A quirky hotel in a fab location, within a beautiful old town. The staff couldn’t be happier to help. The breakfast and indeed the restaurant was lovely. The room we had had a quirky layout and brilliant view over the adjacent tourist canal boat dock. We arrived on the 3rd Saturday of July, to find that there was a brilliantly entertaining wine festival in a nearby park, which was free to enter.
The car parking was a little confusing, as it’s sited slightly remote from the hotel, behind a security barrier, with an intercom that didn’t work.

Casual atmosphere of lounge is nice. We were allowed to store our bikes inside, which is good security. Breakfast is abundant and fairly priced; much better than jail food! Location is very convenient to downtown and seaside (lakeside).
Rooms on third floor (top) have reasonable ventilation with openable windows but the elevator area can get warm at peak of day.

I loved the staff there, they were so friendly, helpeful, I loved talking to them. I also loved the facilities, the pool table was great. The view from our room was very enjoyable.
The only thing I would have to say is the bed felt like it had dipped thanks to previous guests having used it. Other than that nothing bad.

Breakfast was wonderful. We came to Horne on bicycles so location was perfect for our next destination. We booked for one night only and extended for two more nights due to beauty of the city and low tourist time. Weather was perfect.

Fantastic location alongside the lake and walking distance to old city centre of Hoorn. Also, fun to say you stayed in a former prison! The staff was wonderful! We visited for Ironman 70.3 Westfriesland and as participants this is highly recommended location.
Rooms don't have fans and if you staying the lower cell block the windows don't capture the breeze very well.

Rooms MUCH smaller than advertised. Sloping roof meant uncomfortable stooping. Far too small for two people with large cases. No reception desk. No clear instructions how to check in. Breakfast was good but really expensive
