Hilton Lake Taupo

we liked room 118 it was spacious and had once been luxurious. it had a lovey outdoor area out from the ranch slider with outdoor furniture looking onto to lovely plantings. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant and food was excellent and we would love to eat there again. We highly rate the restaurant. Great chef and service

We couldn’t understand the reception staff as they had really heavy accents. Language Training should be given if they are going to be front of house on the front desk for the convenience of the quest. The bedside lamp in the room didn’t go. The bathroom fan didn’t go. The fridge had no shelves to place food on and the air conditioning was very noisy as well as the plumbing. All sorts of water noises occurred during the night until the early hours until obviously people went to sleep

Great sized room with everything you could wish for supplied. Very quiet and lovely view of the Lake. The bed was sooo comfortable. We enjoyed a special dinner at Bistro Largo with friends and could not fault the food or the wonderful service.

We paid $25.00 PER NIGHT for the privilege of undercover parking convenient to our room. There was a free option further along which full of weeding guests cars when we checked in and it was also raining. Rather pricey on top of the room rate. Also our room was one of a very few that had no cover over the terraced area so we were unable to sit outside to admire the view due to the wet weather.

Our stay at Hilton Lake Taupo was an absolute delight. Accompanied by my wife and daughter, we were all captivated by the outstanding experience. The hotel's pristine environment, exceptional cleanliness, and outstanding service from the staff left us truly impressed. We must extend a special mention to Assistant Front Office Manager Swapnil Jagdale, whose exceptional service stood out, along with his dedicated team. Dining at the hotel was a culinary journey, with delectable food offerings that pleased our palates. This visit held special significance as we were celebrating our daughter's 7th birthday, and Hilton Lake Taupo made it a truly memorable occasion. Our daughter's favorite highlight was undoubtedly the heated swimming pool, where she had endless fun. We eagerly look forward to returning to this wonderful retreat in the near future.

My room in the older section (room 7) was excellent and being close to the restaurant & bar was definitely a bonus. Denisse upon my arrival was wonderful and kept checking in with me the entire 6 days to ensure i was comfortable. Of special note, Mele in the Bar area was exceptional. She was polite, efficient and importantly to us, engaged in conversation to make us feel welcome and like locals. ,I believe Mele was relatively new to your establishment but you should be very happy and proud to have her. I did note that her boss one night chastised her for engaging with us by showing us some pictures on her phone which related directly to some high profile guests staying with you that we had been chatting about the night before. She was again, engaging with us which made our stay all the more enjoyable and i thought the comments were not required or warranted.

To be fair, not too much. All was pretty good.

Nice, spacious, modern room, with excellent bathroom, comfortable bed and views across to the lake. Staff were very pleasant and we had an excellent steak at the restaurant. Very quiet and peaceful.

The architect forgot the building is in temperate NZ, not tropical South Pacific. Negotiating a steep, narrow path from the car park at the bottom of the hill on a cold, dark, rainy, windy night wasn't pleasant. Same comment applies to the outdoor covered walkways to get from reception to your room. The interior layout of the corridors mean you can't access your room from the stairs - you have to take the lift even for just one floor - and you need to walk through a what feels like a couple of cupboards to actually get to your room door. I've stayed in many hotels around the world - this one is one of the strangest in terms of layout that I've found.

The pool, spa, sauna and steam room were fabulous snd the old original building is lovely. The location is a little bit out of town but the view is lovely and it is nice and quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable with luxurious bed linens.

This property is classified as 5 star but there were a number of things including damage to walls in the room and lift areas and linen bags and cleaning trolleys being left around well after cleaning should have been finished that detracted from the “5 star” feeling. Also our room was not ready at 4pm and whilst we were given a different room instead it was on a lower floor.

Modern bathroom, underfloor heating an unexpected bonus. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet and private (at the back of the facility) The pool was fabulous, a warm 28 degrees in the afternoon. Towels were also provided. Happy hour drinks were a great price $8 beers and $12 cocktails (limited choice) , and we had the best steak I've ever tasted at the restaurant that night

The pool got cold overnight, so my early morning swim was short ,, maybe need to cover the pool to keep the heat in. The air conditioning was powerful, but a bit noisy for sleeping and I couldn't direct the fan away from our faces so we turned it off.

House keeping (servicing of the room was excellent). Everything was spotless !! Nespresso machine + capsules in the room was a nice surprise. Location of the hotel and its surroundings are great

Staff at breakfast. Some were fine, polite and welcoming. Others were not very professional; possibly downright unwelcoming. Our barista-made coffees turned out to be the wrong type. Also the price of $6.50 per cup is too steep. On the night we had dinner, the situation in the restaurant was rather chaotic. There was a function going on at the time (a group of BMW car enthusiasts). It became all very noisy and the waiting staff service were struggling a bit.

Staff were swift to organise the central heating which was not easy to find how to start it. The pool/spa/gym/sauna complex was under going refurbishment, so we couldn't use the outdoor pool or spa, but did make use of the excellent sauna, shared with another family. The Lake view is adequate, although not quite as extensive as their hilltop location suggests. Staff are helpful and friendly.

When busy (usually - we've stayed there a few times), the carpark is a significant walk uphill of around 120 metres. That can be a cold stroll on a winter night. Bags, however, can be dropped off in reception beforehand. A few more plates would be welcomed in the room.

Michaela was absolutely great when we had to change our bookings because of cyclone disruption.

We went to the Bistro restaurant at about 5.30pm to make a booking for dinner that night at about 7pm. We were told that if we didn't order by 6pm we could not be served. We elected to sit at the bar, have a drink and later ordered a burger (which was great). At 7.22 we were leaving and there were about 10 people in total in the Bistro, with a group of 19 out in a separate room. When I queried why we couldn't have dinner at a later time it was explained that they could not serve any more people. Why have a restaurant with 80% of its tables empty and not admit customers, yet they were capable of making burgers and supplying bar food to about 10 people in the bar?
