Hotel Polonia

The hotel was in a wonderful location, five minutes walk from the main railway station and a steady fifteen minutes stroll from the main square in the Old Town. Right outside the front door there is a tram stop. Rooms are nice and spacious with air conditioning. A very good self service buffet for breakfast. Hotel is very clean and the staff are nice and friendly.

Our bedroom was located above the tram stop and the trams could be heard until late evening and again from about 6am onwards. This did not effect our sleep but friends who were with us found it a bit noisy for them.

The location, about 800 meters away from the Krakow train station (Krakow Glowny), next to a large shopping mall (Galeria Krakow), and the famous Planty Park which surrounds the old town. The hotel looks over a hundred years old and has very historical interior design, felt like between 1900-1930s design. The Breakfast is very tasteful and there were some variants of courses. During the first night, the noise from the tram came in through the window when opened. We asked the reception for changing to another room for better quietness, and the staff could arrange for us to another room facing the backyard. The new room is surprisingly much better and even has a balcony.

The noise from the street. The street of the hotel has som tram rails and the tram wagons make noise on the rail in the evening and early morning. The pillow in the bed is a little bit too soft and too big, my guess is that, it is a common dimension in Poland. Otherwise everything is perfect ! One more tip about the staff: I think it is very common that local people just give neutral expression on their face in Poland, neither very happy, nor very upset. Foreigners may misunderstand this and thought that some staff are not friendly. I saw many staff in other shops gave the similar "neutral facial expression". Please do not be afraid, just ask the local people and they mostly like to help but there are some language barriers.

Room was really big and very clean. Beds were very comfortable Bathroom a good layout and plenty of space, with a good shower Breakfast was lovely, with plenty of choice. Fabulous location. Lots of reviews complain about the noise from the Tram, although we were right opposite it and could hear it we were not disturbed by it

The room was too hot and on arrival asked for the air conditioning to be switched on. I was told no as the heating was on. We spent the first 4 nights not sleeping, which made us exhausted during the day. After the 4th night I spoke to reception again explaining this and the air con was finally switched on, we felt much more comfortable Could do with a shelf in the shower to put shower gel and shampoo on Pillows very big but not very firm Sometimes breakfast was very busy with not enough tables for all guests at the same time.

We were in Krakow only one night but wish we'd stayed longer. We picked this hotel because it was right across from the train station and very inexpensive so our expectations were minimal. The hotel is quite old historically but completely up to date in the rooms/bathroom. Room was very large, lovely rugs on wood floors, overlooked a quiet inside courtyard. Just across the street was the start of the ringed green space/park area with foot path that completely surrounds the Old Town area. A short walk and you're right in the center of things. A lovely old square, better than Warsaw. Despite a small bit of English, the staff was super friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage during our day trip to Auschwitz. Although we didn't have the breakfast, we could see the spread inside a lovely old world dining room and I'm sure it was great. It's almost like a museum of old world grandeur, clean, well-maintained and it even has a new lift. I'd say the best value you'll get in all of Krakow.

The hotel was in such an amazing location. Right across from a huge shopping centre. Short walk to town square. We walked everywhere, didn’t use a taxi once. There is plenty of trams. The train station is right across from the hotel which is great, as it’s far cheaper getting a train to the airport , thank taxi , the train was only 3.19 per person , each trip. The hotel was so beautiful and clean. The staff and so nice. They held our luggage when we landed as we got there a few hours earlier and the same when we checked out . They held the bags to it was time to get our flight that night. They are nice and friendly staff. There was a great selection for breakfast , my sister loved it. I am bit more picky eater but they had food to suit everyone. I love this hotel . I will definitely go back , EVEYONE BOOK!

Both breakfast and dinner were really good. Half-board service's second meal can be had anytime between 12:00-20:00. Good location, close to a huge shopping mall and public transport: buses, trams, trains. Kind staff. Nice room with plenty of space.

We paid for a room with half-board service, but there wasn't any option at dinner: We were expecting an A or B option, and choose whichever we prefer, but that wasn't the case, instead we were told what the 3-course menu was that day, and we got that. (It's possible though, that if we indicated that we wanted different meals, we could have got something else instead.) The hotel is on the corner of two busier roads with trams and buses. For us this wasn't a problem, but this has to be considered if you plan to stay here.

The hotel was delightful and had warm tones of old world decor, tapestries hung at the end of the halls, and the stairs were a feature in itself ( there is a lift as well). The room was ultra clean, and ours had a view across the green strip. Windows could be opened for fresh air- which was important for me. The mattress was a little firm (in comparison to other places) but good for my back. The bathroom was modern, consisting of a moveable (could be handheld) shower head and heating. There were tea and coffee making facilities - I asked and was given fresh milk from the kitchen. Bottled water was provided daily. The dining room offered a buffet breakfast in authentic Polish style, including fresh fruit and yoghurt. The hotel is situated 2 minutes' walk from the galleria shopping mall and 2 minutes from the old town. The food is exceptional, and we had quite a few meals there. I highly recommend this place and would stay again.

Beautiful, solid old building, it was like a setting for an old movie. The view of the busy square was charming. The location is great - a few minutes walk from the train station, on the edge of Old Town. 5 to 10 minute walk to train station, another 20 minutes to the airport via train. This was the perfect solution for me, coming in by train on Sunday mid-day, leaving by plane Monday mid-day. Much better than going to a boring modern hotel near the airport. By the way, I arrived early and was easily able to store my bags while I went to get lunch and a haircut nearby. Lots of food and other services nearby.

I didn’t mind - but others may - that the trolley line runs past the hotel. You will hear a lot of deep rumbling as they pass by. Personally I liked it, it was like the roar of the ocean, and I like watching the people at the trolley stop below.

It was my second stay at the Polonia hotel and as the first time, it was awesome. Clean and big rooms, great service. The food the the hotel's own restaurant was amazing. The was a brown-haired waitress on the most nights of my stay and she was unbelievably friendly and an amazing server! I left her a good tip (100%) on the last night because she was amazing.

The room was quite loud due to it being on the side that there is a city-train station, so if you are a light sleeper it is maybe not the best option for you. One of the 5 nights I was there I went to the hotel restaurant and there was a waiter and a blonde waitress. This waiter was not nice and I felt quiet unwelcome there (I am an alternative looking person) and I had to pay with card, since he did not want to take euros (the other nights it was not a problem)

This was a good hotel when we last stayed there in 2016, but now, with the addition of air conditioning, it's even better. Good size rooms with lovely high ceilings and plenty of power sockets. Staff helpful and friendly. Super breakfast. Very convenient :just a few minutes' walk from the station, in one direction, and from the old town in the other.

The only, minor, issue that I can think of is that they only supply one pillow per person by default. But this seems common in Poland, and, needless to say, they provided extra on request.
