La Galuna Bacalar

Really nice hotel, super friendly and helpful staff! They also speak good English which is kind of helpful if you can’t speak Spanish very well. Only 15 minutes walk to the Center of bacalar with lots of good restaurants and cafes on the way. The rooms are stylish, clean and quite large. There is AC and a fridge in the room. We loved our balcony with the comfortable chairs and the pool. Breakfast is quite good, you can choose between pancakes and different kind of egg dishes (vegetarian options). Also you can order some fruits (optional with yoghurt and granola) and tee, coffee and orange juice.

The only thing we missed was a vegan milk option for the coffee and the granola (like almond milk which is basically available everywhere in Mexico).

Only 3 minutes walk away from the lagoon, rooms were nice and spacious, comfy beds and pillows. Good cocktails and breakfast à la carte in the hotel bar.

The windows in the toilet and shower are not closeable, there is only a mosquito net and wooden gutters so people cannot see through. That means you can hear everything from outside (no loud music as it was not close to any bars, but dogs and traffic). The fact that they are open also means that the room heats up more easily. That being said, the air con and fan worked very well so this wasn't really an issue in December.

Great pool, very large rooms with nice hot showers. Breakfast was good and the pancakes were delicious. Staff was very friendly and also took care for our laundry for a good price. The hotel is close to a public area for the lake where you have to pay 20 pesos and then you can spend here all day. Walking to the main center is about 15-20 minute walk which is a little longer. You could also take a taxi. Would highly recommend this hotel!

Great location, nice decor, and comfortable rooms. Overall, we had a good experience at this hotel.

We booked the superior room with a private hot tub, however, the 'hot' tub wasn't hot. You're told to have the water run for 20 minutes before entering the jacuzzi but it never got hot. For me it was fine, but my partner was freezing. Also, the breakfast is incredibly basic, so that was disappointing. We could also hear people partying in the pool area until 10:30 pm. Not a biggie for me, but might be for some.

Everyone working at the hotel is super nice and helpful - we arrived a bit early for our check-in and they looked after our bags whilst we were chilling in the pool, and helped us booking a boat tour on the lagoon. The room was clean and very spacious. The closest playa is less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel, the Zocalo about 10 minutes, and there are lots of really nice restaurants, cultural centres and bars around -- it's a great quite but lively location.

Friendly staff and there was a sort of concept for the place. the breakfast was decent and actually the kitchen was alright. The kids loved the pool.

The hotel needs to fix the small details. things are starting to break here and there, for an example the planks in the main area are loose, letters in logos are falling of and in the room there are a weirs smell from the wooden bath floor and the use of tape in the sink area - it's a shame. if they don't start fixing it now the hotel is going into a phase where pictures and locations doesn't match. Seems like the staff has plenty of time to start fixing some of these details. Last thing... put up a barrier in the last part of the stairs. Our kids ran to the roof top where there is no guard rails.

This is a well appointed modern hotel situated in a quiet residential area and yet only a 10 minute walk from the central square. Our very attractive room with balcony overlooking the pool was bright, spacious, provided excellent storage for luggage and clothing, had comfortable beds with good quality sheets and pillows, and had various levels of lighting that was easily accessible. The breakfast was well presented and tasty. We had enough choices for our one week stay. All areas of the hotel were clean and well maintained. Lulu at the front desk spoke perfect English and was very helpful. All the staff were friendly and professional. Bicycles on site for rent were in good condition. Clearly much thought has been given to the design and function of this hotel.

Really trendy decor, lighting, and aesthetic. Everything was very clean and the hotel has a great location near the piers to the lake and short walk to town center. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and resourceful. Special thanks to Roxanne who helped us coordinate transportation options to our next destination!

Although the room has very unique decor, and is very clean, some of it I think is not practical. The wood plank in the shower pools water and gives off a wet smell that fills the room and there aren’t any windows you can open to circulate the air. Also, there can be quite a bit of noise if you are a light sleeper and are staying on the first floor.

The hotel is very beautiful. Very nice.Good location in few minutes to reach everything.Very good hotel for his value.We definitely recommend this hotel to everybody.

Beautifully designed small hotel, one of my favourites this trip and we stayed in 8. across the peninsula. Attention to detail is great, even an automatic little light when you go to the loo in the night! We found the staff very friendly - always willing to bring a cocktail to our sunlounger by the pool! Reception staff spoke excellent English, bar/kitchen staff did not but hey, you’re in Mexico, use Google translate or buy a phrase book! Food was surprisingly good for a tiny place, good seafood. We were there 3 nights and experienced no major noise from the bar.
