Hotel-Restaurant Hackteufel

This darling little hotel was located right in the old town and close to the Christmas market areas, yet it was very quiet at night. Breakfast was great, with a nice variety on the buffet; there was an elevator; WiFi worked well; and our room for 3 was spacious. We also ate dinner at the restaurant on the ground floor and all three of us thought our meal was delicious. Our train on departure day left several hours after checkout and we were able to leave our suitcases at the desk. If you are looking for the small check-in area, enter through the restaurant and it is past the dining area on the left. This, for me, would be a definite return-to spot for Heidelberg.

Everything was amazing and exceeded my expectation. Location - perfect. Room - very cute and well maintained. Air conditioning worked well too which was great. Breakfast - great selection of tea especially Ronnefeldt ones. Very very smiley and friendly staff

Nothing! The bathtub can improve slightly with extra non-slip pads as it is quite slippery and steep. It can be slightly noisy at night due to its central location but it didn't bother me and my family at all

Hotel-Restaurant Hackteufel is on one of the most beautiful streets in Heidelberg's Altstadt with the Altebrucke on one end and the Heiliggeistkirche on the other. The hotel is a short walk to the funicular that takes you to the castle and to the Hochstrasse if you want to do some shopping. The room my friend and I stayed in was large, very comfortable, clean, and traditionally German (and after several days of corporate hotels [she was traveling for work] we required something a little homier). The breakfast was good and we had a very tasty dinner at the hotel restaurant, although we only ate there once because there were several choices around us and we wanted to check out as many as possible. There's a cute coffee shop right across from the hotel and a wine bar a little ways further. Next time I'm in Heidelberg I will definitely stay here!

If you have your windows open at night you'll probably hear laughter and talking from the street below (it is, after all, a University town). If that bothers you, just close the windows and you should be fine. If that doesn't work, the hotel provides earplugs. (We didn't have a problem with the noise.)

Room was simple but cute. Lovely view of the Heidelberg castle. Hotel situated right in the old town. Quick accessibility to all places of interests. All requests have been fully met. Breakfast was excellent. Food in the restaurant was very good.

During checkin, we had to wait for some time as all staff were busy for the lunch time crowd. The lady who attended to us during check in was not friendly. Probably tired.

We wanted to stay in the Old city, so we could get around more easily in the 1 and 1/2 day that we had there. The decision to stay at the Hackteufel was the best, because it allowed us just that. Even though we spent a bit more to stay there, we would gladly do it again. The castle was visible from our room, which was nice, and it was a few meters from the Brückenaffe, where we could sit at night and watch the castle. The breakfast and dining area was excellent, with great ambiance. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back when we return to Heidelberg.

The rooms are cozy, so that should be taken into consideration when booking in the Old City. Since we were staying there only at night, we personally didn't really mind it. :)

Friendly staff; good location, right in the old town; not very expensive. We just stayed a single night, so there is actually not much more we can review.

The location is probably also one of the disadvantages as parking can get quite tricky in Heidelberg. We had to drive around quite a bit to find a parking garage that still had availability. However, it was so small that we did not manage to make it out again without scratches... Check reviews of parking garages before driving in!

Great location in the heart of the Old Town! And great ambiance. I enjoyed breakfast every morning in the cozy dining room. The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was clean and comfortable.

My room was located on the upper level. It was warm at night without air conditioning even with the fan that the hotel provided. It was also a little noisy on the weekend at night. I had to keep the window open for the air so the street noise came in. The hotel did provide earplugs! This would not keep me from booking this hotel again.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed that went beyond my expectation. My room was small but cozy and had everything I needed. The stuff was super friendly and I love the breakfast. Lovely restaurant.

The only thing I appreciate less was maybe how they cleaned the bathroom. Did not smell like clean to me at times, but other than that, awesome hotel!

We were right in the heart of the old town just a short walk to the old bridge. The hotel/restaurant is in a lovely old building dating back centuries. The rooms are very modern. The breakfast bar and dinner are amazing. The staff are courteous and accommodating This is the BEST place to stay.

There are no negatives with this place! All was wonderful. You are very much of your can stay in this establishment.

It is in the pedestrian centre of the Old Town, subsidised covered parking is close and once you are at the hotel it is perfectly located for sightseeing, shopping and eating and drinking. Friendly staff and a large but cosy restaurant with good food.

Remember that this is a very old building, it is well looked after, the rooms are a good size but if you want high tech and modern facilities don't book here. From our point of view it was all we were looking for for our short stay.
