Great location, small but clean rooms.

the door ( all doors ) strangely have 3 frosted windows in them, when people walk down the hall way the light automatically switches on making light come into your room, so use an eye mask. make sure you get a room in the back and not the street side, it’s a very busy area and you want to get some sleep. it’s a great value for money place, realize that the rooms are smallish but clean and the beds are a double ( 160 cm x 2.00 ) location is great.

Casa Abuela Maria is centrally located and I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go in the centro. The bed was comfortable and the linens were nice. A nice light breakfast got my day started. It was very clean and there is a rooftop restaurant that serves decent food.

The only issue some people may have is the noise. My room faced the street and there was noise at night from outside. There was also some noise from the hallway from guests of the hotel and people coming and going from the rooftop. Luckily I can sleep through most anything and the noise wasn’t an issue for me, however, light sleepers might want to request a room not facing the street or bring earplugs.

The staff was very friendly. The receptionist stored our luggage and informed her replacement of our pick up time. The rooms were clean and there were blackout curtains to block out the hall light. The location was great as it was close to many things and wasn't noisy.

Just a few minor things: The bathroom window faced the staircase so you could hear the people on the terrace. There were no instructions on how to set the code on the safe so we weren't able to use it. The breakfast was very basic with some fruit, yogurt, juice, cheese, ham and bread.

This is a nice spot located close to many great sites, especially the Zocalo - a 10-minute walk. House-keeping is pretty good, and the bed is very comfortable. The shower is great. There is a decent terrace restaurant upstairs, and sometimes a bit of noise as patrons come and go, but they close at 10 p.m. so noise is minimal - okay given that this can be a loud city. The hotel is close to a number of very good restaurants. The staff is very sweet and accommodating. We left very early in the a.m. and they left a fruit salad for us to take to the airport. The staff is Spanish-speaking but very good-humored about managing communication. (One of us is fluent in Spanish.)

The room is small, with no place to sit, but there are reasonable seats in the hallway just outside. We were on the second floor so while there is no elevator, it was not terribly difficult to access the room with bags. That might be a problem for some.

The hotel is very centrally located and includes most of the amenities any traveler to Oaxaca looks for, including visually appealing decor, friendly and helpful staff with diverse tour offerings, filling breakfast, and a very popular rooftop restaurant with views of the city center and Guelaguetza auditorium. The hotel is small, with only 10 rooms, therefore the service is very quick and personalized, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was filling and decent in terms of variety and service. There were ample, albeit light, options including fruit, yogurts, juices, bread, pastries, and cereals. It was served from about 8 - 10 AM, with the staff often working with guests to accommodate those with early tour departures (i.e., 7:30 AM)

The hotel is on a very noisy street, which is normal in central Oaxaca City, therefore it is to be expected; However, there is a terrace restaurant on the third floor, with access stairs passing directly by the guest rooms, which makes for a very noisy, brightly light, and sem-unsafe environment between at least 1:00 - 11:00 PM. The hotel has many cameras and on-site staff, therefore, safety may not be much of a concern, however, noise and stair/hallway lighting is even for the indoor rooms. We recommend this hotel for night owls, those traveling with earplugs and sleeping masks, or encourage light sleepers to seek other accommodations.

I liked the location, the cleanliness of the hotel and apartment and the friendliness of the staff. The location is really central , you cannot do much better than that in Oaxaca. Rooms are quite small but still sufficient. Showers are clean and have all amenities you need, which was nice.

Rooms are small but still sufficient. Due to the layout of the hotel, many rooms do not have windows to the outside street but only to the inside of the hotel , so the fresh air only comes through AC.

The hotel is close to everything. so, easy access to all what you want to see. For amounts Alban you need to walk some blocks to take the tourist bus. But, no problem.

I booked this hotel for the location and the room top bar and seating area. Unfortunately this was under construction and it looks it will take a while. They might have put this in the reservation that this was not available. The rooms had anything you need but small and no outside window.

Beautiful hotel with helpful and kind spanish speaking staff. Location was great. Nice rooftop restaurant.

The room that we actually stayed in was far tinier than anything I'd seen on the website. we couldn't open the suitcase. If you see the queen room pictures you can see real window, but in our room we have a blind window which could be opened to the corridor. we didn't deal with these problems because we were out all day :-)

The rooftop terrace dining and open kitchen offered outstanding, cozy ambience, a good bar, excellent staff, and very good (albeit limited menu items) food indeed! Breakfast at 8a had lots of different fruits, whole grain cereals, (so-so) coffee, fresh orange juice, tasty meat&cheese tidbits, and fresh pastries..all very good, as were the dining staff!

long time to get warm water in two of the three rooms we occupied over those 5 days; no help for it, the street is busy with car & truck traffic ~14hrs a day..one gets used to it.

Is centrally located, walking distance from many of the places to visit. The hotel is small but neatly kept, it is located on a busy street so it can be a little loud with traffic, but we were tired every day from all the sites seeing that didn't matter much.

There was nothing bad really to say about it. Everything worked out for us, and the main purpose and use we gave to the hotel.
