Hotel Francis Drake

I would give a rating of 8-1/2 if that was an option. This is like a classic hotel from the 1980s. We opted for a superior suite so that we would have plenty of room and lots of places to put things. I had no idea it would come with a small kitchen and seating area, which was great. There was a coffee pot and coffee fixings as well as a refrigerator. Booking.com described it as being on the first floor - ha, not so. It was on the third floor, which was fine since we're able-bodied people who can climb the stairs. There is no elevator. The king bed was comfortable, although the pillows were a bit hard. Everything was very clean, in the room, the bathroom, in the lobby. Staff were quite nice, and the room was cleaned daily. It took a minute for the water to get hot for the shower, but once it did, it was great. I don't know that there is a bad location in the walled city, but our location was definitely good, close to Calle 59 which is closed to traffic for outdoor eating, and close to the main square. Our booking came with breakfast, which was eggs, toast, juice or fruit, and coffee. The hotel offers laundry service.

The internet was really spotty. If we wanted consistent internet, we had to go to the lobby and use our laptops there. Breakfast was good, but coffee comes with the powdered creamers. On day 1, we asked for milk instead and were told that it would be 20 pesos We had booked one of the most expensive rooms in the hotel. Twenty pesos for milk - really. We complained that day to the desk clerk, who look embarrassed, and were not charged after that.

Room was pretty big and we enough room for us and our 5 and 8 year old kids. It also had a refrigerator. Parking in the hotel garage was easy and made life in downtown Campeche easier. The location within the city walls was nice. Wifi worked well.

Communication in English was a bit difficult, but we managed. Once again sorry for the confusion of the check-out day. The staff couldn't really help us with restaurant recommendations but just sent us to the main street to look around. Breakfast was rather simple and could use a little something extra to make it special. The room was pretty hot on third floor (no elevator!), directly under the roof. But with air-condition on full speed it could be colled down. There was nothing for kids here to play.

Big clean room, BIG bed, well localized, free parking space next to hotel, staff speaks english which is nice. Good contact with the hotel. free bottle of water.

Hot water was for 3 minutes and that’s it. I wasn’t even able to wash my hair properly and I was forced to rinsed out with cold water. Bad smell from shower drain after whole day not beeing in the Room. My room (105) was just next to cleaning stuff storage, so because lack of sound proof in the hotel you can hear everything, when they walking in, talking, slamming the doors, etc. No sound proof at all. But this is an old building, so you can’t expect miracles. Doors closed with big „bang”, you can hear closing doors all over your floor. AC works annoyingly - very loud (like VERY), working around 5 minutes, then turn off, then after 15 minutes turn on again, and on and on.

This is a very comfortable traditional hotel. It feels like it was last renovated in traditional style in the 1980s and hasn’t been updated since, but the rooms are spacious and the King Size bass are huge and comfortable. Breakfast included in the room rate includes fruit, coffee (very weak!) and eggs of various types.

As an older hotel, some of the fixtures are a little worn, but nothing that should seriously affect your stay. We are a same-sex couple and had booked a room with one King Size bed, but “strangely” we were given a room with separate beds. I’m still not sure if this was due to discrimination by staff at Reception or a simple administrative mix-up, but they did change us back to a King Size bed (after a bit of discussion) when we showed them the reservation.

The most wonderful hotel I've ever stayed in Mexico. Proprietress was so pleasant to talk to and sweet, the hotel was great decorated and very cozy. The hotel is an old mansion that was perfectly restored. The room was bigger than I've expected and the view was great - to the old city streets. It's located near the embankment and city center so it was perfect to walk to both. Parking inside the building was a big plus. I'm highly recommend this hotel!

Location, location, location. Walking distance to everything. Secure parking. Old building, Huge room. Good continental breakfast. Comfortable beds. Cheap and good laundry outside in 50 meters.

Some device (maybe the airconditioning for the neighbouring rooms) made a continuous noise during the night. We used our earplugs.

I can tell it was a nice 4-star hotel back in time. Really nice lobby, spacious room, you got what you need in the room, a comfortable king bed, iron, hair dryer, and a simple kitchen. The breakfast was simple but great. The location is perfect, easy to walk around the whole town. Considering the location and service, it’s good value of money.

The air conditioner is noisy, because it was a very old model, we didn’t use it cause it’s not too warm during the night.

quiet location in town. nice large rooms. walking distance from center and good bunch of restaurants and bars. town has good atmosphere. bed is larger then other hotels. friendly staff and possibility to park your car inside.

indeed as other reviewers mentioned , airco is a bit noisy, but we got used to that

Location is great, it's very clean and comfortable. The room has a hair dryer and fridge so that was handy!

A/C was quite loud. That said, you were able to set it to the temp you wanted the room to be and then it would only come on when the temp went too high. I actually liked that and it meant the AC wasn't going all night.

Easy access to wall and quiet street Location. Parking garage and on site breakfast.

Easy access off street...made it feel a little unsafe at night if there was no attendant at front desk. Opening Side street balcony let bad odor in from outside so couldn't enjoy open windows. Pull out couch was broken but got replaced fast. Safe was also broken but they addressed it quickly.
