Hotel Oaxaca Real

The Oaxaca Real is on a busy street I did not hear from my room. It is in a very well kept old building, impeccably clean in all areas, within short walks from the main attractions, craft stores, restaurants and museums. The staff is attentive and helpful, sometimes you have to ask where info should be offered. It is a safe and welcoming place in the heart of this old yet dynamic city of Oaxaca. The terrace with restaurant is charming, good food, resonable prices. I enjoyed the pool too.

The hotel has no welcoming folder with main information, and you have to ask for password, pool towels, street map, tour info, restaurant menu, pharmacy etc. If such a folder exists, I didn't get one. No tissues in the room. My Spanish is fluent, I am not aware if staff members speak English. I did not like that Reception automatically charged my stay to my international credit card upon arrival and gave me no information on the exchange rate. I would have preferred to use my Mexican account. It would be nice to get fresh coffee from a machine.

The hotel was very clean and smelled fresh. The location is fantastic and their self parking is located close to the hotel. Since we were traveling with a carrier on top of our car, we were fortunate that their parking area was able to accommodate. Also, the hot water worked very well during our stay. Another nice touch was that they provided coffee and hot chocolate every morning, and te con limon every afternoon. We did not have an opportunity to try their restaurant but noticed several guests seemed to enjoy!

Some of the linens were worn and the beds were a bit too firm for my spouse and I, but our kiddos slept fine! One of us was working remotely during our stay and sometimes the internet was spotty, so it was helpful to have phones that could hotspot as needed.

From reception at check in to asking for more clean towels the staff could not be any nicer and pleasant! My kids enjoyed the small pool in a beautiful setting while I sipped on delicious Te limon water. The covid precautions were exceptional and the rooms were very clean. The beds were comfortable along with the pillows and AC. The location could not have been any better! We were walking distnce to everything in the heart of Oaxaca! Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Oaxaca Real and will stay here again when we return.

Very well located hotel with a nice pool. The hotel looks really nice, and however the rooms are a bit dark because of the lack of enough daylight, we liked the set-up of the building. Also a beautiful terrace!

Our rental car got damaged in, probably, the valet parking. Things like this are always hard to proof, especially because we only noticed the dent and yellow scratches two hours after we left the hotel. The first message we send got answered very fast and professional, on the second message with the costs mentioned (250 dollars), we did not receive any reaction yet. Like I said, we can not be completely sure, just for visitors with a car; check your car before and after leaving the parking to prevent yourself from ending up in a situation like ours.

Location was ideal.

The food at the restaurant was just OK. I ordered fruit, yogurt, and granola one morning, and it was good. But the fruit was not too sweet. Maybe not in season. The next day I ordered the same thing and what I got was a smoothie in a bowl. It was odd. I had to ask to have the same thing I had before and he said this is how it's served. I had to explain what I received the day before was not the same.

the staff was exceptional! we were treated so well and friendly and got recommendations for restaurants and bars meeting exactly what we were seeking. also the location was very central and gave us the opportunity to explore everything by foot

the standard room was very standard and not meeting 4 stars in my opinion. very dark and old school. the cleaning products they used caused me a bad headache, very intense chemical smell. we had to keep the window open until we returned to clear the air.

Fantastic location. Helpful staff. Full set of facilities if needed. Had an inside room so vey quiet even though you are in the center of town. Good communication with staff. Travel agency right in the hotel found us a great English speaking guide for a tour for Mt Albans which made all the difference in seeing the site.

Straightforward check-in. Very nice public areas - lobby, swimming pool area, restaurant on roof terrace. Very conveniently situated in the centre of the old city in Oaxaca. Comfortable rooms. Good restaurant offering.

The rooms were a little 'tired' in terms of decor and facilities. Sound proofing wasn't great and there were some noisy guests.

Beautiful hotel, great facilities, clean rooms, great location, friendly staff. Room was smaller than we expected at first, but it was actually ok, and we didn't spend much time in the rooms anyway, the shared spaces are really nice.

The restaurant was not good. Avoid it if possible.

We enjoyed the hotel but were very disappointed when we were refused a refund when we had to return home after a health emergency.
