Summerhill House Hotel

fabulous food, very friendly and accommodating staff, very clean hotel. some lovely touches from the hotel, we were celebrating a family birthday and there was Prosecco and chocolates in the room on arrival, and a candle in the dessert after dinner.. none of which was organised by ourselves but the staff went to the extra effort of organising. we ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel and the food was delicious.

The only thing I would suggest and this is a personal preference but the hotel bar could have entertainment or a little background music on. something to create a bit more of an atmosphere.

This hotel was absolutely lovely. Beautiful interior and exterior. Comfy beds and spacious rooms. And breakfast - oh my! Delicious! And so many options to choose from! We went out for dinner to Mac's Lounge in town which was lovely so I can't comment on food otherwise. Once we returned there was a bit of entertainment at the bar and my wee man loved dancing around and interacting with the very friendly singer. This place is only a 15 minute stroll from the centre of Enniskerry town. Great location! And it's lovely and peaceful around it. Free parking is a huge bonus too. We didn't use the spa but it looked tempting. The staff were SO FRIENDLY! Every single one of them from reception, restaurant, accommodation staff etc were lovely! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Room clean and comfortable. Waiter in restaurant was excellent. Wish I had taken his name .

We were late checking in . I phoned reception from carpark as it was very late at night . Then went in. Nobody at reception had to phone again and wait . Then male receptionist arrived took my name then took a phone call and left me standing there . I was tired after long journey and it was very late . I would have appreciated a quick check in .

Breakfast and restaurant were very good, and the restaurant staff very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for visiting Powerscourt, Enniskerry and surrounding areas. The room and bathroom were nicely laid out and furnished, very comfortable beds, free and ample parking.

Reception staff were polite but not particularly friendly, almost disinterested. The guest areas are poor, with the only comfortable seating area being the bar. This is a hotel more geared for weddings and large functions at which it no doubt excels. Of particular annoyance was an overflowing gutter (small ladder height) outside the room which was very, very noisy in the night. This was not fixed on request as 'there is no maintenance staff at weekends'. So tough luck.

Great staff, at every point of contact . Especially Alan the night porter.

The rooms would benefit from modernization.

The Quiet Location, In the Village. And the close proximity to Powerscourt.

To be honest, one observation. As a single occupant, I slept in the Double Bed. On vacating, a rule I have I always strip the Bed, that I have slept in. I don't wear Fake Tan, and the sheet would appear to have tan stains on at the Feet area, I would not have seen on getting into Bed. I didn't say anything on check out, In the review I feel I should. A theory, maybe the previous Occupant., Had made the Bed up and it looked to the staff that the room was serviced. I in no way want to make a complaint.

I booked a night here for myself and my daughter as we were going to a concert. Upon arrival we immediately got good vibes. This hotel was stunning. The reception area was beautiful, the staff were fantastic and couldn’t have done enough for us. The continental breakfast was like none I ever seen before. The amount of choice was out off this world then the hot food breakfast menu was mouthwatering.

The only negative about Summerhill would be of how warm it was inside. If there had of been air conditioning or a fan this hotel is up there with one off the nicest we’ve been to.

Lovely decor and atmosphere when walking in. The room was very spacious with a generous bed, the bathroom was spotless and very modern which was a nice contrast with the main hotel decor. We had lunch in the restaurant which was really nice, and the breakfast was excellent. Lovely grounds to walk around (that we could see from the car)

It's very off the beaten track so you need your own transport to access it if you don't want to spend a fortune on taxis. A bit noisy at times, looks like our room was close to the service storage area and we had an unwanted early start on Sunday morning, but you can get over that.

We stayed for a cycling event , Wicklow 200 . The morning of the event breakfast was served 6am as requested. Unfortunately NO porridge !!! A cyclists go to breakfast. Hopefully next year !!! There were quite a few cyclists for the event . If you were to advertise that you are 6 km from the start line of one of irelands best cycling events and served a cyclists breakfast at 6am you would be fully booked.

Felt the area at the back of the hotel where the long term residents were staying was run down looking. Needed a good brush and tidy .

The ambience of the hotel and the friendly and welcoming staff. It was our wedding anniversary and there was a bottle of prosecco and chocolates in the room on our arrival which we felt was a lovely gesture.

While the continental breakfast was excellent with a great selection of items on offer, the cooked breakfast was disappointing and lacking in flavour. The evening dinner in the restaurant was also bland and tasteless. We feel the restaurant is letting this wonderful hotel down but that would not prevent us from staying there again.
