We are so glad we chose to stay here. We booked very last minute, and all of the low budget options looked pretty bad. So we paid more than usual and had a fantastic time. Raquel is a superb host, who gives good information in Spanish or English. The breakfast in the garden is really top notch: cereal, coffee/tea, plate of fruit, toast and your choice of eggs. Every night was quiet and peaceful. Everything about the room was comfortable and tasteful. The location was totally fine, just a short walk into town and very close to the bus terminal. After spending 6 nights here I can strongly recommend it to anyone!

There was a power out during the night which made for a very hot and sweaty sleep. But this was not the fault of the property…it happened all over the town.

if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Bacalar, look no further! we had the best time here, particularly due to the host, Rachel, who was amazing! Rachel helped us book a boat tour, organise onward transport to Belize and helped us to organise our laundry to be done. when we arrived in Bacalar she walked us through a map of the town and told us about the best things to do, which really helped us settle in and get a feel for the place. Every morning she prepared a great breakfast in the beautiful garden of the Gran Jaguar. the rooms were clean, turned over every day and the aircon worked great. I would highly recommend to anyone to spend the extra money to stay here, rather than going with a budget option!

For breakfast they serve fresh fruit, cereal, bread and offer in addition, eggs in different cooking styles. The room is facing a quiet street, has a comfortable bed, storing space, a small table with lamp and well equipped and ventilated toilet. Wifi works fine in every corner. Breakfast is served at a portico facing a beautiful garden with tropical trees. Parking is available outside the hotel. The hotel is located seven small blocks from downtown and the lagoon. Raquel, the hostess - a very energetic, kind and charming woman - is devoted to the complete satisfaction of her guests. She offers accurate information about the lagoon and the nearby worth visiting places.

I didn't like having to fly back home in the third day of stay. It was planned as a brief visit. However, Bacalar is worth stating a little longer.

Everything! Rachel the owner, is so welcoming, friendly and amazing at helping you understand the area and gave us great recommendations. The hotel is in a great location, especially if you want to explore town and the surroundings, it’s easily accessible from the main road, yet in a quiet neighborhood. The courtyard and garden are beautifully taken care of and you feel like you’re in a zen garden of a fancy resort. The included breakfast was prepared with love every morning, delicious and with lots of variety of fruits and protein. They also have purified water on site. The room was super clean, very comfortable and really good size.

Nothing really. I was kinda sad to checkout ;) super minor suggestion that would be a bonus addition would be a mini fridge in the room.

We were a little hesitant to stay here given it is set slightly away from the town and lagoon but we were SO HAPPY we did! the host is absolutely lovely and was always around if we needed anything. she called us multiple taxis and gave us lots of recommendations. the taxi cost is very affordable to other parts of Mexico so you won’t mind paying for them. and it’s only 10 minutes easy walk to the town. the breakfast was one of the best we have had, eggs and bacon, toasts, fruit, cereal, coffee. the garden js so peaceful and tranquil, we really enjoyed sitting here watching the squirrels and the ducks! The room was large enough, hot water, good wifi and made up for you every day.

Rachel, the host, is such a kind lady!!! And she speaks English too!! This hotel was a win, win in every way. Very near to ADO bus station which is a plus. The shower is spectacular. The bed and pillows are perfect. There really isn't much else to say other than this is a go to place, for sure. Rachel kindly brought me honey to help deal with the laryngitis that I picked up along the way (without even being asked!!) I one hundred times over recommend this hotel :)

the hotel owner is the loveliest lady! super helpful, sweet, kind, and generous- immediately making you feel welcome and at home. the property is also super eco friendly, which we loved, and has bees (without stingers) and a compost, and a very cute backyard where wild opossums, squirrels, and turtles come visit; and all of that while being located in the center of the town!

we liked everything. the only maybe could be the bed which is a queen size that could be comfier (says my husband- for me it was ok :)) and the pillows were great and with different options.

Host is great. We arrived at 11am instead of 3-4pm and they had a room for us. On our last night there was a storm and we lost power. Soon after, they connected a generator and we had full power - AC worked and we were able to charge our phones 👍Breakfast was simple but complete and delicious.

We had the room by the lobby so it was a bit noisy. We heard talking and the kitchen noises (chopping, dishes, ...) But it was quiet during the "quiet hours" 10pm-8am? indicated in the house rules. Not a deal breaker.

INCREDIBLE and unique place. My stay at the hotel began as a search for a nice place to relax and reset before traveling to Belize, I ended up extending for 3 nights. Rachel and Rosaline hosted me with such warmth and kindness, making me feel at home and helping me discover an authentic Bacalar through the perspective of a local family. The place itself is gorgeous. A Beautiful garden where you can eat breakfast (coffee, cereal, fruit Eggs and toast) which is made with love and is fresh and to your liking. The rooms are spotless, with big windows that let in natural light and give an open and comfortable feeling. Comfortable beds, TV, good shower with hot water. 10/10.

it's very clean and hot shower works well. Breakfast included was nice as well. lots of tea selections. has kitchen in the common area although I didn't use it since I didn't cook during our stay. Free drinking water. 15- min walk to the public area of the lagoon. Christians tacos is a few minutes of walking only and it has the best tacos!

Not much a big deal but a "do not disturb" sign on the door would be nice for those who don't really need daily cleaning/don't want someone going into the room while you have all your things there. We only stayed 2 nights and cleaning daily for this is a bit unnecessary for me (but maybe some like it), hence the "do not disturb" sign could be a good option. This can save the place resources/time/money on cleaning services too. overall still a great place though!
