Grand Hôtel Lille

The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is very close to the two main railway stations and also to the city centre of Lille. The breakfasts were basic continental but were still good. The bathroom was small but very good, clean and adequate for our needs with plenty of hot water and a good shower.

The hotel had not specified that it had air-conditioning, so we were not expecting it. This would have been alright except that we stayed during some exceptionally hot weather. The room was unbearably hot. This was not the fault of the hotel and the staff ensured that we had a fan in the room and gave us a second one as well, although it was hard to find enough sockets to plug them in and charge our phones. There were not enough electric sockets in the room (two, plus one in the bathroom).

Superb location, literally straddled between Lille train station (Flanders) and the main square - it takes no more than 2/3 mins to walk to either. Plenty of shops in the immediate area, including a Starbucks directly across the street for coffee lovers. Breakfast is limited but perfectly acceptable to get you going. Very pleasant check in process, you leave the key as you leave the hotel which avoids having to carry it around, the front desk is manned 24/7 - not had this before at a hotel but I quite enjoyed it.

Rooms are quite small, this isn't usually an issue but the bathroom was ridiculously small - anyone tall or of a larger build will really struggle. It's more like a walk in wardrobe than a bathroom. No TV channels with English language (as you'd expect in France) so bring entertainment if needed.

Excellent for city-break, located in the city center, walking distance to major sights (easy walking level), easy access with public means of transport (metro, train and bus stops close by), helpful and professional staff (ask them for excursion, rentals etc), normal size room, day cleaning and linen change provided (green policy applied), good pilow quality, comfy bed, a bit narrow WC, interesting buffet breakfast (if chosen), good value for money.

Great location for a city break - easy walking distance from the Eurostar station, and only a few mins walk from the city centre... The staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful. The room we were allocated was on the top floor and nice and quiet. The beds were comforable.

The bathroom was rather dated, and it didn't really fit the style of the room. There was no milk provided in the room, even though there was a kettle and tea bags, however the front desk did supply us with a small cup of milk when we asked. The room is small, but we weren't there much.

The hotel is in an excellent location, from where you can go anywhere in Lille! All reception staff were very kind and helpful. The room and the facilities were more than adequate. Tea bags, sugar, coffee, a fan, TV as well as a small boiler were also included. Hotel has a parking, at an additional parking cost which was way lower compared to parking in the streets and closely located to the hotel.

The room was small, but just enough for a couple in a two-day trip, and it wasn’t quite soundproof. Parking way-in and way-out is dangerous for the car, but this is not hotel’s fault.

Extremely comfortable bed, room was good size and could be well ventilated as the windows could be opened. Good workspace with large surface for laptop with nearby power points and good work chair. Good efficient shower. Very quiet apart from an owl which was calling at 05:00, but as it is the mating season, this was understandable. Great location, near public transport and to numerous bars and restaurants.

Minor issues, such as lack of power points anywhere except work-area, no tea/coffee making facilities in the room (although there is a free tea/coffee machine on ground floor in breakfast area which is available 24 hours) and lack of drawers (all storage is on open shelves).

The location of this hotel is fantastic. Just a couple of minutes walk from the central regional train station and a flat 10 minute walk to the Europe train station. It was also just a couple of minutes walk to the very compact and pretty Old Town, lots of restaurants and shops and even a large Westfield shopping mall. The rooms were fine and made good use of limited space. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

There weren't any English TV channels but that's a small complaint.

Excellent value and 24 hour concierge meant late check in (midnight) not a problem. Location is superb - few minutes walk from the train and very easy to find. Basic rooms but clean and functional. Tea/ Coffee in room as option. Quiet, so good sleep. Lovely helpful staff. Breakfast exceeded expectations. Well stocked up. Relaxed dining area. Extremely clean. Good family room. Would definitely stay again

Faded decor in rooms but didn't bother us as painted , clean and well maintained and was excellent value for money.

Very convenient location, close to the train station and the center. Right across the street there is a small grocery store. Bed was comfortable.

The doors to the corridor is quite thin. While there is almost no sound from the street, whenever a neighbour opens his doors it can be clearly heard in the room.

Excellent helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast convenient and good quality. Location couldn't be better. Rooms ready early and we were able to leave our bags in the secure luggage room for a few hours.

Although I understand hotels need to check the credit card used, there was no mention in the listing that there would be a €200 authorisation charge made pre-visit. It was sorted but a warning of the charge should be clear.
