Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto-Hachijoguchi

The convenience to Kyoto Station has been a plus on a few stays prior to the pandemic. I was in a situation with another hotel which reluctantly agreed to hold a piece of luggage following a two night stay, during a one week absence, prior to another four night stay. Daiwa Roynet happily agreed to hold the piece of luggage for a week, if left and I booked my four night stay with them, cancelling at the other hotel. I'd previously forwarded luggage and left luggage prior to the pandemic, so they resolved my issue. I left after my four night stay and stayed elsewhere else for a few days, but wanted to add four more nights in Kyoto to my trip. So I booked a stay here again and will return later in my trip. Daiwa Roynet seemed to have a nice shine to it and was clean and tidy. The willingness to help with my luggage issue and proximity to Kyoto Station is a reason I will always consider them for time I spend in Kyoto.

They have staff who can speak english, but its on shift. Was lucky to get an english speaking staff during check in. Overall, the location quite strategic, 5mins walk to Kyoto station and they have restaurants along the street of the hotel. Bus stop access quite near too

Room has narrow walkway, but its due to the big bed. It can be seen in the photos of the room so we already mentally prepared of the floor spaces that we will get

The location by the Kyoto station is very convenient. The staff was friendly. although we really saw very little of them.

The breakfast left much to be desired. There was a "western selection", which consisted of scrambled egg and sausage and a sugary cereal. This was next to a rich offering of local foods. Some effort could have been made for a healthier and more diverse choice.

the location of the hotel was very convenient as it only down the street from main Kyoto station. The staff were very friendly and helpful even though we arrived early before our checkin. The room itself was spacious and clean- we were lucky enough to get a room in the highest level with the best view of Kyoto tower. My partner and I could not fault anything from our stay at Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto- Hachijoguchi

The bed is comfortable

Only 3 washing machines to serve the whole building’s visitors were not enough and is not reasonable too. The long waiting time makes me to do my laundry in the middle of the night and set the alarm clock to wake up at 5 in the morning to do the laundry too!

Buffet breakfast and the very nice lady, Ma. Kawakami. She was so proffesinal and very pleasant and kind attitude toward all guests I was so impressed how she dealt with all guests with pleasant smile. I’ve never seen the hotel breakfast restaurant staff works do efficiently and giving such smile equally . I wish I could see her at the front desk.

The location was excellent. The hotel was very close to the Shinkansen, JR and subway tracks. The bathroom was large enough to maneuver the wheelchair in. Breakfast was sufficient for us. It was not as large a selection as perhaps at more expensive hotels but we enjoyed everything that we ate and were very satisfied with the selections.

This is a problem throughout Japan and not necessarily only with the hotel. Bathroom wall rails for wheelchair persons is normally placed on the left side of the toilet. My husband is paralyzed on his left side so finds it difficult to stand with the rail on the left. Toilets, also, are generally low and small. However, the bathroom at Daiwa Roynet Hotel-Kyoto Hachijoguchi is commendable for its size. Many bathrooms at hotels and ryokans in Japan, although listed as being wheelchair accessible, are too small for maneuvering a wheelchair in.

It was good distance from station and during walk, it was flat so didn’t have any issues to walk to the hotel. Between hotel and station, there was shopping centre so we could buy some souvenirs and more. Breakfast was good variety of food for me.

Big bed and a long table. Quite spacious too. We stayed for 3 nights and they give new towels and toiletries every day, and also free steam eye mask too!

Great location. Close to Kyoto Station and Kyoto Tower, with lots of shopping and restaurants nearby.

Room size is small.
