Family Hotel Balbi

Beautiful property. Lots to admire if you look for details. Plenty of character. The hosts have been more than lovely. I enjoyed my room. Very large and with everything you need. It was very clean, considering the age of the property it was looked after. I choose it mainly for location which is excellent but also for the special character of the house.

There are lots of stairs, but I knew this from reviews, you need to be fit or have a fit companion to help with luggage. I didn't open Google map as i relied on mental map I had from before but it's not very well signposted you need to look for a building door with Albergo sign on it. I didn't like the coat hangers in the cupboard. I would recommend some new and matching ones. Overall is a lovely place and I would go back if in Genoa again.

Very friendly and welcoming owner, gave me tips on sights and recommended excellent local restaurants. The room was very spacious and had an old fashioned flair. This place is centrally located close to the train station and was an excellent base for exploring Genoa by foot.

Just an info for other travelers and has nothing to the with this hotel itself. It seems on many maps that this place is shown in the wrong spot , further down the road (at the university) when coming from the station. In fact it is about 200 meters from the trains.

Room itself was quite good, with decent spacious bathroom. Hotel was kind enough to accomodate our last minute booking and request for extra bed. Location is very close to railway station and it helped us as we were on a transit to the way to Pisa from Paris. Train journey from Genoa to Pisa was also very good, with nice views to the sea. Lot of nice restaurants nearby which are open quite late in night.

The biggest and probably the only issue with this hotel is lack of elevator. My son and me had to carry 4 heavy suitcases 3 floors up on stairs, late in night. Even if elevator is not possible for an old building like this, can they make a ramp atleast?

Room was spacious and the ceiling was painted, it was wonderful! Very close to the train station. Easy walk to all of Genova, and really pleasant to walk in the area. The gentleman at the desk was kind, generous, made us feel welcome and gave us great instructions for seeing Genova around. Very traditional stay, someone came in and tidied the room when we were out.

It was fine for us but know that there are a few flights of stairs to enter.

We liked that they allowed dogs and loved our pooch. The room was big and compfy. The two people at the front desk were very friendly

i wasn´t a fan of this location although it is said to be a hot spot. Walking down to the port we encountered an amount of seedy streets. The worse part is when they said the AC doesn´t work because the need to save energy. I guess they got that line from SOUTH AFRICA.

The hotel is located very close to the train station, and the old town is within the walking distance. The hotel owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed.

The bathroom window looked directly on another building's window, so it was cumbersome to ventilate the bathroom while keeping privacy.

The hosts, the very interesting high ceiling, the lovely couple that are running the place, the cleanest possible rooms in Genoa, although the building is very old. The hosts advice regarding the attraction and eateries.

The queen beds are very uncomfortable.. My kids had single beds, and one of them was super comfortable . Stairs also were a pain after a long day!

Very nice hotel, extraordinarily friendly and supportive staff, location close to the station Principe as well as the old town amazing, room small but totally enough, clean, comfortable bed, closet, AC 🙌🏽, water boiler for coffee and tea and even a fridge, can highly recommend and would always come back :).

Nothing, it’s totally fine for those standards, I didn’t expect anything fancy but everything was alright and the owners more than friendly, really nice and great people :)

No elevator, but I had no problems as I had only one bag and could carry to the 2nd floor myself. I read review that they help you carry luggage if you have more.

The first is Tiziana the most likeable. Room, comfort, location are second. Tiziana is valuable to Hotel Balbi and they are lucky that she works with them. She listens, support, helpful, courteous and will ensure that guest's are comfortable. Importantly Tiziana is a good human. Clean & comfortable room. 7 minutes walk from Genoa Principe station. Wonderful Experience!
