with retrieving our delayed bag from the airport. Then they offered to keep our luggage during our Camino : ) We were very pleased with the services provided. We are looking forward to our return! Would highly recommend.

The hotel was really comfortabe. The owner Rui was most helpful. I couldnt complement the staff enough , Vera who was on reception was super helpul and friendly as was Marcio who worked in the roof top restaurant . We would love to stay again in O Valentim. The hotel is situated so near the excellent Metro for getting into Porto.

There isnt anything to dislike .
