The Heidelberg Exzellenz Hotel

Stayed one night in the 'Studio' room because we also wanted space and kitchen utensils. The room didnt dissapoint - it was very spacious and exactly what we needed. It was a top floor room and lift was working just fine. Internet worked no problem. The property is in a quaint, nice neighbourhood with supermarket (Alnatura) just round the block. To the town centre and to the beginning of the old town was 5 min (easy) walk. We asked for late arrival, parking spot booking and for room heating - all were met with prompt replies from the reception no problem. All in all, really no fuss and we would definitely be happy to stay again.

Its not the hotel's fault - just that the parking area was a bit tricky to locate. Google-map navi worked anyhow.

Our room was large, clean and well-appointed with a fridge, stove, microwave, pans and utensils. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and let us store our luggage at the hotel before check-in. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the main shopping street leading to the old town centre of Heidelberg. It's about a 20-25 minute walk to the main old town squares and the start of the walk up to the castle or the funicular station. It is also a 10-15 minute walk from the start of the Philosophers' Way if you go from the end by the Theodor-Heuss-Brucke bridge (which I would recommend for a gentler climb up).

Very large and clean room, personal is helping, location is quite close to the centrum and even though there was work on the street, we could park and had no issue at all with noise.

Very friendly staff. Quiet location near some restaurants. Very clean and well appointed. A bit of a walk to the old town approx 10 to 15 minutes walk. Room was very spacious. More than most we've been in. A portable Air conditioner in the room was very much appreciated. They offer a lovely breakfast but we didn't take up this option so cannot comment. Would highly recommend.

Maybe would have preferred to be a little closer to the old town but it wasn't a big deal. It was a lovely hotel with great staff.

The hotel is located in a quiet area with ‘Edwardian’ style buildings- adjacent to the old town which seems older. It’s a 30 minute walk to the central parts of the old town but pleasant. We had a spacious room.

The road outside is being upgraded therefore difficult to get to the hotel. It would be good to have directions on the website because the entire quarter where the hotel is located has one way streets, slow traffic and bike lanes. Because of this it’s a lovely part of town but frustrating to drive in if you’re not local. Also, there are limited parking spots. Get in early!

The buildings were all very pretty with historic charm (stained glass windows, chandeliers), and the rooms themselves were very well equipped and modern. We were especially impressed with the bathroom. It was very clean and comfortable to use. The beds were also comfy and didn't have too many pillows or blankets, which is annoying to us from our experience at other hotels.

There was no safe in the room. Also, not all parts of the hotel are accessible via elevator. This wasn't an issue for us, but if you have accessibility concerns, I would clarify with the staff if they can accommodate.

This is a fantastic property which is located in a quiet section of the 'Weststadt' suburb in Heidelberg. The hotel room was clean and contained a well equipped kitchenette. The hotel staff were also very helpful and were available to answer any questions or queries throughout the period of duration at the accommodation.

The only issue with this property is that you could often hear other people staying in other rooms in the hotel and there was some occasional noise coming from the street.

Room interior is very good, bathroom, very good facilities in the studio room, room size is good, breakfast variations is not large but still has different options and good taste. Receptionists were friendly and cooperative.

Room didn't had air condition and strangely it extremely absorbs the heat There is a fan but isn't that helpful and only solution is to open windows for long time. Reception offered to change to another room with A/C but I didn't change as it was only 1 night. Location of the hotel is a bit far from the downtime, yet, it is a 5 min walking distance to start your journey in the beautiful main shopping street and another couple of mins to reach the river so still location is acceptable if you like walking but you will take another 15 to 20 mins to reach the Altstat.

Lovely hotel near the city centre. Quick taxi ride from the train station. About 2.4km walk through the city to the funicular to the castle.

The rooms were all different, however still nice for the 2 days we spent in Heidelberg. It was a little difficult with our luggage to get to the rooms as the lift only goes up to a certain floor and then you need to use the stairs to get to the rest of the building where our rooms were located.

Great place with charm & history to explore fascinating city of Heidelberg. Staff was very helpful and friendly assisting with smile - provided good tips for exploring city and also local restaurant tips. Location also great - 5 mins by tram to train station and also close to center by walk. Enjoyed tea in the evening or coffee in the morning directly in my room. Definitely place to come back .
