Bluestone On George

The apartment was well equipped, light, comfortable, modern and extremely clean. All provisions were refilled every day and the owners were extremely helpful. There was a dedicated outside seating area with views and a courtyard seating area as well as a designated, comfortable smoking area. There was a lounge for guests to have a drink and snack in the evening or just relax in comfortable sofas during the day. Parking on site available. It was a 10 min walk into the town centre and not far from the botanical gardens and a bus service outside. All in all we were very happy with our stay at Bluestone on George and would highly recommend. The staff and owners were helpful and cheerful.

It was a steep walk from the street to the building, easier going down!!!!

Neville and Sandra have built one of the nicest small hotels I’ve experienced. I travel in many countries and wish every hotel was as comfortable, clean, friendly, and welcoming as Bluestone on George. The property is just blocks from the center of town but as it is off the main road, it’s very quiet. The rooms are tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable with quality linens and plush beds. Our suite had a washer/dryer in unit, full kitchenette, beautiful jet spa tub, and king bed. Their hospitality is the crown jewel of the property and you are warmly welcomed from the moment you enter. It is truly a lovely experience.

Bluestone on George is such a wonderful hotel. My favourite stay in quite sometime. This motel has been around for 17 years and yet you could believe it was built yesterday. Every single thing is pristine. Not a mark or signs of wear on any furnishing or carpet. Beautiful bed coverings, amazing strong rain shower and deep jet spa bath, comfortable armchairs and a huge range of Foxtel channels if you fancy skimming the box. The room service was immaculately taken care of every day and the owners are so lovely and willing to help. A short walk into town made this stay easy and very pleasant. I would love to come and stay again if I ever find myself in Dunedin again.

Everything. It is a fantastic location, tucked back from the road and the noise of the city. Very spacious room with a large terrace out both sides where you can enjoy the views across the city. Great facilities with everything you might need. The bed was very comfortable, and there was something special about the pillows - they were lovely to sleep on. We loved that we were able to enjoy a drink in the sun on the terrace with friends who were visiting.

Not a big deal, but our door keys stopped working twice over our 2 night stay and had to be reset. We tried to be careful and not let them near anything magnetic as we were warned it might happen, but somehow we still managed it twice!

The place is tastfully designed and looks classy. Facilities available is amazing - there was a laptop available which allowed me to clear some urgent work, a luxurious spa bathtub, clean microwave, TV with cable and in-room laundry & dryer machine. Real comfortable and highly recommended. Hotel manager was very friendly and helpful as well. Beds also looked clean and inviting. There was also an elevator for our luggages. Location was great, within walking distance to a row of eateries.

I booked Bluestone on George as Fable, my normal Dunedin hotel, was booked out. I didn’t have any particular expectations, but I was wowed by how immaculately clean Bluestone is, with quality fittings. Fantastic location that’s an easy walk to Forsyth Barr stadium and an ideal spot for family visiting student children in North Dunedin. My 4th floor room had an incredible view and I like the way the property is set back from the road.

This is not a dislike - but given the proximity to the University you may hear the odd rowdy student in the small hours. But as Bluestone is set up off the road it’s not such an issue. I do hope the young man called Ollie did not climb on the nearby roof as his very intoxicated mate repeatedly yelled at him to do. Bluestone provides ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. This is not a dislike, but a FYI.

This hotel is owned and run by a lovely couple. The attention to detail in the rooms is incredible with every little detail well considered. This hotel is quite possibly the best accommodation we have ever stayed in and we have travelled the world over many years. There is not one thing we can fault. Beautiful double spa, heated floor in bathroom, washing machine, very comfortable bed and so so clean. We were so impressed we extended our stay. We would definitely stay again. Oh, and the price was excellent too! Thanks for such a lovely stay!!

Cannot fault anything!

Everything with my stay at Bluestone on George was perfect. The location is excellent, close to the university, easy walking distance to eateries and 24 hours convenience store. The service was friendly, efficient and great communication. Room is spacious, with a very nice view from the balcony. Good heating, including underfloor in the bathroom. Kithcnette has good coffee/tea facility and glassware. The minibar is well stocked. The room is very very clean.

If I have to pick on something - the cushions on the couch was a bit flat.

Exceptionally clean, fresh modern decor and comfortable furnishings. Most comfortable bed Ive ever slept in away from home. The attention to the different pillow types showed this establishment shows real attention to customer needs. The bath was simply luxurious. We stayed on the last weekend of uni orientation, and although there was a bit of noise in the neighborhood around the hotel, once we were in the room we heard nothing. We slept like babies. Would definitely stay again.

No complaints. We were very happy with everything. One suggestion we thought of was, as the bath is quite high, maybe wee a small footstep could be left under the vanity to be used by the vertically challenged (like myself)to step up into the shower/bathtub.

We had a comfortable loft room with good views over the city. It was a decent size with 2 comfy chairs and a small kitchenette which sufficed but no stove top for cooking (which we knew in advance so not a complaint). It was very clean and well looked after and stylishly modern. It's located near to restaurants in George Street and just a 10/15 minute walk from the city centre.

It is a bit pricey for what it is but I'd happily stay there again.
