Aachen Place Motel

Everything was great. The room was spacious and light, and the kitchen was well-equipped and had heaps of bench space. It was so clean it was gleaming. The location was very convenient, parking was easy and the owners were extremely helpful.

The only issue was the wifi. It’s the first place we have stayed for years that still uses paper vouchers. Each voucher had a reasonable amount of data on it (12GB), but we were staying for 4 nights and although we asked for (and received) more vouchers halfway through, we were still quite limited in what we could do. We also had to enter the code several times a day to find out our balance, which was annoying. They unnecessarily gave us new towels every day.

The motel is a little dated in appearance but our room was clean and well enough equipped with a couple of chairs, a table, TV and comfy bed and plenty of room. It also had a small but functional kitchen and similar sized bathroom/toilet which included plenty of towels and the usual supplies. A bonus is that it is only a couple of hundred metres from the Rec Hotel where they have a very nice restaurant that does not have outrageous prices.

A common complaint that we have had in NZ is that almost all of the beds we have slept in have had a sheet and light weight quilt on them, but for us this was way too warm for a comfortable night's sleep, but a sheet alone was not warm enough. We were there in March and everywhere we went we slept with windows open where we could but the cooler outside air just never seemed to penetrate into the room. As I say, this is a complaint we had at every venue we stayed in from lodges to 4 star hotels.

Everything was fine. Nice and clean and smelt nice. Plenty of blankets and pillows and parking right outside of the door. Plenty of various options for a meal close by. Barry our host was very accommodating and even offered us biscuits out of his own pantry.

After a long day of traveling, it would have been perfect to sit and enjoy a cup of tea with a biscuit, but alas there wasn't any. However, Barry our host did offer us a packet of biscuits from his own pantry but we declined them. It was such a lovely gesture :)

Recently referbished standard NZ motel on main road out of Greymouth. Perfect for all our needs and very clean. I found mattress lumpy but hubby thought ok! We had the $15 continental breakfast which was plentiful and value for the price. It was delivered to out room night before so we could have when we wanted in morning. Good shower and everything you might need in the kitchen. Would recomend for a nights stop

Very modern and clean. Newly refurbished room - good quality fittings + comfortable furniture (2 armchairs were a bonus!) and bed . Kitchen well-equipped for short stays. Staff very welcoming - and helpful in solving our problem with TV settings. Easy walk to Buucleughs restaurant - I'd recommend booking if possible as it's a hotel restaurant + could be busy with guest bookings.

Proximity to main road meant traffic noise and light from street lamp disturbed our sleep. Better blackout curtains would help.

Easy to find on the main drag into Greymouth. Staff were friendly upon check in. Beds were comfortable and cozy. Bathroom nice & clean & spacious. Kitchenette was also clean and well equipped to our needs. We very much enjoyed our stay and would be happy to come back.

The room was small and didn't have alot of space to store bags but we made it work. Water pressure in the shower wasn't that great but better than the accommodation we stayed in the night before.

Location was ideal, Michelle at reception was lovely, room exceeded expectations. We were extremely impressed at how well the space has been used. My partner says that bed is the comfiest bed he's ever slept in!

There is no fan in the bathroom and we were hoping there was going to be an ironing board. No qualms though, you can just open the window in the bathroom, and the event wasn't extremely formal.

Great location quiet and peaceful. Close to all amenities. . Helpful staff, very accommodating when I asked for late checkout at the last minute. Had a 3 day stay and the room was serviced daily. Would highly recommend this motel and would definitely stay again.

First day struggled to get internet access at first, but was no problem after that.

Everything was great. No complaints about the room or service. The only comment would be that the traffic on the main road may affect very light sleepers

We had a really awesome room for 5 people: 2 bedrooms and a lounge/kitchen area. The kitchen has everything one may need — we cooked full dinner without any problem. The beds are really comfortable. Excellent bathroom full of towels with a large window in the ceiling so there is plenty of natural light throughout a day. The lounge area is very comfortable with two couches, TV, and A/C. New World is just 500m away.
