Grimm's Berlin Mitte

The bed was very comfortable. The room had good storage and was a reasonable size for 2. The staff would happily call taxis for us when heading out in the evening. It was less than 5 min walk to restaurants and corner stores. 5mim walk to metro and bus stops.

Hotel + room smelled of stale cigarettes (we had booked non smoking room- fine for us and smell dispersed however if you are allergic or highly sensitive may not be ideal. Even though we had paid online staff didn't believe me on arrival and requested we pay again to get access to our room. This was resolved within 2 hours and the money refunded after 72 hours (through booking.com).

Cute, clean, comfy room. Loved that each room represented a story, we were in Frau Holle. Good, big shower, very nice shampoo, daily cleaning, air conditioning that made it possible to sleep on hot nights. Staff friendly and kind. They had umbrellas guests could borrow, which was great as our first day in Berlin was full of rain. The hotel is 20-30 min walk to lots of attractions and 5 min walk to the metro / underground. 2 min walk to the Sandwich Cafe, a great breakfast place (but you'll need cash)

Traffic noise in the early morning Breakfast buffet was ok but not great (just 2 choices for bread and not very fresh). We only tried it once but loved the Sandwich Cafe across the road. It would be great to have a minibar for cold drinks in the room. Only German channels on TV

Our room was lovely, comfortable and very clean. The bathroom was beautiful, modern and clean. The location was an easy walk to the train/ subway system. It was an easy walk to the Topographic Museum of Terrors and the Wall at that location. An easy walk to many historic buildings and churches. Did I mention the fabulous full breakfasts? We also walked to an historic location. Sorry I can’t remember the name. And picked up the Hop On Hop Off bus. Pick up a Hop On Bus route for Berlin before you go. Great restaurants in that area too. We always felt safe.

We walked to the hotel from Potsdam Platz. It’s maybe 1 1/2 miles. But it’s cobblestone and dragging suitcases wasn’t the best idea. Next time I would stay at the Grimm on Potsdam Platz or hire a taxi. Otherwise the walk was fine and we walked it several times. On the way we passed Checkpoint Charlie and the Topographic Museum of Terrors. I would definitely stay at the Grimm again.

We interfaced with several staff members and they were all very helpful and responsive-restaurant recommendations, taxi, bus stop info, etc. The breakfast buffet was quite robust, good quality items and fresh and wonderful Franke coffee machine, great capaccino. The breakfast room is bright and cheery. They also had nice additions like a small selection of drinks-we had prosecco on our balcony after a hard day of museuming. The neighborhood is quiet and only a couple blocks from the Spittelmarkt U Bahn(metro) station. Also, there is a grocery near as well as a couple nice small parks.

The room is a bit on the small side; the balcony made up for some of this--if the weather is nice. Ask for a balcony as all rooms don't have them. It would be nice to have a wash cloth. The staff didn't know what that was though they tried hard to find a couple-bring your own.

The location of the hotel is very handy when arriving via BER Airport. If arriving that way I'd recommend to get of at U-Spittelmarkt amd walk 2mins as the other underground stops are pretty far away. The staff were lovely, the room was clean.

There's no real door in the bathroom. It's a sliding door that didn't close entirely. The rooms were advertised as sound proof, however, everytime my next door neighbours used the bathroom or showered I could hear it. The rooms facing the yard can be noisy with the kitchen just outside. The Sunday breakfast wasn't as fresh with dry fruit and bread.

We loved the room's balcony and the temperature was always perfect. The people at the front desk are great, super nice and helpful. The breakfast was very good with some variety of things to choose from. It's a very chill and quiet place.

The pillows are a bit big and there's a lot of them. The shower partition design makes it hard not to get the bathroom totally wet while showering. If you're from another country, the separate duvets may throw you off, but it's common in Germany. There's no top sheet and even if it's a double bed you get one duvet per person, nothing else :) and the bed's not really "made" when you arrive. Which is fine! Just not standard practice everywhere.

Clean cosy room in a very good spot of the city. Very close to public transport, restaurants etc. Friendly staff. Good cleaning service. Very good internet connection. Great shower and good smelling soap.

The pillows were indeed, as mentioned in the reviews, not strong. Besides this the staff for the breakfast could not keep up with the busiest hours of the breakfast. The final two breakfasts I had, I had to take the cutlery myself. I don't mind doing this, but maybe other customers will. Also my empty bottle of water was not replaced but maybe we receive only 1 bottle per guest so then it makes sense. A water boiling device on the room would make the room even better.

Well positioned in the city center, we were in a very spacy and comfortable apartment with own kitchen and many conveniences. There was also daily cleaning. The area is fantastic with nearby shops, restaurants and cafes. There is a regular bus or subway transport from the nearby station Spittelmarkt.

The breakfast is expensive and relatively poor. The TV had only few channels and only in German. Apart from that everything else was absolutely fine for us.

Staff is friendly and helpful. The price you pay for a room is consistent with the facilities and services. We were pretty comfortable and it is nice that it has a wardrobe with enough space.

Although we did research about staying in Mitte and specifically somewhere with connections to every touristic place, we were a bit displeased about the fact we needed to walk several blocks and take always more than one kind of transportation for getting to the main points of the city. The cleanliness of the room could be improved, particularly at the corners and underneath tha bed. Pillows were not the kind we like, but to be fair, we didn't ask whether there were others.

My Fiancé and I came to stay here two separate times (at the beginning and end of our Europe trip) and both were such pleasant experiences! All of the staff were so sweet and helpful at all times. The rooms were great and the second time we stayed there we were shocked at the size, quality, and view from the room given the low price we price we paid. It was an entire apartment with all amenities. Breakfast was extensive and delicious - great 24/7 wine/beer/beverage selection at front desk. We will definitely be back to Grimm’s as we fell in love with the hotel as well as the city 😁
