Star City Hotel

The hotel has a low rating but in fact it is unfair as it is fabulous. Yes the building is not new, but we had everything we needed. Very spacious and warm in the winter room, good breakfast, amazing and such a lovely and helpful reception staff. Excellent location, bus station just opposite the hotel, another just around the corner and 25 min walking distance to the center. And good very good value for money !! Overall highly recommended 😀

Please check the plates in the breakfast room, There are too many guests I understand and are washed by the dishwasher. I found many plates wet and with stick food on it, presented to the guest as they clean.

The daily scrambled eggs were amazing! The room was good, we had a family room and shared with our friends. The living situation wasn't too bad, but just wish there was an extra toilet as a small bathroom between 4 is quite a stretch. All the staff we spoke with were so helpful and friendly. Hotel in an excellent location too, very easy to access the city and a 30 min taxi from the airport.

Not many vegetarian options for breakfast other than the scrambled eggs. If you're vegan, you'd be in trouble!

Its our second time being in this hotel. The room is clean, for 2 people there is enough space. The staff was very friendly and kind. The location of the hotel is perfect, the bus stations are within 2-3 minutes from the hotel. Most of our used buses were 74 ( stops in-front of the hotel) and 78/79 its on the corner of the hotel. The room was cleaned every day, even when we put the “ do not disturb” and then took it down later that day, they still cleaned the room. The area of the hotel is quiet.

The wifi was slow and weak.

Small, but very nice room, which was cleaned daily, fulfilled demand for 1 double bed. Very good breakfast with variety of food choices, perfect for "charging batteries" in the morning and start your sightseeing. If you're keen on walking, it takes 30-40 min. on foot to Vaci Street and St. Stephen's Basilica, but Metro stop (Keleti pályaudvar) is 500m away and it's convenient to hop on a metro and save your legs for Budapest attractions. There are several food choices and grocery/market stores near by hotel. Close to explore Hero's Square and proceed to Andrassy Street afterwards in order to reach City Center.

Nothing worth to mention.

Good location - hotel is located close to the Budapest Keleti station.

The only minus is that bathroom was quite small and uncomfortable.

The staff was very polite and helpful. The breakfast was fine: several options were available. There is ground for improvements in the coffees.

The hotel is not so close to a metro station and is quite far from the city center. The room was quite small and you could hear other hotel visitors walking in the corridors and trying to close their doors (they had to use their keys for this).

The breakfast was good with a reasonable variety of food. The bed was comfortable and the room was heated despite the freezing cold outside.

The soundproofing of the rooms could be better as we were frequently woken up by noise from the rooms adjacent to ours. The carpet in the common areas looked old and a bit dirty with stains all over. Despite having a double bed, there were individual duvets which was a bit odd.

I wasn’t sure about booking this hotel after reading some negative reviews, but, to be honest, I have absolutely nothing to complain. Very friendly staff, breakfast with plenty of options, excellent WiFi and good location in the District VII, not far from the metro and plenty of buses around.

The only not so good point is that I tried to turn on the AC because some days were a bit sultry, but I left the window open to freshen up the room and it was OK.

Location was great. Staff were very friendly. It’s kind of out of the way, but that’s not all too much of an issue.

We stayed for the F1, we were told that transfer from the hotel with their taxi services was the best and cheapest method of travel - 48€, best part of 20000HUF (at time of review). Considering the time of day when we arrived we agreed to get the taxi transfer to the track. We were charged more money than stated and then we decided to try figure out the way back to the hotel using the shuttle buses and metros etc. Biggest piece of advice - don’t use the hotel transfer, use public transport. £9.50 for the weekend is what we paid per person rather than each individual trip on the transfer from the hotel company.

The room had a door so one person could have some privacy which was an unexpected bonus (like two connected rooms, 1 smaller and one larger). It was quiet and clean, with a small fridge and a bathroom. Great location for exploring the city, yet avoid the noise of more crowded places. a street with bars, pizza and a coffee/ice cream shop was within walking distance (10 minutes at the most). Breakfast was served on the ground floor and was very pleasant, there were enough good options for vegeratians as well. The staff were polite and helpful.

We have no complaints, it suited our purposes perfectly and matched our expectations.
